@FortifierPS3 Well, not actually: This is the anime version, which looks longer because of the Dramatic Timewarp Japan uses. In real time it's as fast as the average. Besides, this a double transformation.

0:00 - 0:28 : Ultra Magnus, Transform!

0:28 - 1:42 : Ultra Magnus, Super Mode!

So, it might take just a 4 secs for the usual transform and up to 10 for a super mode. And the last one might be done while airborne. Just guessing.

you're right starraptor, and i feel old. I got G1 Magnus for Christmas when i was 8. same original G1 Prime truck/robot, but all white. the car-carrier trailer transformed into the bulk of Ultra Magnus' body (you just plug the white prime into the back and stick a big blue head on him). still love this one but had almost no articulation/poseability at all. Worth it just for a G1 white Prime with rubber tires.

True, in the tv show (at least to my knowledge) Ultra Magnus was never without his armor, but if you look up reviews of the G1 Ultra Magnus toy, you'll find what I said to be true.

There were actually multiple different versions of transformers, including Japanese versions, and several comic book lines\graphics novels and an entire Story arc that was created for the English market to fill the gaps in production between the different seasons of the American comic. So the Transformers is quite a lot broader than you might otherwise think.

He's MEANT to be a new version of Ultra Magnus for everyone who looks at Classics Ultra Magnus and gets pissed that he's just Optimus in white. But he's not licensed, he's just a fan design. It's why he's called "City Commander", and not "Ultra Magnus" - City Commander was Magnus's rank, so it lets him be identifiable as Ultra Magnus without getting sued.

It's important for American fans to check the Japanese and English versions before making pronouncements. Transformers went on for about 5 more seasons in Japan after it ended in America, and there was an entire original series comic run in England that many US fans have never read.

The FansProject City Commander is pretty cool. Last time I looked it retailed at about $100 from Japan.

I appreciate trying to get people to know history, but City Commander is just the name of Ultra Magnus's rank, given to this upgrade kit so the makers don't get sued. What I'm trying to get across is that an awful lot of people on this site think that there were only 4 seasons to Transformers, and a couple of spin offs such as Beast Wars and Beast Machines. When in fact Transformers ran for the best part of a decade after the last Original Series episode was made in the US. The same with Comics. Many have theorized that when they flashback to Orion Pax(Optimus Prime in his early years) in one episode that his friend named Dion who is gunned down is in fact Ultra Magnus. If this is true, he would have been repaired by Alpha Trion like Optimus was so it wouldn't be outrageous to assume that they might have been given the same basic body, thus explaining why he is a white optimus prime.
