A simple 8800 GT can run crysis on full and that card is what? maybe only $100? try playing games like Nepolean total war or most large RTS games. Wow as a long time JRPG fan in terms of story and depth you've got to hand it to Bioware and Bethesda etc. Truthfully i've bought over 12 JRPGS and played through them once maybe 2 playtrhough but out of my three american made RPGS, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KOTOR, Fallout 3, I've probably spent more than 70 hours on each and still playing them due to the choices that actually affect the outcome of the story.

t's only when you have finished a game and come back and watch the review again you see how much was left out (on purpose, I feel), like the lack of true exploration and enforced fast travel, plus the typical blocked avenues and caves to force you down a linear route in the quests. I wonder when we might get a cRPG where you get the exploration of an Oblivion or Fallout 3 with the characters and story of a DA. In this regard we have only really had 50% cRPG's of late with one or the other.

Ive beaten this game on Nightmare on all origins. No rogues though but all the same. Same goes with the dlc. If you're a mage...holy cow...uber elite. Bioware has unfortunately sold a very glitched/bugged game for even the highest end computer. Very easy game as Mass Effect's were.

I like it, but it's not as good as BG2. I miss the D&D roots. Also, the game is quite easy, and cool-down queues etc. are not very tactical IMHO. I would much rather memorize spells etc.

The story is pretty generic fantasy, characters are good tho. The voice acting gets tedious, does everyone really need to talk in games now a days? I can read much faster than many of these NPCs yammer.

The writing is not on par with the BG series however. It's all overly serious and lacks whit.

this game is much more better played on the pc since it allows the camera to be controlled from bird's eye view, and if you're a strategy fan, tactical decision-makings can be enjoyable.

this game is greatly replayable, and the graphics on the pc are crisp and smooth.

@PrimeSonicYT I thought the entire story was very original, from the origin stories to the slaughtering of the Archdemon. The only way I can imagine it not being original is if you think of it purely as "Become a hero, kill the enemy, win."

The story is full of classic archetypes, with only names and minor details making anything new. The mechanics of point buy, tech trees, mana, and cooldowns have all been used before.

It's not the new things but the fact that it uses tried and true methods and execution that make this a classic. It may be new but it's the innate familiarity that draws us in. Its archetypal story draws on our nostalgia and collective conscious. It's familiar controls make it easy to pick up and play.

I loved CoN as well. Until like a year ago my friends & I used to play it(4 players) on PS2 all the time. The animations are smooth & well choreographed. Plus unlike CoN but much like BG2 this game has tons of plot!!! I really hope you enjoy it b/c it was worth every penny to me!!!

Glad to hear that, getting it in a few hours now when i need to go to the store for some things, really looking forward to it, a bit upset that it isn't the nice Hack 'n Slash game that CoN and BG2 were, but i heard that the stories great and long, the graphics are decent, and the combat system is great, and DOA has alot of replay value, even though it doesn't have CoN/BG2's combat system, i think the story and new combat system should still make up for it.

Game was impressive... though if you take it as a single story, you'll explode.

Plot-wise, it really plays like a short story collection. And on that note, the short stories are largely very good, especially if you know your mythology. The whole "Dark Spawn" plot was sort of... idunno, the bastard child of some discarded idea Tolkien had before writing LOTR... but the rest of the story was wonderfully-done.

U can't really do something like that b/c they are different genre's. You could say Fallout 3 or Oblivion or GTA IV b/c all 3 are sandbox open world RPGs but for DAO you would have to compare it to Baldur's Gate, Titan Quest well not really BG 1 & 2 are the only true well known tactical RPGs worth mention.

the graphics have some pop-in & low res textures on 360 but honestly all games do compared to PC. Anyways the gameplay in this game is so intense & fun that you'll probably rarely if ever noticed. The graphics are not out of date the only thing you're losing out on is user created content if that means little to you then i say it is worth every penny!! My 1st play through was 81hours2nd 67 hours gonna start my 3rd next week.

Mass effect had better graphics because it was a smaller game. they gave you the idea that you could go to any planet but the planets u could go to which were few only had different skins which was dissapointing. the story mode was good though. im stuck between getting this for 360 or assassins creed for 360... anyone help me out???

Well it really depends one what kind of game you want, and if you really don't play rpg's very often you might enjoy assasins creed more. But I had issues with the first assasins creed, freezing and unreadable disk issues that made it impossible for me to get farther in the game and it really irritated me. Thats why i bought dragon age... plus it was on sale black friday and assasin creed wasnt XD

I guess everyone has their own tastes. As a fan of Bioware's Baldur's Gate series, I absolutely loved how true this game was to old school RPGs. The graphics has been brought up and I agree that it is not as slick as Mass Effect, but the aim was different. Bioware was trying to convey a gritty dark feeling. I feel in that regard they succeeded wonderfully. I loved this game. But I don't mock your opinion, I can see how some aspects would bother some people.

I gave this review a 1 b/c this reviewer seems like he lied about playing BG2, no references from the game & all he talks about is WoW. This game was in development before WoW & BG1&2 were based on D&D style play just like WoW is. Terrible review, he obviously hasn't played BG2 b/c he has no idea how to play a mage.
