bought rusted like two days ago. They definitely do crease even with a primer. Rusted works SOOOOOO NICE as a highlight especially if you have a darker complexion.
I have Gilded Ash from the first collection. I got it at a MAC outlet store (so sad that I moved away because they're hard to find!), so I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. To this day, I don't know how to use it! It's just sitting in my makeup drawer. It's a beautiful color. Too bad I have no idea how to apply it. So sad.
oh no. i purchased the venetian tarnish today. that was the only one i liked. the rest seemed wack. i am going to try it out no maybe i will just return it without trying it.
I bought cyber in 2007 and time to time I will use it over my paint pot and I love it I get so many compliments. I say you should try it and decide for youself.
bummer all the color look really nice wish they did this in a paint pot form instead. Thanks Mac another fail ...Will have to pass on this collection!
I tried it today, and it didn't look very good and tended to flake off - one of the problems being these are a pain to apply with any sort of brush, because it's such a stiff texture, but if you use your fingers, you can't get a very precise or light-handed application.
Silly MAC why are they making the same mistakes TWICE. If you buy these you might aswel be flushing your hard earned cash down the toilet. I can't believe they have the nerve to sell such a terrible products yet again. Wheres the logic??? Perhaps they thought if they waited long enough people would forget how crap they are
I think MAC has seen its time in the spotlight. People need to realize how many other phenomenal brands are available, with superior quality and sometimes even lower prices. If more people would stop buying MAC just because of their name, they would be forced to up their quality & reduce their prices to be available to EVERYONE!
I'm 36, but I just started wearing conventional make-up brands 3 years ago (I used natural brands prior to that, except for a few years as a teenager, when I wore foundation & eye liner), & I'm pretty confused as to why MAC has such a following! I've tried almost everything of theirs over the past few years, & many, manyy eye shadows, and I've only found a handful of products that I thought performed really well.
@SnapwingOnTheTube because people buy so many limited edition things people forget about their permanent line. yeah, all the new collections are crap but the things that are permanent are still good.
I love temptalia and thanks for reviewing these but imho mac is the most overrated cosmetics brand. Their brushes are good and painterly pp is hands down my fave es base, but everything else sucks
What the hell is the point of a cream eyeshadow that isn't going to last? Why would Mac admit that? If nobody liked them because of that, why wouldn't they change them!?
@kadhine007 I tested it with a primer + powder eyeshadow on top and it was better but not good. I don't think the PLW shadow would do much, if anything, extra to the wear since it's not adhering to your skin but product underneath
Well thanks for the review & swatches... The colors are really pretty but Iam deffo not interested in buying them as they don't seem to be that good! Always useful to watch your videos ;)
I actually sent MAC an email about the piss poor collections they have put out lately. I was highly disappointed with the so called Miss Piggy collection... A chalky pink shadow and some lashes....really MAC?! The only the items I buy from MAC is lipsticks and Studio Finish concealer that I have been using for years. I use to buy their eye shadows, blushes, and foundation but I've discovered other brands that are of much better quality and a foundation that doesn't break me out.
Whats going on with MAC? They're not even trying to make better products yet the prices keep going up. So disappointing. I'm passing on these just like I've passed on most of the MAC collections of this year.
Wow. What the hell is wrong with MAC? They've become a pathetic brand in my mind compared to Clinique, YSL, and Guerlain. There is so much better. MAC has become an expensive drug store brand.
@Tokgabi I agree 100% I only re purchase items from THE PERMANET COLLECTION. There's brands that make Mac look like peions. Why would they intentionally sale an expensive product that isn't effective & long wearing?
@Roselover79 You are reading the wrong post... Metal-x came out in 2007 originally, and in that launch, there were glitter eyeliners. Please make sure you're reading the right post!
MAC needs to get with the times! There are so many long wear and good quality cream shadows in the market... even drugstore brands. You would think MAC would want to re-formulate and come up with something worth buying. It's a pass for me.... yet again with the latest MAC collections. Very disappointing!
They look so pretty but I think I might pass on these. There are so many other pretty eyeshadows I can buy. I should have listened to you about the Miss Piggy pink because it takes forever to try to get it to show up on my eyelids, even with primer.
