To me, this was Teresa Teng's greatest performance. Obviously racked with pain, aged by the heavy steroids (prednisone, and more) used to treat her severe asthmatic condition, embarressed by her appearance, weight gain from the medications, struggling with breath control, she still sang like an angel. I'm a 61 y/o caucasion Texas cowboy, who never heard of Teresa Teng until just a month ago. Since then, I've read everything I can find, viewed every video. She was the greatest. I love her dearly.

She epitomized love, reaching out to others, sensitivity, compassion, sincere heart felt care for others. Her matchless angelic voice expressed her true character. Angels do seem to leave too soon. @Lpmgato1 Yes, TT was an amazing woman, an incredible voice. I discovered her a couple of years ago and as a senior citizen I missed out years of her singing but making up for it daily. Check out her Japanese songs, esp. on the masami43, masami43a and fireflyjp channels as well as others. The masami channels have English translations. I know very little Japanese and no Chinese but I'm hooked on her singing, there is nothing like her among the western singers. TT's English songs are A++.

I never knew of Teresa Teng until my wife, who is from Mainland China, introduced me to Teresa's music. She has a voice that is unique and she is now my favorite singer. As I watched through many videos of Teresa, both older and recent I noticed she is having difficultly breathing. I did not know of her asthma, until I asked my wife why she is gasping for air. Rest in Peace Teresa, and when I go to heaven, I know I will hear you voice again. Your are a gift to the Chinese People.
@5bagpiper This is a very difficuit song to sing well. As she had a fairly severe asthma that inevitablely she needed to take prednisone to make her breathing easier. She she one of the greatest performing artist many of us have ever known!
@siuwahchan I notice her smiles during the pauses in the song as she bows her head. I believe she enjoyed the applause with great joy. With this in mind, it is a joy to see her enjoy the stage where she belonged for so many years. She passed on and now she is a legend in her own right. Rest in Peace Teresa.

Asthma is allergy issues, you have to find out what raise up your asthma, in my case I shifted to higher apartment with my wife and adopted aromatheraphy treatment.
The truth is, Medicine is drug and drug is poison, as long as you start taking it, surely one day your body start to accept drug and fails to function it supposed to be.
Watching her rapid aging, vocally weaker slight panting and trembling of her voice is very very sad indeed as her illness has taken a toll on her overall health.
Nevertheless, am extremely proud of her for providing such a great performance as she sang live where she could just easily mimic. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
It is indeed a blessing to those who enjoyed her music am sure will be continue to be enjoyed by many many more generations to come.

@teresabravo1 Teresa was from Taiwan not from China, she was band from China for many years but they later seen the errors of their ways and gave her the Honor she rightfully deserved. Such beautiful voice such a gift to all of us. A true angel in its own right.
Wow, yes, I'm sad seeing this as her voice is weaker and she struggled at the end on that last note. Perhaps her asthma was somehow worsening as she got older? What bothers me more is seeing her so old looking. Geez, she looks like she is 55 or 60 yet she was I think 41 here. I feel she was really ill but hid it from the public. Pls don't promote Tan Jing here. I hv seen her video once. Perhaps she has great vocal but there are lots of incredible trained voices like her in PRC. However, we love TT & continue to be because of her natural, warm, soothing, no. 1 tender & yet sweet, impeccable, colorful, haunting, mesmerising, irresistible vocal & personality. She is famous worldwide because of her own talent, not because she got a better chance than others. I don't understand her language, somehow I'm touched listening to her songs and watched her in the concerted posted here.
I guess it is all relative and relative to the way she normally looks she does not look so good here. If I had never had laid my eyes on her before she would look just fine. Anyway it is was her voice that was her forte not her looks. Did you know that she was banned in mainland China as too "bourgeois" for several years in the early 1980s? . Her record label was Japanese Polydor for a good while and she won 6 awards in Japan so perhaps that is why she loved Japan also.

