I loved playing this game! While I was very disappointed with BZ II, this is still by far the BESTgame that blended FPS & RTS so seamlessly together!! It's a pity the servers are gone. I'd still love playing this!

I just discovered that my brand new GTX 480 superclocked absolutely refuses to run this game properly, no matter how much I screw with Battezone's render.cfg file and the Nvidia control panel settings :(.

you can totally skip this mission :O

you can solo your way over the cliff, ending up above the structure you need to investigate, and thereby bypassing everything(the base, the enemies, etc )

there's no universal vista/dx10 patch for bz (yet), but check technical support on a bz forum from my profile... lot of vista issues have been solved there.

I scrap the CCA battalion too :D But I didn't do it in my video of the mission because I try to keep my videos short if possible. :P Normally, I build a full outpost outside the enemy base, and watch as my tanks and gun towers trash the entire battalion.

@JackemFilms Its fun coz you drive cool hovercrafts, with fun mechanics, like driving on top of a cliff to jump high off of it and it feels like ur driving a cool engine with a gun killing enemies. And its SUPER fun for the fact its not just a fps, but its a strategy game, you command other units and factories, also can get new and improved weapons for your craft, customizing it a little for your preferrences. Also the setting is for some reason really fun. Us vs USSr is outdated, but still.

@tigermki : Sorry for delay. Just saw your message. It's the only game I have played so far that combines both action and strategy in real time. Most games focus on one or the other aspect of the gaming experience. And it was so ahead of its time. Even the new games now are so focused on nice graphics that they forget why people want to play. I am talking about battlezone I and the packs. Battlezone II on the other hand was just plain stupid.

Ahh, that atmosphere, still very much unsurpassed to this very day. The way the audio and the video effects played together to create that "being there"- feel is just something absolutely marvellous. Fantastic game. =)

You Know that it is possible to get on the cliffs and then press "I" on the Soviet Launch Pad from a safe distance without needing to engage the gun towers. (Then you don't need to pay so much money for repair and Ammo and your tanks can stay at your base).

Gun towers were easy to take out in strat. I would load my Tank with cannon. Gun Towers had a range of 200 ft. Set your tank at 201 and fire away.

Man, this is a great game - Base building, resource and force management, and most of all heart thumping action! Frame rates (were) very smooth with a 3dfx. This was one of the most underrated games in PC gaming history I suppose.
