In a small, light car like a fox, a stock shortblock is fine because it doesn't take tons of power to get the car into the 10s. The only advantage of doing a bottom end build is strength and compression (which you can also gain by milling the heads) and compression only increase power output by 5% for every entire point. If you had a 300 hp engine running 8.0:1 compression and you bumped it to 10.0:1, you'd gain 30 hp. Big whoop, Stock bottom end 5.0 is good for about 500 hp and 6500 rpm.

a stock bottom end with a good cam,great heads,intake,full headers back exhaust,short belted,proper suspension,slicks and sum lightning can run mid 11s in a 5speed.my friend used to do it in a 87 mustang coupe that was from the factory a stripped model. it would run consistent 11.50-60s at 115mph then drive home. it was a pure street car with front and rear seats. it weighed 2750 without him and nitrous would of put him easily in the 10s.

I seen a local marine put a 200+ shot on his stock 302 and pull off mid 11's on street tires. I tought it was going to blow up going down the track, but it didn't. He ran 5 times that night and bested a 11 flat, un-hooked his bottle and drove home. Really suprised me. Kind of made me think he was bull shitting a little bit. I remember looking under the hood, everything from the T.B. on down to the rubber boot on the distributor looked stock - excluding the nitrous lines.

Looks exactly like mine. I have a coupe too. Its best 1/4 is a 10.26. It was going 135 mph though. So I know it has 9's in it. It had Lakewood lift bars that were incorrectly installed. Pretty much no rear suspension. I could stand on the trunk and it wouldnt go down at all ( I had a GF like that once too. LMAO). I havent tried it since I fixed it. Im lookin for 9's on a stock block. Nice vid, badass car.

if you swapped in a C4 with a shift kit and a 3500 stall you would notice a big difference in ET's and its a pretty cheap swap you can pick up c4's just about anywhere

Stock short block means the block its self is what came in mustangs. He used the stock mustang block that came in the car and changed the internals like cam, heads, intake and so on. Its not a Boss or Dart block etc... Thats what they are saying.

This is Purestock's car.

Its a bone stock 5L with just heads, cams and intake and runs 10's all day, the car is only 367hp, its all about your gearing which this car has 2.73's and how tall your tire is and your power to wieght ratio, thats all that matters once you get that all dialed in then its a bad ass combo