I am a diehard TT fan but I must confess that the dress TT wore has bothered me. No, I do not hate Japanese people but their soldiers murdered and raped so many Chinese lives. She epitomized love, reaching out to others, sensitivity, compassion, sincere heart felt care for others. Her matchless angelic voice expressed her true character. Angels do seem to leave too soon. Teresa's heaven sent message continues for time and eternity. I love her and everything she represents.

@Lpmgato1 Yes, TT was an amazing woman, an incredible voice. I discovered her a couple of years ago and as a senior citizen I missed out years of her singing but making up for it daily. Check out her Japanese songs, esp. on the masami43, masami43a and fireflyjp channels as well as others. The masami channels have English translations. I know very little Japanese and no Chinese but I'm hooked on her singing, there is nothing like her among the western singers. TT's English songs are A++.

I never knew of Teresa Teng until my wife, who is from Mainland China, introduced me to Teresa's music. She has a voice that is unique and she is now my favorite singer. As I watched through many videos of Teresa, both older and recent I noticed she is having difficultly breathing. I did not know of her asthma, until I asked my wife why she is gasping for air. Rest in Peace Teresa, and when I go to heaven, I know I will hear you voice again. Your are a gift to the Chinese People.

@5bagpiper This is a very difficuit song to sing well. As she had a fairly severe asthma that inevitablely she needed to take prednisone to make her breathing easier. She she one of the greatest performing artist many of us have ever known!

With this in mind, it is a joy to see her enjoy the stage where she belonged for so many years. She passed on and now she is a legend in her own right. Rest in Peace Teresa.

I am also a asthmatic patient before and
stop using inhaler for more than four years since discharged from hospital until today.
Asthma is allergy issues, you have to find out what raise up your asthma, in my case I shifted to higher apartment with my wife and adopted aromatheraphy treatment.
The truth is, Medicine is drug and drug is poison, as long as you start taking it, surely one day your body start to accept drug and fails to function it supposed to be.

Watching her rapid aging, vocally weaker slight panting and trembling of her voice is very very sad indeed as her illness has taken a toll on her overall health.
Nevertheless, am extremely proud of her for providing such a great performance as she sang live where she could just easily mimic. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
It is indeed a blessing to those who enjoyed her music am sure will be continue to be enjoyed by many many more generations to come.

Wow, yes, I'm sad seeing this as her voice is weaker and she struggled at the end on that last note. Perhaps her asthma was somehow worsening as she got older? What bothers me more is seeing her so old looking. Geez, she looks like she is 55 or 60 yet she was I think 41 here. I feel she was really ill but hid it from the public. She does look bloated as someone below mentioned.
Perhaps her death was more than just asthma related, yet possibly the main or "other" reason was kept secret? Anyone?

Pls don't promote Tan Jing here. I hv seen her video once. Perhaps she has great vocal but there are lots of incredible trained voices like her in PRC. However, we love TT & continue to be because of her natural, warm, soothing, no. 1 tender & yet sweet, impeccable, colorful, haunting, mesmerising, irresistible vocal & personality. We wl be united & alive while TT sings with her deepest touching. She is more than true to hug us with her heart. We can feel LOVE in all her songs!

I guess it is all relative and relative to the way she normally looks she does not look so good here. If I had never had laid my eyes on her before she would look just fine. Anyway it is was her voice that was her forte not her looks. Did you know that she was banned in mainland China as too "bourgeois" for several years in the early 1980s? . Her record label was Japanese Polydor for a good while and she won 6 awards in Japan so perhaps that is why she loved Japan also.

I am a diehard TT fan but I must confess that the dress TT wore has bothered me. No, I do not hate Japanese people but their soldiers murdered and raped so many Chinese lives. They used Chinese to experiment their biological weapeons and they tried to devour our Northeast provinces. Do we have to wear their clothes to flatter them!?

If they want to crucify me, let me be Joan de Arc! As an Anglo Saxon woman who loves China through music and taichi, your observation is objective but not necessarily well received. If I am not wrong, it was one year before her death. You can see she was not in good health. She has Athsma. But she was the kind of Diva, once she gets the mic in her hand, she definitely would give her 1000%. I really love and miss her.
