Anybody who likes this song should check out Adam Ant's 'Room at the Top'. Not because it's a brilliant record but purely because it's a total uncredited rip-off of this classic. Tell me I'm wrong. I dare you. Shame on you Adam Ant. Shame your single bombed but you made the mistake of stealing the melody but not the soul. Schoolboy error.
@TuneInTurnonWakeup OMG i soooo agree! Adam Ant not only ripped off the music but certain lyrics in this classic song..and to my best knowledge NEVER paid Mr Dorsey or any of his family royality for this obvious 'borrowing' of a song...Adam Ant..original songwritter...lol YAYA right!
My 90 year old technology singer sings this in class, his drandruff covers his eletric guitar, its hand made by him, the dandruff holds it together. The songs cool though.
Does anyone know when this song was released? I have this theory that things in the world repeat themselves over history, for example: music. I'm wondering if other artists within the same decade of when this song was released are also considered to be underrated amongst fans.
I'm wondering because i noticed someone giving a translation and it made me see the song as him singing using slang of the time, like the music from 2000-2010 it's mostly sucked & the good stuff is underrated.

@speedamod Don't know about "The Wanderer's", but it was definitely on the soundtrack to "American Graffitti", I remember I bought it when it first came out and remember hearing this song for the first time.
I just finished watching one of my all time favorite movies, American Graffiti, and this song was on the soundtrack. Man, is this a classic! The sound on this post is crystal clear, just perfect. Thanks for making my night. RF
Man, I love this song! My Auntie use to play it for me EVERYTIME I went over to her house when I was a baby back in thew late 60"s in New York City. I love you, I miss you, and god bless you ALWAYS, Auntie!!!
Ya Ya. What an awesome song. When I was a little kid I had this song on a tape with Beep Beep, Hot Rod Lincoln and Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop. I took the tape everywhere with me. I played Ya Ya because that is what I call my other grandma and she loved it as much as I did. I'm old but I still love this song. I still think it's one of my favorites of all time.
I was in 7th grade in 1972 when our gym teacher played this song for our exercise. We lined up in the gym and did a line dance from front to back, left and right with a grapevine step, a twirl and a clap. Those were the days!
@whileimthinking Thanks for taking time to read it. I am just now seeing your comment. Keep the music in your heart & be forever happy...........Julie

" I Gave My Heart to the Junkman" (Patty Labelle and the Bluebelles)
was about heroin.
Sometimes songs were draped in slang but the message came through.
Ya Ya is a good example also.
He is sitting in LA ( called La La Land by so many there)
Wating for his Ya Ya to show up . ( aka hooker )
He got away with getting this one played and probably
had a lot of laughs about it.
