Only tank with auto reload that can fire and hit a target while moving full speed. He would easily destroy others tanks. That's like a assault rifle vs manual rifle.
@humzon - Let me explain one thing to you... No tank - not single one, is capable to fire on full speed accurately on any thing but solid flat road. Which you dont contact very often on tanks. Standard moving speed for firing of any modern tank are 15-20kph on good terrain. And slower on bad one. (I am formerly T-72B crew man)
@bammb00 The US can't even bail their own selves out of conflicts. I wouldn't depend on them for anything. Korea was a bust, Vietnam was a bust.. the Gulf War only had you returning a decade later. Hell, even WWII they joined late after Germany was already going down and much of the work was done. Don't get me wrong, they do great. Awesome equipment and dedicated soldiers. But it's a wrong place, wrong direction sort of thing with them.
the only thing this tank doesn't cover is invasion ability due to it's massive size and weight, being nearly impossible to deploy to foreign lands quickly, but I guess the french won't be invading other countries any time soon, right?
@flamedrag18 In fact, the Leclerc is relatively similar to Abrams in terms of weight and dimensions. It is quite transported by aircraft. It is currently deployed in Lebanon and before that in Kosovo.
No, it is similar to the Abrams in dimensions but the Abrams is about 15 tons heavier due to it's thick composite armour and dense depleted uranium armour.
EASILY TRANSPORTED BY AIRCRAFT? Not one single aircraft in the French Air Force can lift a Leclerc. Their heaviest lifter, the C-130H, cannot even lift HALF the weight of the Leclerc. Do a little bit of research please.
When being deployed to another country, it has to be transported by either land or sea, not air.
@flamedrag18 : Nope, I don't think France will be involved in any sort of invansion any soon. Libya could have seen the Leclerc being deployed to fight Kadhafi's armed forces but since it's been decided that there would be no intervention on the ground from the Coallition...
Looks like a really nice, modern tank. A great contribution to the European Armed forces. God knows I love French military technology, the Rafalé is absolutely one of my favorite modern fighters. So clean, so prestigious and so fierce.
The Frenh like tanks because they don't dent when they drop them and run away from a fight. They stay nice and pristine for the invaders to capture and re-use.
@trevchar : I'd say 1945 according to the fact that they fought alongside the Allies. Or, if it doesn't suit your tastes too well and if you consider that the US won WWII alone like a lot of the others poorly informed people on the Internet, let's say the last major war we won was WWI. Happy ?
