  • "Indeed, the failed effort to close Guantanamo was reflective of the aspects of Obama’s leadership style that continue to distress his liberal base — a willingness to allow room for compromise and a passivity that at times permits opponents to set the agenda." --Washington Post, April 23, 2011

  • obama you little worthless shit, we know your wife beats a pulp out of you, you bitch, go and die you cocksucker you fucking liar.

  • epic fail obama

  • Obama is an epic phail

  • Obama is a liar and an NWO puppet

  • woman ur english .. is soooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

  • Yaaa u fukin liar..

i dun c ih closed yet.

    FUCKIN AMERICANS

  • Lets vote Obama so he can lie to us over and over again just another president come and gone and has done nothing. If Guantanamo Bay closes where will the prisoners go to state prisons? Where they have a right to an attorney? And guess who pays for the attorney? THE TAXES WE PAY?!? You can't release them cause they will just go right back where they came from Al-Queda.

  • @ruizcures432

Your american, ye ? Listen, yank - the scum we didnt want in europe, the criminals we wanted to get rid of so badly we didnt even kill them, they went and built your shitplace of a nation. Its build on the morales of murderes and rapists that teamed up to do genocide for crying out loud! And now, a few houndred years down the line (lol, 200years and u claim 'culture'!) youre just showing us that we would have been better off with dead criminals, and happy Native Americans ;o)

  • Wow , so he lied yet AGAIN , his first 3 hours as president he promises to close Guantanamo by Jan 10 , 2010 ... and now maybe it wont close till 2011 , what a Liar. I say let him finish his crappy term of lies and bring in somebody who at least keeps their promises

  • Nah,

It is not about the prisoners or anything. This is to please muslim Countries, and leaders who he is shaking hands with. He will bring them here and make sure they don't suffer; keep them as prisoners nonetheless, but give good treatment to make peace with radical muslim Countries; these killers are their heros and martyrs. It is another way of signing a deal at our expense, weakening our Nation before our enemies and the World. We will be sold out soon to the New World Order.

  • We are NOT at war with the "Muslims". We are at war with extremists. The Senate voted 79-19 to move the remaining detainees to US soil for trial by years end. The bill is on the President's desk. So, when someone asks you if the President kept his promise on closing Gitmo, you can proudly say YES! God Bless you President Obama! You rock!

  • Closing Guantanamo is just a PR stunt. The gov. will just have to spend billions on a new facility in the states--then we're going to have to put up with all of this NIMBY crap. It is going to be a mess.

Plus the commission just got rolling after 4 years. Now we are going to have major set backs again and people will be detained for much longer.

  • Looks like Guantanamo is closing by years end as President Obama promised. We are not building new facilities to bring the suspected terrorists to trial. FINALLY America is doing the right thing. Thank you President Obama and Attorney General, Eric Holder. After 7 years of bush/cheney murdering 4,500 of our soldiers and 88,000 innocent Iraqi civilians, we are finally on the right track. bush is a mass murderer and war criminal. I hope he likes the heat, cause where he is going it is pretty hot!

  • " 88,000 innocent Iraqi civilians"

Wow, I thought it was 400, 000 or 1,000,000..or whatever the left pulled out of their ass for that day.

Actually I thought it was closer to 100, 000.....blame the murders on clinton, the one whose really responsible.

  • No one is pulling anything out of anyones ass. It is hard to count the innocents killed, but for sure it is over 88,000. If one of those 88,000 was YOUR child, it wouldn't matter if it was 400,000 or a million. As for Clinton, he wanted to go after bin Laden twice. His advisors told him too many civilians would die. So what happens? 9/11.. Then what do we do? Invade Iraq? What the fuck? bush knew Al-Qaeda was our #1 threat and he didn't do shit either! The blood is on clinton's and bush's hands!

  • clinton worried about getting the nobel peace prize more than he was worried about getting bin laden. M.Albright is on record as saying so when she stated it would be a bad time to bomb muslims when clinton was shilling for it.

How the fuck do you know if a family member of mine ever died in a war? Are you now going to say the same thing about Obama concerning the childeren gtting killed in afghanistan right now?.....or is that Bush's fault too?

  • How the fuck do I know a family member of yours died in Iraq or Aghanistan? Cause you had the audacity to compare the death rate in Irag to some other war. Like I said, whether it is 1 or 88,0000, it is too many. That was an illegal, immoral, and needless war. bush lied repeatedly to Congress and to you and me to justify Iraq. And yes, if we hadn't dicked around in Iraq, we would be out of Afghanistan. Congress doesn't want to fund that war either. We won't be there much longer.

