@omsatya: U must see this movie then only u can understand it fully. they r not creatin any religious conflito. These kinda things were happened in medival south india. There are proofs in history and in literatures.
From what I know the facts in this movie are not true. The real maharaja did not remove the Vishnu from the shiva temple. Great movie and song though! I am Shaiva but I believe that wether Allah Vishnu or shiva they are all one.
In the early medieval period there were nothing like Hinduism, it was Saivaites, vaishnaivaites and other cults. The Saivaites are Shiva worshipers and Vaishnaivites are Vishnu worshipers. The 2 prominent religious groups struggling for supremacy over the other like the Catholics and Protestants in ChChristianity.

@kalidhas1 hi i am kirati native of the himalayas. saivaites (or shivaism) was the result from kirati religion.
when aryan arrived in at the foothills of the himalayas, the aryan adopted lord shiva into hindu religion.
