  • Good info, thanks for posting.

  • Is the tree have fruit?

  • All the people of Tamil nadu Have Moringa tree in their house .It easy to maintain it. We have moringa in daily diet of TAMIL food Culture. Not only Muringa there are lot of plants available in Tamil nadu which are used as medicines and proven to be higly effective. This way of treating disease with plants and naturally available things is called SIDDHA.This is practiced by over 10000 years by Tamil people ( Oldest language in the world) ..

Check wikipedia for more info on Siddha.

  • This tree is called Murungai in Tamil. Most probably, it is the root word. It might have evolved from Tamil root "Muri" which means breakable, as its stems are easily breakable. Otherwise, it would have originated from Tamil root called "Muru" meaning young or healthy, probably meaning that it keeps young and healthy, the people who eat it.

It enhances the sex life of an individual who eats it. It even looks like 'erected penis', which is a wonder.

    It is a tropical plant.

  • Malunggay ( Moringa) Chips is now available, a healthy alternative for commercial junk food. contact Bing of Mobile Number 09228495713

  • Don't know why people call Moringa a tropical tree .... moringas found in indian himalayas and here in Punjab in pakistan are cold hardy to -2 C and some claim that they can withstand a light snow and hardy to -3 .I can confirm that moringas can stand -1.1 C but for a night or two.

  • Great information. Thanks for sharing.

  • our family have this muringai all the time for diner lunch and make breakfast too.. its true my grandma use to tell us so many good things about this muringai.

  • I live in uk as a young girl in malaysia, i have always had a moringa plant on our yard and my mum always cooked the leaves. the fruit, and also the flower as part of our daily meal. The dishes were always with fresh coconut either stir fried , curry or made in a leafy soup. While on holidays in malaysia this summer , my mum made some of the dishes from moringa my children enjoyed the dishes>

I am unable to find the leaves in uk.

  • why people sell this tree, nature give his goods for free, the people who live there get it for free, but "We" need to pay for it if you want moringa, now you get it? If someone discover somthing good and free, people make it a business, fk you all.

  • @agentstrike People sell the tree because they put in the work of growing it. Growing any crop is work, and workers need to be paid. The only food you can really eat for free is what you grow in your own garden, everything else has to be grown by someone who has their own bills to pay.

  • @agentstrike I'd rather buy my Moringa than try to grow it myself :) I buy it in a convenient package that I enjoy taking and easily mix into some water. Definitely worth the cost compared to growing it and making it consumable myself. That's how the economy works: supply and demand!

  • Dear Agentstrike,

We never pay any $ for "this tree" which as u said "nature gives his goods for free".

We only pay the service fee to get "this tree". If we want to get it for free, we can plant our own Moringa tree and get free. But the time you spend to plant it and harvest it also cost $, so there is no free lunch on this planet.

In fact, every thing from God is FREE, but we only pay the service fee to secure it.

  • If used the vegetative means, you can easily keep remained the characteristics of the Mother Tree (if it is of preferable attributes) but, if used the seeds (seed are heterogeneous), it is necessary to wait for a longer period of time to receive the result and, we might get some plants having poor qualities.

    Bimal from Sri Lanka.

  • I am from Sri Lanka and, we have some Moringa trees planted in our garden. We eat the fruits and the leaves of this miracle tree as a habit from our child hood days and, this is a normal practice of our people. The Moringa can easily be propagated by using the sticks (or the vegetative parts)

    Bimal from Sri Lanka.

  • How many frost nights the Moringa tree can withstand?

Any variety of trees that you can grow in the cold climate?

  • @wisikahn Moringa can't stand cold, I have grown it for 2 years, when hit by cold it dies down to the roots, and comes back from the roots the next year, at least here in Florida.
