  • i love how the cat isnt even paying attention its very used to Dave doing things in his lair

  • How you're able to create the table without your feline accomplice getting in the way/destroying everything is beyond me.

  • i alyways laugh when i go to the beach and theirs so much free sand

  • is sand from the beach fine

  • why do you paint it after and is it nesersarry

  • @FenderStratster the paint whould also help keep it all together +it changes the color a bit from a dark dense almost jungle dirt or volcano dirt to a more desert or beach/coast color

  • Painting dirt to make is look like dirt ?

  • Thanks mate

  • can you ise sand off a beach ?

  • @kunaiXfighter yes but it will take longer to fry as it will most likely be wet :D

  • @kunaiXfighter dry*

  • I did this yesterday and when i came in to check on the sand it did not glue on well and all the sand just fell off what did i do wrong i followed this to the letter!!!!!

  • can you just use dirt that is grindeed to fine

  • Faster way. Paint roller needed. 1:Roll on paint. 2. scatter that same stuff across table. roll on paint

  • Say I wanted to make a snowy / winter table.... Can I use this technique and just use white paint at the end? Or is there another way you recommend?

  • where did you gget the backsound / music ? :)

  • can i use wood glue to apply playground sand at the bases of my tomb kings

  • @naam123hj check out the video that they have on that very topic. Answer is yes.

  • The cat is awsome

  • Ok I've been looking everywhere for some kind of city terrain mat like they have with forest. It doesn't need rodes or anything extra just to appear like beat up concrete. Could I use this same concept and use black and greys to make it appear more concrete like?

  • If anyone likes the music in the background. Miniwargaming got the music from incompetech. The song's name is "Scheming Weasel." This is definitely Dave's song. xD

  • THE CAT XD lol

  • could you do the same kind of effect on lets say polystyrene or can u ONLY do this on wood?

  • @RedDemon73 Yeah this works fine on polystyrene too.

What I find helps is to water down your paint with a mix of water and PVA after you have applied and dusted off the sand - helps it get into the nooks and crannies as well as help bond the sand on a bit better

  • You play warhammer, your funny and you have a CAT! Could you be anymore awesome!!!!!!

  • im might make on with baking soda(SNOW!!!!!!!!)

  • Can i use any glue?

  • i love that the top rated comments are about cats not the table..

  • kitteh play warhamma? :P

  • what did you put the sand on is it wood or foam

  • @strangefire97 wood

  • What kind of glue is that?? like multipurpose, super glue.... etc cause im going to b&q to get some and i was wondoring if u had any ideas of waht type to get, as i am new to all this terrain making, as normally i just buy my terrain

  • I TAWT I TAW A PUDDY TAT! I DID I DID TEE A PUDDY TAT

  • loved the cat better than the video the cat completed it!!!

  • or poor butterfly but vid 10/10

  • nice bucket

  • cat! i love cats but not black cats oh by the way nice video

  • Get some sand from the beach!!!

  • 0:36 That's what HE said

  • what is this song

  • anyone notice at 2:12 that the cat is chasing a butterfly?

  • @MajorLeagueDoorKickr Awesome.

  • Lol, that car's keeping watch for you :D

  • a cat hahaha

  • I was just waiting for the cat to jump up on the table and leave cat craters.

  • hey when i made my table my dad was wondering why you water down the glue?

  • @funnsk8er it spreads better that way and lasts longer (when it has the consistency of paint) and it doesn't dry so quick I guess.

  • @funnsk8er so that you have more of it and don't have to buy a lot.

  • LOOK LOOK I SAW A PUDDYCAT

  • @MH4059 I did see a Puddycat I did!

  • he applies the sand with such finess

  • i making a game table and im making a rock tower thing which is is clumps of sand that are like big rock but i dont no what to do to it cu it will just crumble and i dont want to paint it with glue cus it might break so i dont know should i spray paint it cus i find when i started to paint it all the sand just came off!!??

  • careful dave if you look into the cats eyes you will be sucked dry of chaotic power ..... cats can DO THAT !!!!!!!

