You say that everything can't exist without something creating it, yet you believe that God existed without anything creating him. Now if the THEORY of the Big Bang is true then it would appear that there would have to be a catalyst to create something out of nothing, but the Big Bang Theory is just a theory and disproving it doesn't prove the Creationist theory. For all we know, the Universe could have always been, with no beginning or end just like how you conceive your God as being eternal.
Who can put a label on what that something is? Is it Jesus? Allah? Why do we assume it is a somebody at all. Nobody knows for sure. Atheist don't know for sure. Just reject the available options as unlikely. The truth is we DON'T know.
rapid expansionist don't believe that something came from nothing. maybe you should do research before you blindly antogonize an entire portion of the population. most of them are not tryin to disprove god to you. unlike most thiest you wanna shove their religeon down your throat. athiest don't really care if you waste your life being scared of something that doesn't exist. they're not angry at you for it, they're just dissapointed that the world is going forward and theist refuse to go with it.
So we get the very old uncaused cause AND the "glory of god" arguments AND a creepy C3PO voice thing going on. Plus a rockin' mask. For creativity you get an 'A'. Now work on intellectual content and we can get the rest of your grades up.
God creation-nuts are hilarious. The big bang theory does not state that something came from nothing. All that matter was already there, compressed. Nothing in has ever been shown that something comes from nothing in science. The ONLY thing that claims something came from nothing is religion. How ironic!
Your argument is flawed and easily refutable. The presentation is very creative though. I'd like and favourite it to give praise to your imagination if the content wasn't so... erroneous.
No god isn't what is bothering him. It's dumbass people like you who lead our country into a repetetive cycle of, "you do something I don't therefore it is wrong" followed by judgement then punishment. Make no mistake you are a cancer. Santa Clause doesn't exist. The tooth fairy doesn't exist, you agree norse and greek mythology can not exist, so why do you believe in the same fucking thing the norse and greeks believed in, only instead of many gods there is one. Are you all mad in a bad way?
The bible was not in any way written by an all knowing God. An all knowing God does not have regrets over their own actions, change their mind or contradict themselves in writing about never changing their mind. Read Exodus32: 14 and then read 1Samuel15: 11 & 29.
Rather you agree that religion has negatively effected the species or not, it should be quite clear by now why people are stepping up to challenge religions. To pretend not to understand is a massive demonstration of ignorance and a lack of sense. A question for @sumtruth: do you fear the consequences of a confrontation with Allah or Zeuse? Do you fear the threat of being sent to Tartarus for eternity?
WTF!!!!!!!!! Does this seem sane to any of you??? This is one of the dangers of religion. Normally this guy would be considered crazy (and a little cheesy). Nobody would want their kids near him. However, because he is christian, suddenly he's "spiritual". @AmazingAtheist has already made it clear in his other videos why he challenges christianity. He believes it has a negative effect on mankind. If you want a more in depth explanation, please watch: Atheists SECRETLY believe in Yahweh.
@DemonicCannibalism ok, I will prove it to you. I will tell you, if you don't want the proof though you waste your time. You must have a love of the Truth in order to receive it.
ok, I have I am just reading over my other comments, I already proved it, and I already gave references. Did you look into them? tell me your understanding on what I said, and what Chuck Missler Taught please.
@DemonicCannibalism .....regarding time, this is why God could answer a prayer, not being bound by time, that joshua prayed. When He prayed, for some extra time in the day, to fight a battle against some of his enemies. It was the battle where, Joshua, and another guy held up Moses Arms, while he sat on a stone.
Chuck missler has a great series on it that is called, mystery of the planet mars, I believe. Beyond space and time is good also.
@DemonicCannibalism where you have missed it is in the creation of time. God made time, so for you to ask who made God, like there was a time when God did not exist, God always existed. I am a person that was made in time, so for me to talk about a time, when there was no time, is difficult. But before time, I don't even know if that is a right statement, but before time God was, as made time. This is why Jesus could say, before Abraham was I am.
Confrontation? Show your damn face if your not afraid of confrontation. Really...you are human, the same as the rest of us. State your facts and let them stand on their own. If you your facts can't stand on their own then they really aren't facts then, right?
he believes there is no god so he tries to make everyone else see his reasoning, it is more logical than the god shit so that is why he has a lot of followers. there is no hard evidence that god exists. there are only suggestions that with enough exploration can be have been and WILL be solved for more than god. god is just a way of saying i don't know so lets act like i do.
@upthedownsterio quite a bit of evidence, maybe some evidence that you don't want to look at, but there is lots. I would be happy to let you know some of those things.
You do exactly what sumtruth says here you know, you are afraid of the consequences. If you are interested in logic, I would recommend a guy a to you, Phil Fernandez, very good speaker, very logical.
Funny how everything must have a beginning, and yet somehow this mythical God is exempt from that same rule. Ask any Christian and they say, "God always existed", or "God wasn't created".
Well guess that blows the whole "everything must have a beginning" theory right out of the water. Sorry theists, you are still lame.
@HEYIPWNYOU@HEYIPWNYOU everything leads back to God. behind every door there is God. if God had a creator, then where did he come from? then where did he come from? and where did that creator come from? the bottom line is that science says everything must have a beginning, but if you think about it, it doesn't make sense. someone or something must be infinite—which is ultimately God.
@lemonsnickers1 Even supposing that your theory is true, what makes this original creator the Christian God? Why not Zeus or Thor or Allah, or Vishnu?
I find it laughable that religious folks always point to the first cause argument and say, "see the first cause must be God because where did everything come from?" Yet that same religious person will absolve this supposed God from the same argument when the atheist asks the first cause of God. Religious double standard for teh win!
@Mahgwa Ah, but you're jumping to conclusions. Never did I "absolve". I'll never pardon myself for what I believe in. First off: do your homework. Zeus: was the son of Chronos and Rhea. Thor: son of Odin came from Asgard, which is like mount Olympus. Allah = god (Allah means "one god") come from the ancient moon god, and there's Muhammad attached. Vishnu: supreme over the other gods. What's the common denominator? There are several gods in these religions with parents. Christianity: ONE GOD.
@Mahgwa And my point in explaining the “Russian doll” effect with God is that at some point there has to be some kind of being of higher power and infinite time. The universe can’t just BE or happen because it wants to. Before everything there was nothing. What happened? Did the singularity explode from nonexistent space? Somewhere along the lines the only thing that can make sense is for there to be God.
Your missing the point; he was using those Gods as an example of what people, like yourself, try to believe in. You see primitive man made up God(s) to help explain stuff we didn't really understand. It's understandable as to why they did it but that doesn't give you an excuse since you're more educated than they were back then. I wish we had all the answer but we just don't know and neither did primitive man.
Hopefully you'll step outside the box and find your own answers.
@Justino292 first off, don't try to clump me into a stereotypical mold--you don't know me so you don't have the right.my point was no matter how much we know or how much science there is achieved, there's always something we're missing in the succession.there will always be,what came next?because there must be an origin. if it keeps going back, the only explanation is God.one of Sumtruth's quotes ring true here"Small amounts of philosophy lead to atheism, but larger amounts bring us back to God"
I'm sorry if you think I'm making a "stereotypical mold" out of you but that's not my intent. Anyway lets just say that you're correct and there's a higher being that created everything. But how can you be so sure that he is your God instead of a different one? How can primitive man know so much more about the universe than modern man today? If there's an origin to everything than what is God's origin?
Yet you can't even answer simple questions but that's fine by me. Yes I have read your previous comments but aren't really valid answers to them. Everything has a beginning and an end no matter how many times you to deny it. I will read a quote from the Bible itself [updated version 2007]....
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End." Revelation 22:13
There truly must be an end to everything for it is in the Bible. Uh oh must defeat the infinite theory.
@Justino292 reading is one thing, however, comprehending is another. much the same with the difference of hearing and listening. and it's infinite going back, not infinite going forward. everything has a point of origin and an end. of course we can see the end of everything due to the facts and processes of science. so, naturally, the problem is in the beginning, which we cannot use science to go back that far. there will always be something missing in succession, which makes your debate invalid
Yes you're exactly right for I cannot begin to comprehend your comments nor is my debate valid by a long shot. Yet your debate seems to be valid by saying that primitive man knew way more about how everything in the universe than modern man with? Also why is it that you cannot seem to answer my questions by avoiding them?
@Justino292 go back and do your homework. i'm not spoon feeding you. someone else has already asked me the exact same questions and i've already answered them. i'm not avoiding anything. the only question you asked that has not been answered: "primitive man" did not know more than we do, and this is why through everything i've ever written i have relied on modern science as reference and guidance. so, again, your argument is nonessential and invalid to my initial philosophy
I really feel sorry for you. You're a very insulting, closed minded, can't answer any simple question person. I asked you 3 questions to which only one answered was done poorly. I really hope you'll be able to actually have a civilized debate without insulting someone.
It was great debating with you but please do yourself a favor and step outside of your box. Thank you!
@Justino292 i never asked for your mock-pity.i have never insulted you.i have never once called you any names or have ever been alarmingly disrespectful.i am merely explaining my point of view, which,by the way,you have chosen to attack numerously.so it is you who has disrespected me,not to mention have been sadistically sarcastic.do not be the victim here--i have done nothing to you.you call me close-minded and command me to step out of a box that doesn't exist around me.you are the persecutor.
You accused me of making a "stereotypical mold" out of you, which I wasn't doing. Now you accuse me of playing the victim? I was just mentioning your faults in the debate, just like you did to me. I was mainly trying to get a better understanding on your position is all.
Look I'll be the adult here and say that I'm sorry for any misinterpretations you had of me of my "attacks" on you for it wasn't my intentions to do so. I hope you have a nice day and nice debating. =]
@Justino292 jumping to conclusions about someone and placing them in a category in which they don't belong is called stereotyping. and yes, you were playing the victim--you told me a string of insults and told me i was uncivilized. "look ill be the adult here"...as oppose to myself? oh no, that's not insulting at all. psh, and that wasn't a debate. that was you asking me over and over the same things i've already answered.mentioning faults? no. making personal attacks? yes.
2.) I asked you of the same questions only because you avoided them. [1/3 answered.]
3.) When you say to someone to "go back and do your homework," is kind of insulting.
4.) I'm the only one here acting mature enough to say sorry to something they didn't do. I said it twice and I won't say it again. If you want to be immature by not accepting it then that's your choice. [No personal attacks intended.]