Why do they keep putting out Poor products/collections....so dishonest...which is why I don't buy MAC anymore! There are much better companies out there that do not compromise its standards!! Namely Nars, Urban Decay, Illamasqua etc.
gosh, I know I should have waited for your review. I bought one of them (the carbon one). I think I'm planning on wearing it on my lower lashline for an edgy/smudgy look :)
Hi, Temptalia! I have a question. I have very oily eyelids and my eyeshadow never seems to stay on, even with eye primer. For example, I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the MAC Paint Pots, but they are not really working for me. Do you have any suggestions for new eye primers maybe? Thanks!
@egeggrtgrge Have you tried using both layered on top? I have heard from some readers that they have to use both and then they have good luck :) UDPP original creases a little bit on me after 8 hours or so, though MAC PPs are fine. I love NARS Smudgeproof myself!
@egeggrtgrge I have oily lids and the only primer that works for me is Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Though I haven't personally tried it, I have heard good things about NARS' Smudgeproof, too.
@egeggrtgrge You might want to switch primers. I have used both UDPP and Two-Faced Shadow Insurance and I also have oily eyelids. With UDPP I feel the texture is a bit oily itself which only makes the oilyness worse. The Shadow Insurance has a more matte texture which has really helped a lot. Another similar primer to the Shadow Insurance is the UDPP in Eden I believe. Just look for a primer with a matte texture to it. Hope this helps!
@egeggrtgrge I'm no Christine, but I have the same problem as you. UDPP didn't work for me, but I've had better luck with Too Faced Shadow Insurance (though it *does* still crease if you wear it long enough). When I layer a primer with a paint pot, I get better results, though not as good as I'd like. Hope that helps!
@egeggrtgrge i'm not temptalia or anything but have you tried to use a primer then set it with face powder then use eye shadows that way the face powder will kinda suck up the oils? just a thought :)
I will never by creme eye shadows again! it doesn't matter if its high end or not no matter what you do with a creme eye shadow-primer, base, ect.. it will just end up and crease! I tried using it as a base before but in the end it just smears right off, even if you just use the tiniest bit. =/
Anyway wow, mac didn't try to make it better for their consumers? mmm thats kind of like a F-k you we dont care spit in the face reply. I mean i still like them but...ouch.
Mac's response is stupid. I don't get it why make a product that doesn't last long at all??? I wish Mac would start putting out more quality products rather than quanity. Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it.
@txbrunettegirl I agree - I think you need SOME wear. OK, maybe it won't last 8 hours by itself - you need to use a primer, or you need to use eyeshadow on top, but how about lasting a couple of hours? Or how about lasting better on lips/cheeks where you don't have creasing concerns? I feel like there's a lack of functionality with this product!
i personally think the formula is not a problem. They do not crease on me personally but i use very little product. Also makeupbytiffanyd had a vid on how to use them a while back and found that to be the best method
@temptalia =( her method that works for me is to use a liquidlast liner as the base/primer for them. Funny how everyone has different reactions to makeup! Thanks for the review as always.
They look like crap and they're $20 for 0.08 oz. So not worth it. I can find drugstore brands for fraction of the price that look 100% better. Disappointing for sure.
@Soorplooms mac is also used my makeup artists and for them long-wearing products don't matter that much if they have a photoshoot or something editorial, they can use this kind of products! so it might be crap for "regular" users but for professionals they're probably great! :)
@kukishop you make a very valid point :-) I was just sad because they look so pretty but I don't want a short wear product. I guess I should thank MAC for taking it easy on my wallet, lol. The next couple of collections look great, I think I'll splurge on those.
@kukishop MAC should market to the right people :) they've come out with PRO only product launches before, so if it really doesn't have a purpose beyond editorial/photoshoot - why make it a big after-holiday collection? The reason they launch the 26th is to capture the foot traffic + gift cards of the holidays, so I wish they'd do more usable collections. I just see people buying & being disappointed :(
why repromote something that wasn't good or popular the first time, and even more, without changing?
