  • Does anyone know how Link when out of that spinning state at 2:09? When a character is in that state, they can't use their aerial dodge. Since Link uses the aerial dodge to help get his hookshot closer to the stage, it is a valuable asset to this recovery. It's important for him to have that aerial dodge, but when a character is smashed away they almost always go into that spinning state. I can't figure out how to cancel it without using any type of aerial attack, but Aniki just did it.

  • @theonlynever61 Flick the control stick in the opposite direction you're traveling.

  • @OmegaMuffin498

which control stick? gray or yellow?

  • @fountainherz Gray one. The yellow stick is commonly referred to as just the "C-Stick" because of the C on it haha.

  • @OmegaMuffin498

    thanks!

  • Damn the Brawl Clawshot is so nerfed compared to the hookshot.

  • Aniki isn't flashy (except when he does his bomb/boomerang/dair combo), but his spacing is incredibly precise. He knows how far away he needs to be to punish Fox for reflecting projectiles, and he also consistently lands just a bit too far away for Fox to shield grab him (believe me, a lot of Link's moves are really easy to shield grab) while still within range to hit Fox with just about anything.

  • who would win, The germ or Aniki?

  • aww man at the last struggle for life that darn bomb wouldnt explode lol

  • omg 3:54 is one of the best recovery I've ever seen lol

  • i was never this good in melee, but watching these makes me want to play

  • @3ntertainer This. I used to think that I was the really good at melee because I manage to beat people around my neighborhood and in some small local tournaments but man, this is just intense, my main used to be Link (and sometimes Fox) and I was never this good ;--;

  • @gummyocto how did fox do that at 3:02, was it something he did or a glitch in the game

  • @jman733 It was something Link did, albeit unintentionally. At 3:00, Link throws a boomerang, and when you throw a boomerang, it always comes back to Link. Then Link did his Up+B, which would have clearly sent Fox back a considerable distance, but the returning boomerang cancelled Fox's knockback. Look at Fox's damage, and you'll see it increase from 103% to 106% because Fox got hit by the boomerang. Not a glitch. It's just that the returning boomerang has set knockback.

  • @jman733 no, link threw the boomerang first, then he did the spin attack, and when fox is in the air the boomerang returned and hit fox, that's why fox didn't die

  • @jman733 it was the boomerang

  • 0:58 o_O ....................wow

  • If you think about it, melee is the true better game.

  • One would think aniki would totally master the Link-Fox MU as he is masashi's brother xD

  • link v fox is probably the hardest match up there is. I would know. My best friends main is Fox and my main is Link. It took me like two months of practicing on 64 smash before I got to the level where I can beat him pretty much every time. Then we started playing melee. Now I lose every time again. which is bullshit. Fox really is too fast, at least for how strong his moves are, and the amount of recovery he has is simply unacceptable.

  • Aniki (N)

  • man. you know this is from 2006

  • 3:02 that fucken sucks

  • @gummyocto that has to be a link mains most disappointing moment in his career xD

  • @gummyocto - 2:34 and 3:02 both fuckin' suck

  • Wow, I really thought Aniki would have won that. Aniki seems to have difficulty playing against Foxes.

  • i know how he feels though i main link and a lot of people i know main fox and hes a royal pain in the ass to defeat. he has so many move that can blind side link its really annoying and links delays are deadly against foxes. (ie spin attack )

  • That's because Fox is the cheapest character you could play with in Super Smash Brothers Melee, he's rediculously fast. But then again I'm not one of those guys who plays SSBM every waking moment of my life, thus getting extremely good at a videogame, so naturally I don't stand a chance.

  • Are you saying you're Aniki?

  • @Valor06 Fox is the hardest to control. Don't talk if you don't understand what it is you're talking about.

  • @Valor06 fox is cheap if you dont know how to maneuver.. Ive raped every fo player ive gone against with link. link can be veeeerry cheap :D haha

  • 2:33 that happened to me a lot of times...

  • Rain is crazy good and Aniki is godly. He just messed up a bit other wise, I'd say he would've owned Rain.

  • Wow, someone actually beat Aniki.

  • fuck tiers. aniki is my hero. awesome player

  • agreed

  • Hahaha @ 2:15, dash dances right in his face xD

  • Are you dumb?