1) stereotyping me as being just another Christian by telling me to step out of a box that im not even in.I rationalize everything by God and science.i believe there is a harmony no one sees
2) i'm sorry, but i really don't feel like repeating myself. my answers are in the other comments
3) I didn't think telling you to go back to read what i wrote was too much to ask for
4) Ok,so this time you're blatantly calling me immature.and name-calling is being adult,right?whatever.
@HEYIPWNYOU the big bang theory states the point of singularity is matter to energy and energy to matter, which means the universe explode, and then implode on itself making it infinite. however, where did the energy and matter come from? Atoms? and where did they come from? a black hole? and where did THAT come from? the theorists themselves have said they don’t know, which is why it’s only a theory.
@PostITnoteGUY It depends on how you look at it. As a Christian, I believe God created us. Obviously, we're made with the capacity to think, be creative and learn. In the Bible, it's taught that though we're to have the hearts of children, we're also to grow wise and take care of the world he made. How better to do that than to go learn about the world? Science, whether it's biological, social, etc. is the method. And it's fun. The more we can find out the more we see how amazing God is!
I left this comment on so many you tube post and never got anyone to answere, and honestly i think i wont get yet another response but i have some hope maybe one day i will. What religeon is right there are so many in fact in my own town we have at least ten christian churches that all say they believe in god but have diffrent beliefs then the other churches, that is confusing enough since they all say they follow the Kings James bible..are there ten diffrent Gods then in my home town.
@johndebbra The studying and understanding of what it means to follow Jesus is primarily done individually as it's up to the individual to willingly decide to choose to say yes to Jesus. Going to church (fellowship) while very important, is merely complimentary in comparison.
Christians aren't meant to fight about which set of religious protocol is right and focus on what is important. The shared principle is that there is 1 God to whom we can reach by first accepting Jesus' gift of Salvation.
Any church that is really a Christian Church will definitely have the same core principles. Beyond that, fighting is not really necessary, cuz there should not be a fight for who has a better church as the goal is to fellowship together and grow as the body of Christ.
As for 'is Christianity the real deal', At this time, I would just ask you: By looking at it with pure logic, don't you think it's the one that makes the most sense? It's worth checking into. This choice literally means everything
No, the Bible is a book, Hawking is a person. So this would be correcter: "Given he choice between 'the 4000-year dead scruffy goat herders who wrote the retarded stuff in the bible like women being made from the ribs of men' and 'Steven Hawking', I choose, Hawking."
There must be a beginning of matter and time, and logically, neither can or should exist without being purposely created. Thus, God is the most logical answer.
Sorry if you've met judgmental Christians. It's completely wrong (of course). I guess it's to be expected, being human and all.
How is Steven Hawking a choice? If and only if he can actually test his THEORIES with sound proof, then we can give him a shot.
@mukeh111 steven Hawkings work is based on educated theories, based off years of research. observations and the hubble telescope, I noticed that Hawkings and Carl Segan always used the words " is it Possibles, perhaps, and may have, and maybe, never saying that their educated theories are 100% the truth, they never say, we're right and we know it. some of their theories ARE being tested, which is one of the purposes of CERN..
@RascalCoyote I admit it. I haven't fully read Hawkings' latest book. But I understand his main point and some details. I think that it's a solid theory, to put it simply, how God is not necessary since because we have such a thing as gravity, we can exist without there being a God. I accept the theory, but I reject it's conclusions simply because I believe Creation gives sound logical meaning and purpose to the existence life and because I have personally found my Savior.
@RascalCoyote Even if Hawkins is 100% right, the bigger picture shows that it means nothing to us. With God, it means everything. It would be a great breakthrough for Science. It would have been proven that God wouldn't be necessary for our existence. The thing is, it still doesn't disprove God. That's the thing about science, it's fully compatible with the existence of God no matter what the interpretation.
Science is awesome. It is a wonderful complement to Christianity.
@RascalCoyote I am one Christian who totally respects Science, and believe me, there are plenty of Christians like me. I totally respect the brilliant physicist, Steven Hawkings. I just respect and love God and what Jesus did for our sakes much much more.
I resent what SSTTEEAALLTTHH said about the Bible because I don't see it that way. If only he/she can explain exactly what's 'retarded' about the Bible, we could have a more constructive discussion.
@mukeh111 I'll be honest here, every bit of proof Hawkings HAS is flat out rejected by the christian community, in fact they refuse to even READ his latest book before rejecting it, they just rejected his work by the title and intro alone, they reject him and his work based purely on the fact, that he is for the most part, an atheist.
@mukeh111 I don't what it is you Christians want, what proof your looking for, because every new milestone, every new piece of evidence, every fossil dug up, every new piece of the puzzle Hawkings finds, is flat out rejected with out even a single glance. You Christians even go so far as to call all the Fossils proving evolution fakes with out being able to prove it. How can we or hawkings prove anything to a community that refuses to except anything and every thing he puts out?
If we think deeply of the meaning of reality, we must agree that there must be an ultimate reality, where the truth is not hidden and where things can be seen as they really are. Faith is believing in this...that there is a God that created us, and thus made us for a purpose. Faith is knowing that no matter how much we think we know of our existence, there is always something more to it than meets our human eye. And that thing is an important truth we need to find out.
@mukeh111 This sort of what I believe, we are part of something greater then us, but I don't believe it's this Christian god, or this jesus, I believe in the after life, and it is there we find out what this greater reality is, what the real truth is.
good stuff man my girlfriend got me to watch the red and blue pill thing and then i got addicted to your videos and now i cant stop watching i have an open mind and your videos are speaking to me
I like how the excuse for the Big Bang's ocurrence was due to time. Wave the little wand called time and all comes into existence. To me thats seems to require more faith than faith in God.
"But in most cases the greatest obstacle in accepting God is not the lack of arguments but the fear of the confrontation with its consequences. Just this should not be so; for if somebody accepts God, he should know that He is a loving God and everything good comes from Him, therefore someone looking for the truth should not have fear but have the confidence that God knows in the best way what is good for all man and he can find the fulfilment of his life only in Him." I like that one too.
Well newcoyote believe what you want to believe but me. I just have a feeling that we exist for a reason other then just existing. I wasn't even saying that I believe in any spiritual deity. I was just saying that there is more then cociousness then what we can percieve and that death is just a boundry. If you die you are reborn as a more advanced being. You are concious now. What is not to say that you could be again in a new dimensional plane. Not all things can be comprehended.
and so then youll say what about the begining of time? I say that begining does not exist just time will never stop, the universe will be expanding for all of eternity, i mean why does there have to be a begining? just because the universe was so small compared to yourself the universe was a mere molecule. and then youll say what about the big bang? I SAY GROWTH SPERT!!!!!!! thank you that is all
wait a minute... do you believe in this "god"? why do you religious types always say that there had to be something in the begining... why cant it just be that the universe always was, or why does it always have to be god that was the creator why not some other random shit. and so then youll say that the universe is always growing and expanding therfore it once was not here... I say that the universe was just small back then
Councious mind can exist outside the body under certain circumstances. Believe me I looked up videos with valid evidence. Besides what would you want to believe. To be headed somewhere and undergo an incredible transformation and evolve beyond that of a normal being or just think that we are careening towards nothingness and that we would cease to exist. I believe the former just for that reason. We have to be here for a purpose. We cannot be here just to be here without reason.
@jmario232 That is the stupidest thing I have heard.I can not stand the idea of me living as anything other than a billionaire. That's why I believe I am. Therefore it's true.
I would love to be a billionare one day. If only it was that easy to just believe you are and presto you are one. If it was like that life would be so easy
@jmario232 Kind of like believing all you have to do is believe there is life after death. It is too uncomfortable to believe otherwise there for I will. Presto. It is true. Facts jus don't work like that. Facts don't care what you believe.
Yeah the problem with people today is they simply believe in something and think it is true. They should only share their beliefs if there is evidence to support it. Anyway I have found evidence that helps support my theory so it is really is not complete and total nonsense. To me at least. We all have different opinions and that my friend is what makes us human
who's EVER said that something came from nothing? nothing about the big bang remotely suggests that. big bang is the expansion of compacted matter rapidly.
we may never know what started everything, where time started, and how. inserting some god as man has done thousands of times over our existence BEFORE christianity even existed. and in the almost certainly impossible reality that everything was created by a god, what in the universe about yours would suggest that IT is the ONE.
@phead80 And thanks for at least hearing me out man, also I heard a phrase one time "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" There's so much more things to discover, that I think it's fair to say, NO ONE REALLY KNOWS ABOUT THE PAST, of how everything happened, unless there was some time machine that lets us go back, and find it, it's still kind of impossible. I live in the now, and worry about my beliefs later.
@Shockheadd45 well that's the problem with religions shock, they claim they DO KNOW. and not only do they know how things came to be, they also claim to know how things end. to me and anyone with any kind of scientific understanding and a desire to learn, they've already been wrong about where we came from, so why the hell would we believe them about where we're going?
man, the whole point of being an atheist is not denying any sort of higher power, its the denying of YOUR god
you think "oh i couldnt exist by myself therefore THE GOD OF THE BIBLE is true"
you just link the god of the bible to creating the universe with no reason
even tho i don't believe in any god, i can still listen to anyone's rant that the universe was created by a god without getting pissed off, but when i hear someone use that to prove the god of the bible is true, thats annoying
Sorry Dr. Doom but I have to disagree with you this time. Amazing Atheist is not bothered by God he is bothered by the followers of God. Ones that are hypocritical, prejudiced, and corrupt. It is clear that you want your faith to inspire good in the world but Amazing Atheist has seen the dark side of faith. Would it be unrealistic to ask the two of you to cooperate peacefully for the greater good?
2) Athiests try to convert people to spread and science and progress. Religion stands in the way of Science because it represents change, and always contradicts the bible. Why do we push the agenda? If you were in a third world country with huge diseases that they claimed were due to being in the sun(everyone with the disease had been in the sun) would you not try to explain soap and hygiene rather than sit back and watch them spend their lives hiding from the sun(and continuing to get sick)