  • Look a question, and don´t take this the wrong way ;) i'm a warhammer myself :) so here it is: Why paint sand to make it look like sand, when mother nature is just providing us with sand witch is for us as humans all we know, so perfect sand, right ??? why paint it, oke, oke, maybe a small dry brush layer of bleached bone or something :) but that's it for me :)

  • @Bvzijverden So you can choose the color that best fits the terrain.

  • @AccelerationPictures Oke oke you got me there xD

  • lol dont think iv ever seen someone paint dirt

  • @zzbang24 yes, river sand is even better.

  • What game is this music from!!! Its driving me crazy, especially bc I play so few video games. Is it Banjo Kazooie?

  • hey what else can you use besides a giant piece of wood and sand and water and glue... well can you use something like fun foam...???

  • CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thetomahawkwarrior dave has allerges to cats. lol its his friends. >:) fear the kitteh dave!!!!

  • okay one way you can skip the sand part is buying a citidel battlemat its static grass on a 4x6 mat

  • I think Dave is really cool

  • matts' basement is pretty cool- and he has a beast cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey miniwargamming, Awesome video, how much will this cost? im planning on maybe having a go at this myself this weekend

  • Cool bored and cat im going to try to make my bored soon

  • 1;58 speaking of dumping the cat is there because he/she needs the little cats room and you stole the toilet

  • my dad hijacked my project and told me to shake the sand off after only a few minutes. now it is kinda thin. will it look the same?

  • Yah it will look good still

  • i must try this frst i gotta swip some wood would u reccomend using flock and and covering it with grass

  • It's easier if you have a roll paint brush. You simply roll the paint on the board or the flat surface you are going to paint. Cheers!

  • if only it was this easy in real life (insert sad face here)

  • you cat is cute :D

  • wow this is awesome..... now i know what they have at games workshop!!!

  • What color paint do you use? cause i was thinking of making a gameing table and i like how you made yours with the color. Thanks. (is the color yellow?)

  • absolutely do not use wet sand...its a way bigger hassle to deal with and it won't go on as smoothly/evenly. oh and for my board i used blank cd's for the terrain pieces...just covered the hole in the middle with duct tape, and applied the grass/paint. put trees and such ontop with clay bases...and viola. mobile terain. but yeah cd's are not large enough for buildings or anything.

  • @Tartersauce101 what about records? lol

  • the cat is awsome =)

  • @mrpatchoman Use a sealer, like a nice glue or resin

  • The paint will seal in the sand.

Put buildings on formica board so they aren't stationary. Remove them from the table when you are through so they won't get damaged.

Make hills out of foam board. There are tons of tutorials on yt to show you how. Don't glue them to the board, keep them modular.

  • why cant i hear you?

  • the cat is cool

  • lol the its the wargaming cat! :D

  • lol yh

  • lol

  • wow another guy searching for videos with so called "losers".

    here´s a tip:

Holy shit your a loser!!!!! Get of your computer and stop being an asshole!!!!

  • lol i didnt search this video i found it looking or paintball

  • @Herpkid56 wow good job at digging up an old ass debate but since u did come at me and your name makes me think u hav herpes i guess ill take a crack at you. ok for one do u know how many charity paintball events tht are held? no paintball itself is not much for society but the things u can do through it by using it as a doorway to other things in life are pretty nice. oh and paintball doesnt affect society in a negative light at all but dumb kids do.

  • @Herpkid56 @Herpkid56 hmm interesting u would call me a nazi wth no background knowledge of my racial prefference or proof that i am part of such a political party. no they are not guns that is a common misconception they are markers, they propel a ball filled with flourescent colored fluid to MARK other players thus labeling them out of the game. so does that answer your question? another thing i kno i deserve to die, im ready for tht day when i get to leave this hell whole called earth

  • @google1415 i do agree with the hell earth part

  • Hey google1415, why is it people like you say that the ones who put time/effort into making kick- ass miniatures or whatever has no life, yet your answer to that is "touch some boobies" or "get layed"? Is that really your vision of life?