  • nah, shield grabbing with link or samus isnt very good because their grab takes too long to perform, especially against a fox player, shield grabbing wouldnt help him

  • actually, if helps a lot if you get a good opportunity.

  • But if he pulls it off, a down throw linked to a spin attack is really deadly against a light character like fox...

  • That combo is only good against noobs. It's useless against anyone who knows how to ground tech. That's why good players like Aniki never do it.

  • actually, it's more the perspective that aniki doesn't use it because the delay is too large and fox can get free killer usmash or combos off a missed grab. Link's shieldgrab isn't really slow, and samus's is super slow. Links is slow to reel in just like samus's grapple in that respect.

  • Aniki needs to learn how to shield grab imo.

  • LOL!!!

  • like 1:02-1:06, fox is like

    FIY---blam!

  • Oh my god. I laughed so hard at the boomerang at 1:02.

  • one question you know when aniki gets hit after doing his midair jump and then tumbles? how does he recover so fast. like prevent himself from tumbling faster than normal?

  • Ummm... Could you give me a time? Hard to understand what you mean. My guess though is he either: teched the hit, didn't fast fall, recovered by jamming the joystick right and left, or DI'd.

  • If your character starts tumbling after getting hit in the air, move your joystick left and right, back and forth... that usually cuts out the tumbling action and cuts straight to the recovered "neutral character in the air" frame.

  • He uses spotdodging better cause he doesnt wavedash, which is good in my opinion, it makes him unique and he can focus more on the general picture of playing instead of Wavedashing, shffling and whatnot but Ive seen him wavedash a few times, once was a super wavedash with samus

  • Aniki uses the Sidestep dodge very well (or whatever it's called to Taping te control stick down when shielding)

  • if only brawl was wifi then that would make the game extremely addicting..lol

  • It's already been confirmed at the official website a few days ago. Brawl is online!!

  • Yeah Aniki does seem to start off slightly losing then he starts owning. I also like how he hardly ever wavedashes, I think that makes him really unique and shows that wavedashing isnt neccessary, only useful.

  • link also has the 3rd shortest wavedash, i think, so yeah and stuff >_>

    lol

  • LOL. Aniki would rape you.

  • @haotshy and you would love every moment of it

  • he didnt switch hes the best in the world with bost characters jesus dont type something f u dont know it pros dont switch characters they just have secondary characters to counterpick god dammit ur dumb

  • Yes he did switch to Samus. But he's insane with Samus. Link and Samus are very similar characters. He's almost as good with Samus as he is with Link, and I think with a little time he'll be even better.

  • Anyone ever notice how Aniki always starts off losing, but then starts to kick butt. He's my hero. I'm definitely gonna start playing more as link.

  • did Aniki realy switch to samus becuase if he did that sucks i wont have anyone to learn from :( Aniki's videos taught me how to use link hope he uses him in brawl

  • Aniki rocks

  • Aniki is the best Link player on the world...point

  • An awesome fight between two great players.

  • Wow... I think 1/10 of all Aniki's damage comes from his bombs and boomerangs. Lol.

  • that laser can rack up damamge faster than anything else in the game...plus it forces people to come to you, whether they like it or not.

  • At 3:02 after Rain got hit by Aniki's attack, I thought he teched off of thin air. Then I a split second later I realised it was just Link's bomberang that cought him. It was tripy for a second or two.

  • 1st, Rain is not just another stupid Japanese fox, hes a world class player.

2nd, how about you post a video to prove that you can talk down to Rain.

3rd, fox's laser is not worthless, any amount of damage done to the opponenet is useful.

4th, its obvious your stupid if you think that there is only one way to win with a certain character.

  • bravo man, u showed that asshole a lesson

  • another stupid japanese fox , can any one tell to the japanese fox that YOU NEED TO SHUFFLE A LOT WITH FOX and that the LASER OF FOX ITS WORTHLESS only the falco its useful

  • your a fool if you think u need ot shuffle al ot wiht fox to win. Just watch ken's fox.

  • Aniki is an amazing player, but no one can win them all.

  • 2:35 let's go suicidal

  • LOL!
