O infidels! know that the time will come when enjoying this music will cost you dearly.
Thus says the tradition of Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Seal of the Prophets, and the Best of Men: "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will pour molten lead into the ears of whoever sits listening to a songstress."
Infidels! accept Islam, repent of your sinful ways, bow before Allah, live according to the example of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
This song happens to be a personal favorite of mine, especially when this song came to mind when i graduated from 8th Grade back in the 80's. What memories. Thanks for sharing this classic.
WOw, I love the original as I know the original on the best of the Supremes LP I wore out in the early 70=s ,I don' t know how old it was or when it was released buy my older sis had it and I was about 12/13 ,
Gotta get some CDs!!!
However , I love this so much!! It's close enough to the other but with unique nuances with like you are there with Diana's voice so clear, thank you for this!!
Incredible !! The BEST version of this wonderful song I've always loved. Thank you suemiddleton for giving us this. It's going into my IPOD. This is MUSIC !!!

very nice ..love the photos..the insrumentals of The Funk Brothers made the record companies back in the day Rich. While they and most of the talent of that era made hardly any money at all..
Nice. An alternate version of my favorite Supremes song. To me... it sounds like Diana was trying to find her "niche" with how she wanted to sing this sing. Still, it's a beautiful song that deserves much credit - being it's from 1 of the best Mowtown performers of all-time. Thanks again.
Diana Never sings this song( not in the past 3xs in over 25ys I seen her live) up to recently. Jun 4 10, Yet, Mary who was Not on the recording of this song, sings it in every one of her concerts .the original Supreme(diana)who was on the original recording and Only Supreme on the recording wont sing it Live anymore, and original Supreme(Mary) who was not on the recording sings it all the time.how odd. If someone has a recording of Diana singing this song since Motown 25 i want to See it.
@cyurutihs Please put the crack pipe down, Florence Ballard was No where in the Supremes and had been Gone two years. Guilt? Yeah Thats Why Mary Wilson sings this tired ass song that I never liked. because she feels guilty for causing the last reunion to fail..with her non talented ass
Why is Mary copping a feel @ 1:39? LOL! Some of these photos are very sweet; you can see they really were a tight knit group and truly cared for one another. Just love Miss DeMiddleton!
Actually, there are people who were at Motown that have confirmed Johnny Bristol's ad libs were recorded after Diana recorded the song; Berry liked them and said they should stay.
@paultinsel I beg to differ. We can live w/o her "diva" baggage certainly--but there is soul and voice aplenty. Check out "Never Again", the very early Supremes track.
UNBELIEVEABLE, can music really be THIS good, I was born in 1979, why did such great music come before my time. This along with Marvin Gaye, Al Green, The Isley Brothers pre-dated my time but this classic music touches my heart and soul as if it were written for me. Beatiful, flawless track.
who actually did the male vocals in this? I love this version and its very difficult to find a version wiv the male voccal in it, I have the released version on tape, from their best of but on utube? its only the supremes vocals on them...(?)
Johnny Bristol (deceased) the producer. There's a story (unverified?) that Diana Ross was finding it emotionally difficult to sing the song. His bg vocals apparently intended to encourage her sounded so good in the playback that it was decided to keep it. The rest as they say is history.
Back in the early 70's I heard a radio interview with Johnny where he said that Diana was tired, she'd been in the studio for about 8hours recording, and so he was singing in the studio feed that only she could hear to "motivate" her. In another interview I heard with Diana, she said "he was really sounding good and she, along with several other people, said they really ought to leave his voice in the recording.
@1974Asha Ya know it isn't (wasn't MEANT to be a "male lead" on the track...the situation was Diane had Johnny in the recording booth standing next to her as she sang the lead, and instead of him SAYING what he wanted from her vocal he just SANG the 'instructions'!!If you listen to what he's saying/singing to her you'll hear him encouraging/coaxing the sexy/breathy type lead he wanted from her,& as Motown was to all intents and purposes an 8 track recording set up they couldn't wipe his voice!!)
I hate to say it but this is a fabulous fake. No, the alternate vocal by diana & the music track are original. However, the hannond organ at the beginning is not. You can CLEARLY hear the analog tape hiss after the organ and where the original music track starts. Someone had some fun with this. The hammond organ was mic'd in stereo. They didn't do that back then.
This song is a "companion" to "These Things Will Keep Me Loving You" on Diana's 1970 solo LP...Both songs were produced by Johnny Bristol and recorded aroud the same time..The mono mix of TTWKMLY has an organ on it....I would not be surprised if this organ was on the original multi-track of "Someday.." , but not used in the original released mix...
This is ALSO a TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEAD vocal from Diane as well!!It SOUNDS like a 'guide vocal' to me (that singers put down just to mark the melody line and come back on a different occasion to do it 'properly'!!) as it juss don sound like Diane's 'performing' the lead...if i were a betting person i'd lay money that this is a guide vocal!!Where the HELL did you find THIS man??YUou got access to Motowns vaults or summat,LoL!!Thanks for this...fab!!!!
Hi there saw your posting, this is the last performance of the supremes; infact the only one singing on the track is Diana no one else, I heard some motown guys talking on the BBC about this track the other week its fantastic.
oceanprick!!! I love how it continues to show how you hate that you were not there to sing with Diane!!! I bet you can clean a mean toilet also since you have no recording contract!!!
I think Diana's more excellent ad-libs and vocals on this other take of the song, would've sounded great released as they were as a genuine solo record of this song for her.