  • bush's response to 9/11 was such a catistrophic failure of epic proportions, it is almost laughable. That fuck didn't do ONE thing right. The surge? What a joke. LIke putting a bandaid on a guy that got his leg chopped off. He ruined our reputation around the world. Mark my words, the chickens haven't come home to roost yet from that nightmarish administration. Major damage done!

  • Why did you respond to me? You didn't address anything I was talking about.

    But while you are here:

I voted for Obama, but it seems like he is going to get just as many people killed--just in Afghanistan this time. Obama's just moved the war. Just as many people are dying and will die. Not like we'll be out of Afghanistan in the next 10 8 years.

And, to be far. 88,000 is a lot less than the Democrat presidents killed in Vietnam.

  • Agree with you on Afghanistan, but we wouldn't even be discussing that war if bush & company would have taken care of business there. We shouldn't be there, but to even have gone in to Iraq was idiotic. Whether 1 person or 88,000, it is mass murder. And the blood is on bush and cheney's hands, not to mention they are war criminals.

  • Oh, sure we would be in Afghanistan--regardless of what Bush did or didn't do. Getting Ben Laden would have hardly changed anything. Most U.S. Presidents enjoy bombing people. Name one who hasn't in the last 50 years.

Also, murder is a specific intent crime and kill someone is not per se a war crime. Would you call Clinton a war criminal? If Bush is, JFK most certainly was a war criminal. Right?

  • WTF? If we were not dicking around in Iraq for the last 7 years, and concentrated on Al-Qaeda, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If fucktard bush would have implemented the draft to invade Iraq, we never would have. Over 4,500 of our wonderful soldiers are dead, not to mention the thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians are dead because of bush. He will rot in hell for eternity. We go to war when we are threatened. Iraq NEVER was a threat to the United States. Please don't defend that shit!

  • No offense, but I think that's a bit naive. How many times have the U.S. and the Russians failed in Afghanistan? Ill-defined, political wars are aways black holes. Always.

I don't see how 4,500 dead soldiers in Iraq is an issue here. Under yours and Obama's plan, similar amounts of soldiers are/will die/dying. JFK had many more killed. Bush was nothing special. We go to war whenever we want. We have no reason to be in Afghanistan--or hardly a better reason than for going into Iraq.

  • I agree with you on Afghanistan. My point is right after 9/11, we should have had special forces go in and find bin-Laden. I believe we have the intelligence to find ANYONE. I am not worried about Afghanistan, Congress will not be funding that war much longer. I have been following it closely on C-Span. What I am angry about is Iraq. Waste of precious time and lives and I am tired of people sugar coating it. Gitmo, torture, and Iraq will be coming back to haunt us, mark my words!

  • Sure. We should have done a lot of things. Clinton should have done a lot of things and JFK should have done a lot of things. I don't think Bush did everything right by any means. But I was a history major and am a realist.

Not worried about Afghanistan? Boy, the Obama black hole is well on the way.

Well, just because Iraq was wrong in many ways, doesn't mean it was a waste per se. We will see about that in the coming years.

I agree with haunting us. Afghanistan will, again...

  • Yeah sure, mark my words, because of Obama' s puerile pettiness in blaming Bush for everything as he just did again today......by the end his term more than 5000 troops will have been killed in Afghanistan. Why? because he's weak and incompetent.....even worse than clinton.

  • Get honest with yourself. If BUSH didn't fuck around in Iraq, we would be OUT of Afghanistan by now. You might think President Obama is weak, but winning the Nobel Peace Prize tells YOU what the world thinks of him. Your party lost and lost big, stop whining!

  • I'm not whining about anything, You came pissing in my MB

-- winning the Nobel Peace Prize tells YOU what the world thinks of him --

Oh Gawd....yeah he's in great company with gore. why don't they give barry a wimbledon?.....eventually he may pick up tennis. I can spout arm chair war quarterbacking behind a PC too. Nothing goes right in a war....the enemy usually doesn't cooperate. Obama hasn't a accomplished a thing so stop with you're empty fucking hollow praise. It's obscene.

  • Just FYI, the Associate Press just notified me that October was the deadly month for U.S. troops in Afghanistan in the last 8 years.

This goes back to what I said about Obama making Bush mistakes by getting us in deeper in Afghanistan---and thinking it won't blow up in his face. Here comes Vietnam III.

