@75echo You could attach magnets to the shaft and generate current in a coil, but that would be less efficient than extractin energy directly from the solar cells that run it.
@hmotor Have you considered reducing the weight and making the whole contraption fly? ... Let the motor turn a propeller placed above so it acts like a helicopter.
It's magnetism that amazes me, this thing is been held up by magnetism, so a force is been applied, yet no loss in magnetic strength is lost over time, so in effect it is an infinite source of power, if only we can tap into it, then the oil companies could go and get stuffed.
@sorova I think you will find that magnetism is not from the sun, magnetism is throughout the universe and is one of the forces that are required for everything to exist, along with electricity and gravity. Ye the motor is great and yes that does derive its power from the sun, but it is a simple motor at the end of the day. Where as magnetism is infinitely more interesting in its origins and its effect upon everything.
@eyeswideopennimrod You are talking in riddles. It needs rare-earth magnets to work which are expensive and need to be given energy to make them magnetic. The power comes from the Sun - fine. So it's a solar powered motor. (solar cells also take energy to make them too!) Don't give the impression that it's free energy or any such bull.
@sorova Are you retarded, i know it uses solar energy to turn, but i am just saying the forces of magnetism are more interesting than the motor is. I don't care how much the magnets cost and no they do not require energy to work, they are magnetic all the time. Fucking hell i was only commenting on the magnets, so wind you neck in
@Pinoylegend707 Could you give me a more detailed artical? what I can't seem to see it how it spins, as there's nothing visible to turn the block of solor panels on its axis.
@the12aven I'm sorry, but I don't really know exactly how it spins. The only thing I know is that the thing that makes it spin is inside it. I never made anything like this yet, so yeah. Sorry about that.
This is one of the best finished Mendocino Motor I've seen on You Tube, how did you get the wire windings so tight and neat where it joins the solar panels?
very nice craftsmanship, very clean and neat. Looks like you used ribbon wire for the negative connections and perhaps the cells are also under acrylic?
Thank You for your amiable comment. All connections and the coils are made of the same magnet wire. The armature is made of solid PVC and you're right, the cells are under acrylic.
yooooo ! great man !

How does it work and why do you use magnets to elevate it why not put the axil inside some ball bearings

Do you have plans for this motor?

@Rustyknifeai
There are any sites in the internet with descriptions how to build a mendocino motor. If you search for "mendocino motor diy" you will find.

Pointless! Why not just take a dc motor and run it off solar cells!

Thank you for the nice demonstration.
Question: does it have enough power to drive a small belt attached to an accessory?
75echo 10 months ago
@75echo
I think no! If you try to transmission power, the force will pull the rotor from its place.

What makes it spin? I cant see what is making it spin? and what is the Mirror for?

@the12aven it's inside the bulky square levitating part and the power source is the solar panels outside it.

how much would it cost if I'd like to build a motor like this? And how should I build it?

What would happen if you had this in a vacuum? Would it just go faster and faster? :D

No, the acceleration stops, if the ElectroMotive Force (EMF) is equal to the solar cell voltage.