1) Why is it so hard to understand that the universe came from nothing? What did god come from? If you say that god is time, then why is it not reasonable to say that time is simply a property of the universe its self, ie its fourth dimension. The big bang created both time and space, or if you want to call it space/time then that is fine. There was nothing before. If you can't handle that why is it so easy to say that god has always been around? God would be an effect also.
were does GOD get these jokers from? jeeez comon i thought GOD can do better than that ......i guess i thought wrong.....i overestimated god...waaa waaa waaa
People try to have people stray from the faith because they have had people try just as hard to get them into the faith, and not through kindness and purity but through ridicule and fear. For one to join the faith, one must choose themselves to join the faith. You cant force people into the faith. Even if they get into it, they wont feel the real faith. Now it does work sometimes, but only a small percentage of the time.
The AA chooses what he believes and it is his life.
dude, get a grip, all religious people wonder of the path as you so put it,to make people believe in their beliefs,so why are you trying to threaten people to believe in your beliefs, and yes i said threatened, you know, the scary mask the scary music, oooooooo, you should be banned from youtube, fuckin idiot!
@FlashingSergio You really are something. would you mind awfully, telling us exactly who proved what, when and where?
Otherwise we might assume that you are correct and that there are some walking amongst us that are maybe half ape (you) or full ape (the amazing atheist or venomfangX)...
If had been proven by great physicists that there is a soul and it can be proven if you kill someone and then weight them you'll see a weird pattern read "DEATH:The Great Mystery of LIFE"
I'm saying that there's more than the Earth, and it needs to be taken into account. "Bullshit" isn't the word I'd use, but if we're the only life out there and it was designed just for us, what's the rest of it for?
The bible you so believe in mentions none of these things. It mentions god, that he makes the universe and the world and then us. That's it, nothing else. Second, why bother making it something to explore and look at? Why even bother making a planet? Just have a big, flat, dimensional plane on which everything happens. It's a lot more efficient. No need for a sun or orbits or gravity to explain any of God's creation.
Thought is based on electrical impulses in the brain, involving neurons and all of those sorts of things. Once the brain dies, the rest of the body shuts down, and your consciousness is simply gone. There's no after-experience, no personal reward for goodness, nothing. That's it. I will state again that if you don't start actually making valid points that aren't painfully easy to slap down, I'm going to end this argument. I can talk to someone with something of the slightest merit to say.
How can you say what we feel sometimes is greater is false, yet you haven't experienced it yourself?
We are on opposite sides, but I'll admit I have ventured into a thought of doubting God, before, but I have recovered from that. (It's actually too personal for me to admit, because it was hard for me to go through, and think about).
There doesn't "have" to be four. Our mind "drives us naturally", there are processes other than the forefront of your thoughts. Biological processes gave us life. And I have experienced this feeling you refer to. When I was younger, I did, but I grew out of it. I became rational. It seems some of us haven't grown out of that stage yet, sadly, where we cling to feelings as truth.
Nothing you claim to be divine can't be explained some other way.
What is the energy that sustains our life force, how were we created?
Yeah, by only your logic to persuade me "There doesn't have to be four". Whatever.
Wow, so all you Atheists basically used to be Christian or religious?
No wonder you guys don't look back on your past, and are ashamed of it. That's bullshit within itself. Science proves life, not God, and has nothing to do with it.
And most of the time what you feel is truer than senseless words.
As opposed to your logic to persuade me "there has to be four"? No, not all atheists used to be christian or religious. It's impossible to judge all atheists based on one, simply because atheism means one thing and one thing only; that they do not believe in a god. Nothing else. Any other belief can be way out there, as far as anyone else is concerned. Some people were probably never religious. Why does there have to be this mystical "energy" that sustains our "life force" anyway?
Well, I said "MAJORITY" but it still shows at least you guys had your roots, and branched away from them (At least you guys did experienced before going to the con side of religion). Well emotion has do with your spirit, how you feel on the inside, what makes you "tick". That's 3. Your soul is your inner moral compass, like do you think by nature, it decides with our mind whether, we are either good or evil, or both? (Like natural selection).
"You guys had your roots, and branched away from them"? I find that ironic, coming from a christian. Do you have any idea how many denominations you folks have? Emotion is a process of the mind, it's been studied and shown, there is no "soul" or "spirit" necessary for it. There are still two, no matter what makes you "tick". Just because you want to bullshit and romanticize simple, physical processes doesn't mean it's some mystical force.
That's because your ironic dumbass, keeps taking everything I say as literal interpretation.
Anyone would know that was another analogy good or bad. I meant that as
"Well at least you guys tried it for yourselves, before quitting your faith, and judging others without experiencing it."
No the mind has components, & neuron mechanisms in your brain that produces them, it's process you feel on the INSIDE, not OUTSIDE (Spiritual). I didn't say "mystical force" once, because it ain't magic, genius.
I'm starting to think you don't know what "ironic" means. Those neurons and components are what you feel on the "outside" as well as the "inside", no matter how you may define it otherwise. I have proof, and you can find plenty of studies regarding this topic if you just look, and you just have "feelings". Anecdotal evidence doesn't do much in the face of scientific evidence.
If you know what it means, stop misusing it. Furthermore, enough evidence establishes something as a fact, not simply an "opinion" just because you don't want it to be a fact. They have been proven by science, numerous times, in fact, even though you're afraid to admit that. If these things couldn't be proven by science, you're saying that all the study done in psychology and neurology is worthless, which it isn't. It's all just a testament to your unwillingness to be free from "faith" and "god
You have very valid points and I completely agree with you. We can only no so much. There is many things in the universe that we cannot comprehend. That is the reason beliefs exist. Because we simply cannot understand the unkown. It is there but we do not know what it is.
I think it means a lot. It is a very valid point you made. Your mind has to go somewhere because your mind. What makes you you is energy. The basis of matter. Energy is power in it's rawest form and is completely invincible. It can only be moved therefore in essence death is not the end but only the beginning. Way to think outside the box.
We simply do not know what is beyond death because it is a boundry that once you cross you cannot turn around and go back. If we can someday succeed in resurecting the dead via a combination of cryonics and nanotechnology we may be able to find out what lies beyond this boundry. Until then we can only guess. Hence the reasons why we follow are own beliefs.
@jmario232 since there is no reasonable lines that can be drawn, or proof that can lead us to determine which religion if any is correct, then why believe in something like christianity? you seem to be intelligent, so i'm sure you've heard of things like occum's razor? or hitchens, "what can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof"?
problem of relgion never really been each person having a private belief. it's that they think all of us should believe what they believe too.
@phead80 Well sadly, I live a life that undoubts less things, than doubting many things. I do try to find a balance, between what we understand and don't. Then again, I'm so happy I'm not 100% into all topics, especially secularism and religion. It's too heated and relentless for me.
@Shockheadd45 there may or may not be a purpose for us being here at all, i believe there isn't. but that doesn't mean we cannot GIVE our life a purpose. make the most of it. enjoy yourself. for all we can prove, it's all you're gonna get. don't waste a moment of it worrying about what some god may or may not think of you. there are thousands of gods, and if you choose one like christianity there is absolutely no consensus on how you should live your life, just be good and enjoy your time.
@phead80 I just chose God, because it seemed right, actually moral, and true. I don't need thousands of anything to make me feel good, spiritually. I prefer to have one thing for each thing I need, rather than copies. I feel, my life in some way has a purpose, I will find that damn purpose until I die. Yeah man, I live it how I should live it, only I believe God is like a guidance whenever I get outta line from my goals, and perspective.
@Shockheadd45 well i urge you to read the bible, the word of the god you hold to be moral and true, from cover to cover. you may be shocked right down to your frickin core at what it contains. i guarantee you and i are far more moral and compassionate than the god of the bible ever has been and ever will be.
@phead80 Dude I've read so much shit in there, all I can say in there, that not even God is perfect at what He does. First mistake was Adam and Eve, but then again, who doesn't fuck up? They say "We are made in His image" then does that not mean, we all do things he did? Act egotistical, bipolar, jealous, a jerk? It happens man. God is a lot more than what us Christians make Him out to be.
I actually think our imperfect human nature comes from God, *as crazy as that sounds to you*.
@Shockheadd45 he makes mistake after mistake, and does very little good compared to all the bad. and if you don't believe he's a perfect being as you say, and is possibly a lesser being than us morally, why waste your time WORSHIPPING him? based on all the evidence of his existence over all other dismissed gods? please, you seem way smarter than that friend.
@phead80 Well it's because I view spirits as a deep connection. Humanity was always a let down for me.
Now do you mean smarter as in "If you were an Atheist" or a "Christian"?
Because my own reasons for my own character, being who I am, are justified what I percieve to be trustworthy, regardless of my intelligence. I'm more lenient for God, rather than being some simple minded Christian, because I think there's more than what meets the eye for spirituality. It'd be too predictable then.
@Shockheadd45 but that's not what i'm asking. i'm asking why you worship the judeo christian god? what about that character from that story makes you want to devote your life and whatever else to them? what about christianity that makes it jump forth as the truth? it's a horrible religion. how do you feel about slavery? seemed awful right? bible says it's cool. good thing the rest of us thought enough of our fellow man to abolish slavery.
@phead80 For spiritual, moral reasons, and basic guidance, that's the only reason why. I don't care or think about anyone else's means to justify their ends. It's just a lifestyle choice man, well for me. It doesn't consume EVERYTHING I do.
I'd rather believe in a spirit, than trust most human beings. The only people I'd trust for humanity would be family and my best friends.
@Shockheadd45 morally, and guidance wise? the bible is a horrible tool for both of those. that's why i ask that you read it cover to cover. it's a horrible horrible book and the god from those books is not one to follow or hold up as an example of perfection. i know you say you think he has the traits that make us human, but i am saying he's worse than any human i've ever known of. and i'd take to following your moral example and that of dozens of people i run into every day over his.
@phead80 Well Science doesn't give morals or guidance it just enlightens your mind with complexities of "How the world works", through technical explanation, and non stop theories (which are endless). I read many books, man. I don't trust people's words (nowadays) because most people have deceived (doesn't surprise me) Look man, not everything in the Bible is bad, yeah some things are but NOT ALL. I mean what doesn't have faults?
You say that everything can't exist without something creating it, yet you believe that God existed without anything creating him. Now if the THEORY of the Big Bang is true then it would appear that there would have to be a catalyst to create something out of nothing, but the Big Bang Theory is just a theory and disproving it doesn't prove the Creationist theory. For all we know, the Universe could have always been, with no beginning or end just like how you conceive your God as being eternal.

