1=The bypass was installed in early testing to keep the EGT below 1200 deg. It has been removed. 2=It runs on Propane, we were going to change over to jet-A but never did. 3=The gear box and power turbine is part of a F-104 cartridge starter. 4=It's a home made Gas Turbine Engine not a pulse jet.

ye i know technically it is a jet engine but its not the "normal" kind that u usually think off that use the actual jet to propel themselves instead of just turning most of that jet in to mechanical force by a shaft connected to the turbine (or as in this case a turbo stuck on the back of a pulse jet). The most common fuels for jet planes are Jet A and Jet A-1 which has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 carbon.

Actually the percentage thrust from todays 'jet engines' are 5% from the nozzle and 95% from the bypass created either by turbo fans, turbo props, propfans, etc. pure turbine jet engines died when the boeing 707 went out of business cuz they are not fuel efficient. I know what Jet-A is, i fly turbo props for a living, but the flashpoint and pressure requirement for Jet-A to ignite are way beyond what the video's jet engine is undoubtedly capable of. (not trying to start a flame war here :) )

Actually, according to one of their other vids posted here, they start it with regular gasoline, and then fuel it with Jet-1 or Kerosene after it spools up.

Also, there is no pulse jet here. It's a turbine engine.

Hello. not sure what your trying to say (cant just put one into the other) As for ignition on the left side of the engine you will see a spark plug, It is only use for start up then turned off. This is a gas turbine engine, it does not need ignition after start up.
