Project Argus (the SETI league) developed a good template for people building their own earth stations-using old C-band dishes,modded feedhorns,GaAs FET LNA's, the very popular Icom R7000/8500 (with a disabled AGC) - and now the move is toward SDR with DSP. @ianflowforever Correct, This signal is the only valid signal that stands as a signal from another world. Of course it could be something else but this is just the best by far. So many other signals have been detected and proven not to be, so being unable to prove this than an intelligently controlled signal seems the most likeliest explanation, especially when the signal came from a star rich area that are like our own sun and in terms of age. Its very cool stuff.

The smallest hornet was in a region of young stars, but the second hornet has a region of older stars, well a good mix of aged stars etc, i will find you some links later that used as points of research for daves video. You have to be careful, some, most sites are unreliable. You really want the most informative scientifically which tells of the possibilities as well as other possible explanations. It could be real, it might not be. thnx

@maxcado If you read the report on debunkers claims, even they at the time concluded it wasnt earth origin since it would take a piece of space debris to reflect this signal, but the debris would have to behave in a way that isnt possible in earth orbit to do so. Plus the frequency is under protected spectrum under international agreement. Plus if aliens wanted to send a signal, the hydrogen frequency is the best since it reduces energy losses.

It also rose and fell in intensity just like you'd expect from a space-based source. If someone faked the signal, they sure knew what they were doing.

@tron81 Also, the signal changed in intensity because of the telescopes fixed position as it pointed more to the source, then away within the hornet. A space based source would have to be placed within geocentric orbit to do that. In 1977, not many satellites existed in that sort of orbit in comparison to todays so it shouldnt be too hard for debunkers to find the exact satellite which caused it.
