I think Jodie was concerned with a man of large stature (215lbs and up) bear-hugging and squeezing tight while picking her up off her feet. Thats typically what a man would do to a woman to control her. Any suggestions?
lol i guess the point of the vid is to prevent you from getting picked up off your feet because majority of the time once someone picks you off the ground your done
This was a good video, but I was practicing with a friend one day and I lifted her off her feet and she didn't know what to do. We wanted to know what would you do if he was lifting you off your feet, aside from the obvious "poke him in the eye" stuff.
This one's pretty sweet dudes. If the 'attacker' repositions his feet, he is still open to a knee to body/groin. It is a nice set up to create space to knee him.
I love your videos, but this one is slightly worrying. There seems to be a risk of spinal/neck injury, possibly fatal. What can you recommend to ensure people moderate the strength applied to this technique to ensure a safe execution? (excuse the pun)
Well as anybody who's done some BJJ is going to tell you , it's harder to break your neck than you think - besides this is more of a self defense move. I don't think anybody in a grappling competition would be un-technically bearhugging dudes like this lol
ukemi: the art of falling (basically practice). Even if he repositions his feet, the goal is the break the hold and push him back. Not everyone falls because of technique. Shit happens and nothing works 100% perfect all the time.
you can also just fall backwards and roll yoll end up ontop of him.

Why not just poke the eye? :P

There's nothing stopping him from jamming the thumb in the eye as he turns the head. It's just not nice to do to your training partners :)