God creation-nuts are hilarious. The big bang theory does not state that something came from nothing. All that matter was already there, compressed. Nothing in has ever been shown that something comes from nothing in science. The ONLY thing that claims something came from nothing is religion. How ironic!

Man, I just love talking about God, and about Jesus, thank you Jesus. Meaning of life and purpose are so key in life.
IwillhonorGod 1 year ago
@DemonicCannibalism .....regarding time, this is why God could answer a prayer, not being bound by time, that joshua prayed. When He prayed, for some extra time in the day, to fight a battle against some of his enemies. It was the battle where, Joshua, and another guy held up Moses Arms, while he sat on a stone.
Chuck missler has a great series on it that is called, mystery of the planet mars, I believe. Beyond space and time is good also.
IwillhonorGod 1 year ago
@DemonicCannibalism where you have missed it is in the creation of time. God made time, so for you to ask who made God, like there was a time when God did not exist, God always existed. I am a person that was made in time, so for me to talk about a time, when there was no time, is difficult. But before time, I don't even know if that is a right statement, but before time God was, as made time. This is why Jesus could say, before Abraham was I am.

And don't just say "he IS"
Hmm
HEYIPWNYOU 1 year ago
@HEYIPWNYOU @HEYIPWNYOU everything leads back to God. behind every door there is God. if God had a creator, then where did he come from? then where did he come from? and where did that creator come from? the bottom line is that science says everything must have a beginning, but if you think about it, it doesn't make sense. someone or something must be infinite—which is ultimately God.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1 Even supposing that your theory is true, what makes this original creator the Christian God? Why not Zeus or Thor or Allah, or Vishnu?
I find it laughable that religious folks always point to the first cause argument and say, "see the first cause must be God because where did everything come from?" Yet that same religious person will absolve this supposed God from the same argument when the atheist asks the first cause of God. Religious double standard for teh win!
Mahgwa 1 year ago
@Mahgwa Ah, but you're jumping to conclusions. Never did I "absolve". I'll never pardon myself for what I believe in. First off: do your homework. Zeus: was the son of Chronos and Rhea. Thor: son of Odin came from Asgard, which is like mount Olympus. Allah = god (Allah means "one god") come from the ancient moon god, and there's Muhammad attached. Vishnu: supreme over the other gods. What's the common denominator? There are several gods in these religions with parents. Christianity: ONE GOD.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@Mahgwa And my point in explaining the “Russian doll” effect with God is that at some point there has to be some kind of being of higher power and infinite time. The universe can’t just BE or happen because it wants to. Before everything there was nothing. What happened? Did the singularity explode from nonexistent space? Somewhere along the lines the only thing that can make sense is for there to be God.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 first off, don't try to clump me into a stereotypical mold--you don't know me so you don't have the right.my point was no matter how much we know or how much science there is achieved, there's always something we're missing in the succession.there will always be,what came next?because there must be an origin. if it keeps going back, the only explanation is God.one of Sumtruth's quotes ring true here"Small amounts of philosophy lead to atheism, but larger amounts bring us back to God"
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 can you not read? read my other comments before you ask me things I've already answered.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 reading is one thing, however, comprehending is another. much the same with the difference of hearing and listening. and it's infinite going back, not infinite going forward. everything has a point of origin and an end. of course we can see the end of everything due to the facts and processes of science. so, naturally, the problem is in the beginning, which we cannot use science to go back that far. there will always be something missing in succession, which makes your debate invalid
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 go back and do your homework. i'm not spoon feeding you. someone else has already asked me the exact same questions and i've already answered them. i'm not avoiding anything. the only question you asked that has not been answered: "primitive man" did not know more than we do, and this is why through everything i've ever written i have relied on modern science as reference and guidance. so, again, your argument is nonessential and invalid to my initial philosophy
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Thank you!
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 i never asked for your mock-pity.i have never insulted you.i have never once called you any names or have ever been alarmingly disrespectful.i am merely explaining my point of view, which,by the way,you have chosen to attack numerously.so it is you who has disrespected me,not to mention have been sadistically sarcastic.do not be the victim here--i have done nothing to you.you call me close-minded and command me to step out of a box that doesn't exist around me.you are the persecutor.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292 jumping to conclusions about someone and placing them in a category in which they don't belong is called stereotyping. and yes, you were playing the victim--you told me a string of insults and told me i was uncivilized. "look ill be the adult here"...as oppose to myself? oh no, that's not insulting at all. psh, and that wasn't a debate. that was you asking me over and over the same things i've already answered.mentioning faults? no. making personal attacks? yes.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@lemonsnickers1
1.) How did I even stereotype you?
2.) I asked you of the same questions only because you avoided them. [1/3 answered.]
3.) When you say to someone to "go back and do your homework," is kind of insulting.
4.) I'm the only one here acting mature enough to say sorry to something they didn't do. I said it twice and I won't say it again. If you want to be immature by not accepting it then that's your choice. [No personal attacks intended.]
Justino292 1 year ago
@Justino292

