My name is Clément Abaifouta, Im the President of the Chadian Association of victims of Political Repression &Crimes. We, as victims, have suffered great loses under Mr.Habrés dictatorship. Weve been fighting for 19 years to bring him to justice with the help of Reed Brody and his team. They have allowed us to make our voice hear on the international scene & were now very close to the trial weve been waiting for so long. For that were deeply grateful to them.
There is one more thing that makes his documentary very inappropriate. In the original documentary, there were old Chadian women Christians and Muslims gathering at the same place for the same victims and praying together for those who were supposedly killed. Not only in Chad but in many third world countries people of different believes don't pray together. Moreover, in Chad especially when we talk about the old generations, Christians and muslims don't sympathize each other.
When you look closer to his published videos, there is something irrelative to the Chadian societies. In Chad, people don't celebrate for the memories of dead people after many years. It may sound weird but we just don't do it. If we do, we would have made a lot of demonstrations against the Libyan dictator Kadhafi who killed more than 100,000 chadians even if Rudy Brody doesn't want to hear about him.
On the eyes of many, Rudy Brody is a dictator hunter. That's exactly what he wanted to hear and leave behind him as his legacy. He invested a lot of his money and time in some particular cases. The case of Hissein Habré, the ex president of Chad is the most compelling and lucrative for him. In the name of "victims" Mr. Brody started creating baseless cases and unreliable documentaries.
Long live Hissène Habré.
