  • I so Love This song!!!

  • Quality!!!!!!

  • Anybody who likes this song should check out Adam Ant's 'Room at the Top'. Not because it's a brilliant record but purely because it's a total uncredited rip-off of this classic. Tell me I'm wrong. I dare you. Shame on you Adam Ant. Shame your single bombed but you made the mistake of stealing the melody but not the soul. Schoolboy error.

  • @TuneInTurnonWakeup OMG i soooo agree! Adam Ant not only ripped off the music but certain lyrics in this classic song..and to my best knowledge NEVER paid Mr Dorsey or any of his family royality for this obvious 'borrowing' of a song...Adam Ant..original songwritter...lol YAYA right!

  • Badd songg !

  • wak tune

  • Lee Dorsey 1961 song featured in the great 1973 movie "American Graffiti".

  • most cool!

  • is this song featured in a commercial?

  • Check Out: Gi Meg Fri I Kveld 1980 (Vazelina Bilopphøggers) Music Video (Norway)

  • .

Check that back it was " I Sold My Heart to the Junkman"

    .

  • " I Gave My Heart to the Junkman" (Patty Labelle and the Bluebelles)

    was about heroin.

Sometimes songs were draped in slang but the message came through.

Ya Ya is a good example also.

He is sitting in LA ( called La La Land by so many there)

Wating for his Ya Ya to show up . ( aka hooker )

He got away with getting this one played and probably

had a lot of laughs about it.

  • @mikemikeyf

    OMG. For reals.

  • Takes me back to grade 12

  • My 90 year old technology singer sings this in class, his drandruff covers his eletric guitar, its hand made by him, the dandruff holds it together. The songs cool though.

  • Now my 6th grade teacher Miss Peggy Buffaloe let me bring my record player and let us dance to this---how kewl is this? Kay Crews Nichols

  • Does anyone know when this song was released? I have this theory that things in the world repeat themselves over history, for example: music. I'm wondering if other artists within the same decade of when this song was released are also considered to be underrated amongst fans.

I'm wondering because i noticed someone giving a translation and it made me see the song as him singing using slang of the time, like the music from 2000-2010 it's mostly sucked & the good stuff is underrated.

  • Translation - I'm sitting in Los Angeles waiting for my hooker to show up.

  • @mikemikeyf baloney

  • Yeah, this was a goody. As with all Lee Dorsey's music. Was this in the Lords of Flatbush or was it American Graffitti? I get confused.

  • Dalida !!! :)

It captured my heart as did my husband. It was just like it was being sang to us personally. My husband was waiting on the bus for me. I beleive this was the first time I had heard this song. It has always been our song. I love it. Thanks for posting it.

  • Yaya is a feeling you get when your scared or when something is chasing you. That feeling you get when you run even faster because you feel that something is chasing you. Another example of this feeling is when your hiding in the dark and something/someone is looking for you. That is the meaning of "Yaya."

  • Yes,adding on to it,is lets say your running up steps and somebody is chasing you,you start running faster and you start to get shaky in a way.

  • hmm.....but he is singing sitting here in lala waiting 4 my yaya. my english is not so good sp excuse me pls, but i dont think that he's waiting for that