@HEYIPWNYOU the big bang theory states the point of singularity is matter to energy and energy to matter, which means the universe explode, and then implode on itself making it infinite. however, where did the energy and matter come from? Atoms? and where did they come from? a black hole? and where did THAT come from? the theorists themselves have said they don’t know, which is why it’s only a theory.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@HEYIPWNYOU but science is right, everything must have a beginning…which can only be explained by the existence of God.
lemonsnickers1 1 year ago
@PostITnoteGUY It depends on how you look at it. As a Christian, I believe God created us. Obviously, we're made with the capacity to think, be creative and learn. In the Bible, it's taught that though we're to have the hearts of children, we're also to grow wise and take care of the world he made. How better to do that than to go learn about the world? Science, whether it's biological, social, etc. is the method. And it's fun. The more we can find out the more we see how amazing God is!
mukeh111 1 year ago
I left this comment on so many you tube post and never got anyone to answere, and honestly i think i wont get yet another response but i have some hope maybe one day i will. What religeon is right there are so many in fact in my own town we have at least ten christian churches that all say they believe in god but have diffrent beliefs then the other churches, that is confusing enough since they all say they follow the Kings James bible..are there ten diffrent Gods then in my home town.
johndebbra 1 year ago
@johndebbra The studying and understanding of what it means to follow Jesus is primarily done individually as it's up to the individual to willingly decide to choose to say yes to Jesus. Going to church (fellowship) while very important, is merely complimentary in comparison.
Christians aren't meant to fight about which set of religious protocol is right and focus on what is important. The shared principle is that there is 1 God to whom we can reach by first accepting Jesus' gift of Salvation.
mukeh111 1 year ago
Any church that is really a Christian Church will definitely have the same core principles. Beyond that, fighting is not really necessary, cuz there should not be a fight for who has a better church as the goal is to fellowship together and grow as the body of Christ.
As for 'is Christianity the real deal', At this time, I would just ask you: By looking at it with pure logic, don't you think it's the one that makes the most sense? It's worth checking into. This choice literally means everything

