My College professors say "Social Networking is the only way to get jobs in your field!". As for me I was like "Um yeah, have fun with that while I go and focus on my skills..." and then later on I landed an awesome job without that social network crap! :D
@GameaPlaya yea, I do use social network but I NEVER count on it to help me with work haha. people are trying to count on new technology way too much and it's effecting peoples true performance. I love the social network but I don't make it my main source of everything. you keep dong what you doing playa
You know, I'd probably would join Linkedin if I didn't have a major problem with the sheer over-reliance on personal contacts instead of actual merit to get employed. I really wish the EEOC would actually do something about this sort of crap.
Man, the business world is waaaaay too focused on ass-kissing instead of actually getting something done. No wonder the corporate ladder is so fucking difficult to climb.
I guess you guys need to do more research on the site before you judge it. Linkedin is "it" the new thing to find a job. Create a profile, send those profile to jobs you are applying for. It is an all in one resume cover letter, letters of recommendation. All the major companies are using linkedin to research an applicant. i highly suggest you get "in"
true, but you also have to Combine that with physical contact and follow-up. so many people will apply online and off that it's better if you meet them in person as well or know someone through that to work with it.
heck at my job which in itself is low ranking, the only reason I was hired was because I agreed to work any day and met the manager several times so she know who I was. that got me the interview I needed for it. so if that's what one needs for a cashier higher up is way worse.
Sadly, the rich aren't rich anymore. They are struggling just like the rest of us. It may get to the point one day where everyone may have their turn being a greeter at the local Wal-Mart.
LinkedIn is a social networking site with a focus on professional connections, whether they be friendships or co-workers, people who can vouch for you. The idea is even if you don't know "people", perhaps your connections do. They can find you through their immediate connections, tapping into your "network", and ask the connections they know about you, as someone they may want to work with. That's the best I can tell, but having said that I've gotten no usefulness out of it.
It's all about the song at the end. I think that is the official Lined In song. "You gotta link yo'self to people, who don't have a job, you gotta link yo' ass up!".
I received a lot of invitations about joining Linked in but never bother joining since I'm too lazy lol... I even don't have twitter... maybe I'm so out of technology.... :)) :))
Why would you want more people in the desert? The water you have is going to end even faster...
