Also we should not get to excited from what we seen in films, as they are just films and the USA is extremely big and all types of organized crimes flourish unlike anywhere else in the world & there is enough space for all Communities.
But in Europe is different for Example the UK is run almost completely by Albanians & Turks and no one here even comes close, the only other true competitor is probably the Irish so called (adams family) who have links to IRA.

we have 30,000 Russians here in UK and another 250,000 with Russian ancestry but they don't run anything.
Same goes for other countries in EU, Germany for a period of time was run by Yugoslav Mafia which included Serbs, Croats, Albanians & other smaller minorities but after the break up and the major influx of Turks that is not the case anymore, Turks pretty much own Germany now.

Yeap now they do but up mid 90's they were part of the Russian mafia and even after, the Chechen OBSHINA did not separate completely until 1999 -2001.
But with almost 2 million Chechens living in Russia & Chechnya they still run a lot & are pretty active in Arab countries like UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria.

I thought it was interesting to see how the Russians were laughing at Alonzo. While he wasnt necessarily laughing at Snoop Dog, or that guy who he hit in the balls, and that other guy he killed with the shotgun, you could certainly tell he was enjoying himself at the time. I wonder of it was the intent of the script author to point that out.

@abbyboyone Well, even in a busy city like LA, this is presumably after midnight, cos Alonzo had that long to pay up. Given the Russians show up and smoke him on the spot, his time must've run over, so this is maybe 1, 2am. Even in LA, roads will be much quieter at that time.

@darthmustard777 He owed the Russians money. I haven't seen the movie in awhile but for some reason, needed to repay them back. Jake, the cop he was training, prevented Alonzo at the end of the movie from getting the money to the Russians. So this was their payback.
They talk about how hardcore LA gangs are. They've got nothing on the mob or the Russians.

@JohnnyBoyCali Well, if I remember correctly the news feed after this part suggested that this hit was covered up by the police. I think it would be necessary for the "old men" to make sure the public isnt aware of the circumstances surrounding Alonzos death. We all remember that meeting where permission was given for Alonzo to basically murder that guy, and construct a cover story.

I don't talk to dead men", which is implies the LAPD aren't gonna lift a finger if Alonzo gets smoked, cos he brought it on himself.