Some of the most venomous, angry, hateful, and judgmental people that I have ever met are Christian, why is that?

sorry Sum Truth, but I am un convinced that creationism is fact. There is just no empirical evidence.

@RascalCoyote
No, the Bible is a book, Hawking is a person. So this would be correcter: "Given he choice between 'the 4000-year dead scruffy goat herders who wrote the retarded stuff in the bible like women being made from the ribs of men' and 'Steven Hawking', I choose, Hawking."
SSTTEEAALLTTHH 1 year ago
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH i stand corrected, well put.
RascalCoyote 1 year ago
@RascalCoyote
If and only if he can actually test his THEORIES with sound proof, then we can give him a shot.
mukeh111 1 year ago
@mukeh111 steven Hawkings work is based on educated theories, based off years of research. observations and the hubble telescope, I noticed that Hawkings and Carl Segan always used the words " is it Possibles, perhaps, and may have, and maybe, never saying that their educated theories are 100% the truth, they never say, we're right and we know it. some of their theories ARE being tested, which is one of the purposes of CERN..
RascalCoyote 1 year ago
@RascalCoyote I admit it. I haven't fully read Hawkings' latest book. But I understand his main point and some details. I think that it's a solid theory, to put it simply, how God is not necessary since because we have such a thing as gravity, we can exist without there being a God. I accept the theory, but I reject it's conclusions simply because I believe Creation gives sound logical meaning and purpose to the existence life and because I have personally found my Savior.
mukeh111 1 year ago
@RascalCoyote Even if Hawkins is 100% right, the bigger picture shows that it means nothing to us. With God, it means everything. It would be a great breakthrough for Science. It would have been proven that God wouldn't be necessary for our existence. The thing is, it still doesn't disprove God. That's the thing about science, it's fully compatible with the existence of God no matter what the interpretation.
Science is awesome. It is a wonderful complement to Christianity.
mukeh111 1 year ago
@RascalCoyote I am one Christian who totally respects Science, and believe me, there are plenty of Christians like me. I totally respect the brilliant physicist, Steven Hawkings. I just respect and love God and what Jesus did for our sakes much much more.
I resent what SSTTEEAALLTTHH said about the Bible because I don't see it that way. If only he/she can explain exactly what's 'retarded' about the Bible, we could have a more constructive discussion.
mukeh111 1 year ago
@mukeh111 I'll be honest here, every bit of proof Hawkings HAS is flat out rejected by the christian community, in fact they refuse to even READ his latest book before rejecting it, they just rejected his work by the title and intro alone, they reject him and his work based purely on the fact, that he is for the most part, an atheist.
RascalCoyote 1 year ago
@mukeh111 I don't what it is you Christians want, what proof your looking for, because every new milestone, every new piece of evidence, every fossil dug up, every new piece of the puzzle Hawkings finds, is flat out rejected with out even a single glance. You Christians even go so far as to call all the Fossils proving evolution fakes with out being able to prove it. How can we or hawkings prove anything to a community that refuses to except anything and every thing he puts out?
RascalCoyote 1 year ago

@RascalCoyote continued
And that thing is an important truth we need to find out.
mukeh111 1 year ago
@mukeh111 This sort of what I believe, we are part of something greater then us, but I don't believe it's this Christian god, or this jesus, I believe in the after life, and it is there we find out what this greater reality is, what the real truth is.

I SAY GROWTH SPERT!!!!!!! thank you that is all
o0ZporK0o 1 year ago
wait a minute... do you believe in this "god"? why do you religious types always say that there had to be something in the begining... why cant it just be that the universe always was, or why does it always have to be god that was the creator why not some other random shit. and so then youll say that the universe is always growing and expanding therfore it once was not here...