  • No, I totally disagree. President Obama and his aids have heard the question, "Is this Obama's Vietnam?" He is for sure not going to let that happen. I am not sure about some things, but I would lay my money on this one!

  • I don't think it's a matter of "hearing the question" or a matter of what Obama wants to happen. Once you get involved in places like Vietnam and Afghanistan, you loose control--or rather, you are never in control.

Seeking a political victory is always a horrible idea because there rarely is such a thing. Rather, you begin a vague, undefined war--like Vietnam and Iraq II.

  • I do agree with you blur880, but I think that Congress is not going to allow the Afghanistan war to last much longer. Alot of the Democrats did not want to vote yes and the last appropriation war bill.

  • Well, I'm glad you agree. :) But, once you get involved in a messy political war the U.S. usually doesn't just leave. We get stuck in places for fear of the vacuum we'd leave if we left.

Change in the Middle East will take a decade at least. If we don't want to be there that long, we shouldn't even attempt anything. Obama is just getting us in even deeper.

It's odd how all American presidents need to be at war with someone. Don't you think? Humans. :)

  • I hear ya! The ONLY reason we should go to war is when we are in imminent danger. Period! I truly believe that if we would have sent in special forces right after 9/11 and hunted down bin Laden, we would have been ok. I believe we have the intelligence to track down ANYONE!

  • Perhaps. Though I am of the strong opinion that we have no idea what special forces did with bin Laden or what they ever do.

I do support use of special forces. It keeps wars and conflicts in the "military" rather than the "political" category, and the U.S. can easily win almost any military war.

  • No, we didn't send special forces after bin Laden. Actually cheney could have done something right. He wanted to send special forces, but bush shot him down on that. I don't know why. I heard cheney say that on YouTube somewhere, I will try to find it. I think bush and cheney disagreed on a lot of things, but cheney was really the power in the White House on foreign affairs issues.

  • Well, I don't think "No" was the proper response to my statement. I wasn't commenting on what politicians or agencies told the U.S. public about what did or didn't happen. To the contrary, my exact point was that I seriously doubt we ever are know close to the whole story.

And, yes, Bush and Cheney disagreed on about everything, but they played for the same team and played the game. I think this is pretty common knowledge.

  • I voted for Obama and like him fine for a President. All presidents tend to disappoint me. I think Obama is a good image regarding international relations, and I think he is very smart. But, I do think he was a bit naive early on in thinking things were going to be easier than they are now appearing, and I think he's naive regarding Afghanistan. Personally, I don't think Bush was the demon the left makes him out to be. He was just a President like all the rest. It's just politics.

  • First, thanks blurr880 for the civil conversation, I know I probably started out NOT being civil.

I am 50 years old. I liked Reagan, and didn't like Clinton. (Clinton was ok until he lied about the Monica thing!) Hate liers!

Now, about the last administration. When a President wins an election, whether Democrat or Republican gets my full respect and by the ends of their terms, I usually respect them just the same. (Con't.)

  • Not so when bush left office. We have yet to feel the pain of the decision for bush to lie to the American citizens and to Congress to attack Iraq. There was NO, NONE, ZERO reason for us to invade Iraq. We just told the world that we can justify attacking a country for no reason. We might as well have sent an invitation to the nations of the world to attack us if they THINK we have WMD's. Than the excuse was Saddam. Well, that is why God invented revolutions. (Con't.)

  • Yeah, I don't really think Bush lied to us about the overall war in Iraq. I DO think we weren't told everything at times, which is typical, and I do think the war was not managed correctly early on, especially. But what a lot of people include as lies are really just typical changes in military/political goals--just like in WWII and Vietnam. Now, I do disagree with the torture and other policies.

  • Many of American citizens have been worried about putting food on the table and not about the big world events that have gone on. I don't think people realize what is going to come back to haunt us in regard to Iraq, Gitmo, & torture. People want to sugar coat those issues. Like oh, we didn't torture, (ummm, they why won't they release those pictures?) I think bush was the worst President in US history. I think he is a war criminal and mass murderer. Same with cheney. I think they are both evil.

  • I'm more worried about Afghanistan haunting us than Iraq. Gitmo and torture will fade, though it has been horrible for image and PR alone. People forget more each day, unless we screw up again. I think closing Gitmo is naive, but it might be an okay PR move--a logistic nightmare, though.

I'm okay with not releasing the pictures. I think it was the right move.

  • I think people think Bush is the worse president in U.S. history because people are too far removed from most of the presidents through history. And, it depends on what your issues are. Bush extended Daylight Savings Time for me so I can bike longer in the spring and fall!!!!!! I LOVE HIM FOR THAT! :)

It's interesting to contrast your statement about Bush with the fact that he has the highest presidential approval rating on record. Just food for thought.