  • Oh I think that actually having the patience to make a work of art is more than helping the Human race. Hell, without patience which eventually turns into more ideas, you wouldnt be able to film your nine second shitty videos which does what for the community again? Nothing. Now go kill yourself shithead, you'd be doing the world a favour. ^^

  • Everything you just said is the exact opposite of the truth. Miniatures can be painted not only for gaming, but maybe someone with creativity can turn it into a diorama, then it could be displayed in an ART museum. And if how does patience not have to do with ideas? Oh, no your right Albert just made the atomic bomb overnight, is that it? As for your videos, why film them if they're only nine seconds long anyway? You said yourself you dont bother making vids, so whats the point?

  • Positive comments tend to go further than negative....

    Dave your videos rock.

P.S. Your cat rocks too. You need more videos with him/her in it. Twas entertaining watching your catch watch outside, probably watching birds :)

    A little hunter...

P.S.S. - I have found that cats are good to have on your team while playing warhammer... when they jump on the table, hope that they go after your opponents models, not yours...

  • Look at 2:13, GO LITTLE HUNTER! (cat chasing bird)

  • ummm.......... you lost me, lol

  • I lost myself too....

  • lol

  • putting an idea in motion and having an idea r 2 different things and yes ideas do jst happen at the snap of a finger. is tht wat tis guy is doing ummm no dumbass hes playing games, tht is the wole point of his channel is to promote his game piece sales. i never said i dont make videos cuz tht would be an absolute lie i said "i dont spend my TIME making videos" not to mention those vids r a year old sooo your point is invalid.

  • Yes, ideas do happen out of the blue, but you must think on that idea, and improve it in order to become a reality. Much like how someone works on miniatures to make a full gaming scenario. The whole point of this guy's channel isnt just for game piece sales, he works on other things like help videos, tips/stragedies, and just for fun vids. Oh, and no matter how old a video is, it never loses it's value. Same goes with anything, art, music, structures, even people.

  • cant u use spray adhesive, and just get sand from the beach?

  • spray adhesive wont stick so well with sand and you'll loose sand all the time...verry annoying. Best just use white glue or wood glue. I dont even like the watering step because this again weakens the bond

  • yea, i learned that the hard way. luckily it wasnt a huge piece

  • spray adhesive goes well over the top of the sand as a protection layer to prevent sand flaking off, but white glue (pva as we call it in Australia) is a must for the bottom layer...

  • war40kforums_ com

  • how long did it take for you to do this whole video?

  • dave made a boo boo on the dumping of the sand it looked very very rough after he painted and dried it

  • To anyone trying this as home - top tips for a smoother surface:

    1. use a very thin layer of watery pva glue

    2. Use a sieve to sieve the sand onto the glue, do not just dump it on like in this video lol

    3. Get an old atomiser spray with a big exit nozzle - mix up some more PVA glue that very watery and mist over the board

    4. sieve on another layer

Personally I would leave ~2 hours before tilting the board so the excess falls off and another 4-5 hours before applying the second layer.

  • lol at 1:54 u can see ur cat in the window hahaha

  • 1:56 KITTYY!!!!

  • i miss this song they never play it anymore

  • hmm hmm hmm hmm hmmhmmh hmm hmmh hmm hmmmmmmm hu.

    lol

  • lol there is a cat in the window

    niiiice

  • lol the cat was funny!!

  • I don't get it is there any difference in painting your table and not painting it? If there is please somebody help me out.

  • Its all about preferences, if you want really realistic table then u can put any kind of terrain on it like desert sand, or maybe vulcano like sand. But if you don't want your miniatures to stand on sand, you can paint it.

  • The sand might not be the wanted colour and more importantly the sand will keep falling off, but if you paint over it, the paint hardens it and stops it from getting destroyed really quickly.

  • When you paint the table it helps hold the dirt in place.

  • Love the music

  • a tip for drying sand

Just scatter the sand out thinly across some paving or tarmac (sweep area before hand) on a sunny day. Wait half hour. There we go dry sand.

Ok, it wasn't much of a tip.

Also, you can buy dry sand, the sand is much thiner and without the small pebbles unlike you find in coarse. But saves the effort of drying it.

  • The cat is cute :)

  • if some 1 could tell me pretty fast which glue it is im making 1 very soon

  • its just white glue

  • just looked like pva glue