Yeah the problem with people today is they simply believe in something and think it is true. They should only share their beliefs if there is evidence to support it. Anyway I have found evidence that helps support my theory so it is really is not complete and total nonsense. To me at least. We all have different opinions and that my friend is what makes us human

who's EVER said that something came from nothing? nothing about the big bang remotely suggests that. big bang is the expansion of compacted matter rapidly.
we may never know what started everything, where time started, and how. inserting some god as man has done thousands of times over our existence BEFORE christianity even existed. and in the almost certainly impossible reality that everything was created by a god, what in the universe about yours would suggest that IT is the ONE.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 And thanks for at least hearing me out man, also I heard a phrase one time "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" There's so much more things to discover, that I think it's fair to say, NO ONE REALLY KNOWS ABOUT THE PAST, of how everything happened, unless there was some time machine that lets us go back, and find it, it's still kind of impossible. I live in the now, and worry about my beliefs later.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 well that's the problem with religions shock, they claim they DO KNOW. and not only do they know how things came to be, they also claim to know how things end. to me and anyone with any kind of scientific understanding and a desire to learn, they've already been wrong about where we came from, so why the hell would we believe them about where we're going?
phead80 1 year ago

man, the whole point of being an atheist is not denying any sort of higher power, its the denying of YOUR god
you think "oh i couldnt exist by myself therefore THE GOD OF THE BIBLE is true"
you just link the god of the bible to creating the universe with no reason
even tho i don't believe in any god, i can still listen to anyone's rant that the universe was created by a god without getting pissed off, but when i hear someone use that to prove the god of the bible is true, thats annoying
ManMarriage 1 year ago
Would it be unrealistic to ask the two of you to cooperate peacefully for the greater good?
philipbabb 1 year ago
2) Athiests try to convert people to spread and science and progress. Religion stands in the way of Science because it represents change, and always contradicts the bible. Why do we push the agenda? If you were in a third world country with huge diseases that they claimed were due to being in the sun(everyone with the disease had been in the sun) would you not try to explain soap and hygiene rather than sit back and watch them spend their lives hiding from the sun(and continuing to get sick)
phidoux1 1 year ago
1) Why is it so hard to understand that the universe came from nothing? What did god come from? If you say that god is time, then why is it not reasonable to say that time is simply a property of the universe its self, ie its fourth dimension. The big bang created both time and space, or if you want to call it space/time then that is fine. There was nothing before. If you can't handle that why is it so easy to say that god has always been around? God would be an effect also.

@NexIntraInfernus erm, nope. the AA is a fucking asshole. Pure and simple.
HitMeWithIt 1 year ago
The reason why many people choose not to believe in God is because of people out there saying "YOU MUST BELIEVE IN GOD NOW!!!! OR SUFFER HELL!!!"
Many people of the faith give the faith a bad name, and thus many choose not to follow it because these people of the faith put up a wall for others.
The people of the faith say "THERE IS EVIDENCE IN THE BIBLE! ALL TRUE!"
And we see evidence that counters it. The thing about faith is that it is all faith, no need for evidence.

If God made all of the cosmos just for us, with us in mind, it's a great bloody waste of space.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
So you're just saying if God made the universe (cosmos) is bullshit, right?
And considering Earth is a part of it, that too?
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
I'm saying that there's more than the Earth, and it needs to be taken into account. "Bullshit" isn't the word I'd use, but if we're the only life out there and it was designed just for us, what's the rest of it for?
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
Exploration, maybe, I mean, dude we are OUT THERE, for crying out loud. What else would it be used for?
Extra space?
And I'd like to see so called "alternate dimensions" in Space, someday by via satellite.
Uh no, I give you respect, because now I can see where you are coming from, understand?
And what do you mean it was "Never meant to be taken seriously."?
What was that some kind if dumb, rehashed joke, because that that wasn't funny, man.
It sounded very direct to me, you sounded serious.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
The bible you so believe in mentions none of these things. It mentions god, that he makes the universe and the world and then us. That's it, nothing else. Second, why bother making it something to explore and look at? Why even bother making a planet? Just have a big, flat, dimensional plane on which everything happens. It's a lot more efficient. No need for a sun or orbits or gravity to explain any of God's creation.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
It mentions much more than those simple foundations.
But it's so damn confusing and symbolic, that I bet not even you guys could figure some of those "storytelling" myths out.
Have you heard of the infamous Revelations chapter?
That section twisted, I don't get any of it, it's like another language.
Maybe to explore and find more life (if it is out there) and go deeper with nature with the universe.
But this is all in LIFE too.
What about after death?
I mean only our bodies rot in the soil.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
Thought is based on electrical impulses in the brain, involving neurons and all of those sorts of things. Once the brain dies, the rest of the body shuts down, and your consciousness is simply gone. There's no after-experience, no personal reward for goodness, nothing. That's it. I will state again that if you don't start actually making valid points that aren't painfully easy to slap down, I'm going to end this argument. I can talk to someone with something of the slightest merit to say.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
Damn you reply fast, anyways.
I know that, but aside from rotting what about the 4 states of human.
Mind, Body, Soul, and Spirit?
We only discussed mind and body so far, not the other 2 aspects.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
There are only two. Mind and body. The remainder, as previously stated, are in the mind.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
No there has to be four.
How can there be 2?
What drives us naturally?
Can that even be explained in Layman's terms?
What the hell gave us life?
How can you say what we feel sometimes is greater is false, yet you haven't experienced it yourself?
We are on opposite sides, but I'll admit I have ventured into a thought of doubting God, before, but I have recovered from that. (It's actually too personal for me to admit, because it was hard for me to go through, and think about).
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
There doesn't "have" to be four. Our mind "drives us naturally", there are processes other than the forefront of your thoughts. Biological processes gave us life. And I have experienced this feeling you refer to. When I was younger, I did, but I grew out of it. I became rational. It seems some of us haven't grown out of that stage yet, sadly, where we cling to feelings as truth.
Nothing you claim to be divine can't be explained some other way.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
No, no I was NOT talking about our mind.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
As opposed to your logic to persuade me "there has to be four"? No, not all atheists used to be christian or religious. It's impossible to judge all atheists based on one, simply because atheism means one thing and one thing only; that they do not believe in a god. Nothing else. Any other belief can be way out there, as far as anyone else is concerned. Some people were probably never religious. Why does there have to be this mystical "energy" that sustains our "life force" anyway?
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
Well, I said "MAJORITY" but it still shows at least you guys had your roots, and branched away from them (At least you guys did experienced before going to the con side of religion). Well emotion has do with your spirit, how you feel on the inside, what makes you "tick". That's 3. Your soul is your inner moral compass, like do you think by nature, it decides with our mind whether, we are either good or evil, or both? (Like natural selection).
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
"You guys had your roots, and branched away from them"? I find that ironic, coming from a christian. Do you have any idea how many denominations you folks have? Emotion is a process of the mind, it's been studied and shown, there is no "soul" or "spirit" necessary for it. There are still two, no matter what makes you "tick". Just because you want to bullshit and romanticize simple, physical processes doesn't mean it's some mystical force.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
That's because your ironic dumbass, keeps taking everything I say as literal interpretation.
Anyone would know that was another analogy good or bad. I meant that as
"Well at least you guys tried it for yourselves, before quitting your faith, and judging others without experiencing it."
No the mind has components, & neuron mechanisms in your brain that produces them, it's process you feel on the INSIDE, not OUTSIDE (Spiritual). I didn't say "mystical force" once, because it ain't magic, genius.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
I'm starting to think you don't know what "ironic" means. Those neurons and components are what you feel on the "outside" as well as the "inside", no matter how you may define it otherwise. I have proof, and you can find plenty of studies regarding this topic if you just look, and you just have "feelings". Anecdotal evidence doesn't do much in the face of scientific evidence.
mrbobmanbob 2 years ago
Must I describe what ever damn word I'm saying, means?
(Sighs) Yeah, I do know what irony and "ironic" means, if fact I face it everyday, in everything, even in music.
That's not the point, though evidence is evidence, and either type if crucial for science.
It's still proof, your "facts" are your "opinions", all things can't be proven by science.
Anyways, I already said you won, I might as well, I have to work on a Economics study guide. I'm gonna leave room for others to comment to Sumtruth.
Shockheadd45 2 years ago
If you know what it means, stop misusing it. Furthermore, enough evidence establishes something as a fact, not simply an "opinion" just because you don't want it to be a fact. They have been proven by science, numerous times, in fact, even though you're afraid to admit that. If these things couldn't be proven by science, you're saying that all the study done in psychology and neurology is worthless, which it isn't. It's all just a testament to your unwillingness to be free from "faith" and "god