  • You are correct! bush w. had the highest rating of 92% right after 9/11 and he went in to Afghanistan.

bush w. also had the lowest rating of any President at 19% when he left office.

He had the highest rating and lowest rating of any American President!

  • I'm not seeing 19% anywhere (not saying it isn't so). I do see 22 and 25. It depends on your body of statistics. Many of the sources I'm reviewing again have Nixon and Truman with lower approval ratings--and many presidents with lower average approval ratings. Also, as a historian, I can name a few 1800s presidents who could easily run against Bush as worst President ever. :)

I just think we all have our panties in bunches now. :) Bush wasn't far off when he compared himself to Truman.

  • I sent you the website where I received the highest and lowest Presidential ratings.

  • Close Gitmo? Ha!

Just a political bone to throw to his far left liberal base. Keep'm bamboozled for a bit.

  • Close Gitmo? Ha! Well, today the Senate voted 79-19 to move all the suspected terrorists to US soil for trial. This is NOT a political "bone" that anyone is throwing to the far left liberal base. This is reality Cowboy!

  • I would be more concernerd about the failing economy and loss of job wages, than Guantanamo Prison.

  • u guys like this shit...

hes letting out suspected terrorists by closisng the prision..

  • You guys do realize by closing Guantanamo Prison, where do you think all of these countless terriostist will be placed? Thats right in America. Your talking about people who are america's top most dangerious killers, and your going to put them into our country and our legal system...sounds like a Bad first move as president.

  • Thank unow i know someone understands that obamas been stupid sso far....

Dear god i know you always listen to me but pls I am bored of the monkey and his real muslim monkey family can you................... pls :)

  • its starin to make sense but... its too late

  • Close Gitmo = Kill Americans!

  • Obama is disappointed regarding oversight of the bailout? It was the Democrat dominated House of Representatives that pushed the entire package! Bush is out the door. Time to spot blaming the White house for actions of the Congress.

I almost expect Barney Frank to step forward any day, and say,

"It's all Bush's fault, he didn't stop us from being stOOOOpid."

  • If the USA want the respect of the whole world they must be the first to respect the International Humanitarian Law. This step taken by the President Obama will be beneficial not only to the many detainees whose cases will be reviewed one by one, but also to Americans, especially those who are sensible and believe in justice and should not pay the consequences of the atrocities committed by the American soldiers all over the world.

  • You guys that was one of the most dumbest first moves ever freeing terrorists stupid fuck and you all say he was gonna be great. This is just a taste of how evil obama really is.You all should of studied obama before letting him run the country.

  • great prasident

  • lol its funny that the first thing this guy does as president is free terrorists. way to go jack asses

  • Actually, he is not freeing them. You do realize your golden boy, and lover George W. "vacation" Bush freed 462 Gitmo prisoners right? FOUR-HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO.

  • about time, i've no doubt a lot of the people in there are guilty, but they should be dealt with in a way that is legal, gauntanamo reminds me of a soviet gulag

  • Wow, forgot about sept.11 already? This is who america voted for?

  • I thought that Obama was going to reach out to the other side. This first move by Obama is FAR LEFT WING.

  • yeah obama the best finisheh torture prision !!! gracias obama por empezar de la mejor forma .. esa carcel era inhumano lo que le hacen a los presos

  • I can see the TARGET on AMERICA'S back getting bigger. Good job HUSSEIN! Who will y'all credulous people blame when another 9/11 happens. Give terrorists and inch and they will take a mile. Good job MUSLIM HUSSEIN OBAMA!!!!!!!!!

  • yea....

    do you live in america?!?!?!?!

  • You do know Bush freed 462 gitmo prisoners and 51 of them are back in the mid-east as terrorists again, right? Obama said within 1 YEAR he will close Gitmo, and hasn't even discussed where they will be put yet. What are you stupid or something?

  • the only reason hes doing this is cos obama is muslim and doesnt want to see muslims being tortured

  • they shouldnt be!

its jail they get locked up and get as best they can.

  • what was funny ?

  • what?

i didnt say anything was funny....

  • It's about time they closed this concentration camp, how can americans get away with such crimes against humanity.

  • concentration camp ? They should put Kalid Sheikh Mohammad at a prison close to where you live.

  • haha lol!

  • hah, border security, try 8000 drug war victims in mexico since 2005, it's a mess