@Shockheadd45
You have very valid points and I completely agree with you. We can only no so much. There is many things in the universe that we cannot comprehend. That is the reason beliefs exist. Because we simply cannot understand the unkown. It is there but we do not know what it is.
jmario232 1 year ago
@jmario232 Thanks, but I said it for myself too, just a opinion or interpretation of mine, nothing really that means much.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45
I think it means a lot. It is a very valid point you made. Your mind has to go somewhere because your mind. What makes you you is energy. The basis of matter. Energy is power in it's rawest form and is completely invincible. It can only be moved therefore in essence death is not the end but only the beginning. Way to think outside the box.
jmario232 1 year ago
@jmario232 Thank you a lot. I view life as a transcendental movement. There's more to life than a boring existence.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 we'd like to think there is. sadly there is no proof that there's anything but what there is.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80
We simply do not know what is beyond death because it is a boundry that once you cross you cannot turn around and go back. If we can someday succeed in resurecting the dead via a combination of cryonics and nanotechnology we may be able to find out what lies beyond this boundry. Until then we can only guess. Hence the reasons why we follow are own beliefs.
jmario232 1 year ago
@jmario232 since there is no reasonable lines that can be drawn, or proof that can lead us to determine which religion if any is correct, then why believe in something like christianity? you seem to be intelligent, so i'm sure you've heard of things like occum's razor? or hitchens, "what can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof"?
problem of relgion never really been each person having a private belief. it's that they think all of us should believe what they believe too.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 Well sadly, I live a life that undoubts less things, than doubting many things. I do try to find a balance, between what we understand and don't. Then again, I'm so happy I'm not 100% into all topics, especially secularism and religion. It's too heated and relentless for me.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 there may or may not be a purpose for us being here at all, i believe there isn't. but that doesn't mean we cannot GIVE our life a purpose. make the most of it. enjoy yourself. for all we can prove, it's all you're gonna get. don't waste a moment of it worrying about what some god may or may not think of you. there are thousands of gods, and if you choose one like christianity there is absolutely no consensus on how you should live your life, just be good and enjoy your time.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 I just chose God, because it seemed right, actually moral, and true. I don't need thousands of anything to make me feel good, spiritually. I prefer to have one thing for each thing I need, rather than copies. I feel, my life in some way has a purpose, I will find that damn purpose until I die. Yeah man, I live it how I should live it, only I believe God is like a guidance whenever I get outta line from my goals, and perspective.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 well i urge you to read the bible, the word of the god you hold to be moral and true, from cover to cover. you may be shocked right down to your frickin core at what it contains. i guarantee you and i are far more moral and compassionate than the god of the bible ever has been and ever will be.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 Dude I've read so much shit in there, all I can say in there, that not even God is perfect at what He does. First mistake was Adam and Eve, but then again, who doesn't fuck up? They say "We are made in His image" then does that not mean, we all do things he did? Act egotistical, bipolar, jealous, a jerk? It happens man. God is a lot more than what us Christians make Him out to be.
I actually think our imperfect human nature comes from God, *as crazy as that sounds to you*.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 he makes mistake after mistake, and does very little good compared to all the bad. and if you don't believe he's a perfect being as you say, and is possibly a lesser being than us morally, why waste your time WORSHIPPING him? based on all the evidence of his existence over all other dismissed gods? please, you seem way smarter than that friend.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 Well it's because I view spirits as a deep connection. Humanity was always a let down for me.
Now do you mean smarter as in "If you were an Atheist" or a "Christian"?
Because my own reasons for my own character, being who I am, are justified what I percieve to be trustworthy, regardless of my intelligence. I'm more lenient for God, rather than being some simple minded Christian, because I think there's more than what meets the eye for spirituality. It'd be too predictable then.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 but that's not what i'm asking. i'm asking why you worship the judeo christian god? what about that character from that story makes you want to devote your life and whatever else to them? what about christianity that makes it jump forth as the truth? it's a horrible religion. how do you feel about slavery? seemed awful right? bible says it's cool. good thing the rest of us thought enough of our fellow man to abolish slavery.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 For spiritual, moral reasons, and basic guidance, that's the only reason why. I don't care or think about anyone else's means to justify their ends. It's just a lifestyle choice man, well for me. It doesn't consume EVERYTHING I do.
I'd rather believe in a spirit, than trust most human beings. The only people I'd trust for humanity would be family and my best friends.
Shockheadd45 1 year ago
@Shockheadd45 morally, and guidance wise? the bible is a horrible tool for both of those. that's why i ask that you read it cover to cover. it's a horrible horrible book and the god from those books is not one to follow or hold up as an example of perfection. i know you say you think he has the traits that make us human, but i am saying he's worse than any human i've ever known of. and i'd take to following your moral example and that of dozens of people i run into every day over his.
phead80 1 year ago
@phead80 Well Science doesn't give morals or guidance it just enlightens your mind with complexities of "How the world works", through technical explanation, and non stop theories (which are endless). I read many books, man. I don't trust people's words (nowadays) because most people have deceived (doesn't surprise me) Look man, not everything in the Bible is bad, yeah some things are but NOT ALL. I mean what doesn't have faults?
