  • I like both of these generators, I have read the comments and I see you said some plastic parts inside the generator came loose and destroyed the windings....I think the generator part, if you have one, needs to be tinkered with to make sure it doesn't break, as the little diesel engines that power them (I have one, and have run it for quite a long time) seem to be pretty robust. I agree with you though the little air cooled diesels are never going to be silent.

  • I think for about 100 bucks in insulation the chinese model could be made as quiet. would take a little work, and perhaps a modified water baffeled exaust. again pretty cheap for a diy

  • oh yeah

  • that's not a very good comparison like said several times in the comments.

you can't compare different types of engines because in your case it's what you are doing and it's what a generator is .

  • @michaelovitch Well, well,well... Yet another one missing the point. If you are going to compare things there is no point in comparing two identical machines.

To say it as direct as I can: The Cheap China Crap machine is noisy as hell no matter how many "Silent" stickers you stick on it and if you are lucky it will even run for a couple hundred hours before a major breakdown. You have been warned!

  • @SveinHaDD

i didn't miss the point at all and i understand the point on the video you want to stress on.

the fact is you can't compare two different products wich are built in a different way.

    it's like a 4 cylinders and a monocylinder on a bike.

your point was to show us the noise of the two but a lot of people tell you different engines make different noises and whatever the brand or nationality of the brand.

  • @michaelovitch

your focusing on the" silent " stickers but your vid only show a difference between 2 really differents products that you describe yourself in your description.

However i agree with you on the famous lack of quality of the Chinese products

  • I have a old US military diesel gen-set . Use it to keep the freezers going, furnace and such powered in outages. It says right on the side of it "warning, wear hearing protection" . Single lung 10 KW noise maker. Got it bolted down to the garage floor, and exhausted out back. Makes a lot of power, but Woo. it's a noisy thing. As long as the garage door is closed, its not too bad outside.

  • The EU is a liquid cooled multi cylinder gen set and the chinese unit is a single cyl. and its air cooled. Not a very fair comparison. You get what you pay for.

  • @MrJoseph1157 Yes, you get what you pay for, thats true, but the China Generator is the one with "SILENT" stickers all over...

  • @MrJoseph1157 Also the red one is only running at half the RPM of the chinky one as the red one will have a 4 pole alternator and not a 2 pole one.

  • The quietness is a big deal, and something worth paying more money for. When the power goes out, and your neighbors crank up their generators, and they leave them running all night (for air conditioning, for instance), it really adds insult to injury. If you've got one, consider using it in a shed, or building some sort of structure around it. Having said that, the European one here is very tolerable. There's no way to really appreciate the difference until you are in that spot.

  • @bobviously I agree, I was there in '05 with several hurricanes back to back in Miami, FL. Our small gas generator was a good quality one that was quite and I could hear one neighbor's generator several houses down over mine. Even if your neighbors all have gensets as well, they appreciate not having to hear yours whining all night long in addition to any others that are running. Of course most of them were out of gas after a few days as they did not prepare for storms like I did.

  • He's comparing a 1,000 Euro generator to an 8,000 Euro generator.

  • Omg. It's two different things. Try and compare apples to apples next time

  • @auroraron It is an apple to apple comparison, it's just that the apples grow on different parts of this globe...

  • But let's face it--if this genset is to be used for a long term outage or disaster, which one would you rather count on? I'd take the 3 cyl Mitsu any day. Actually the best setup I've seen is a single or dual cylinder Lister running at under 1000 RPM. Not huge amounts of power, but super reliable and quiet. They have outlawed them in the US.

  • @BlakeMason2 Apart from a few minor issues with the China generator, it also had a major (unrepairable) generator breakdown after 71 hours. The Alize have so far more than 18.000 hours on the counter and is still going strong :-)

  • @SveinHaDD what happened to it?

  • @outdoorsman310 Some plastic parts in the rotor broke loose and grated windings to an irreparable state.

  • @SveinHaDD Im glad to hear your Alize is still running great with so many hours on it, gives me confidence that my Lister-Petter powered genset will run for a LONG time more with only 2500 hours on it so far.

  • There's no way you will get the gallons/kWhr in the cheap china one at 3kRPM. The Alize is waaaay better. The remote start though is kinda cool.

  • @BlakeMason2 Yes, the remote is quite useful even if it only have about 20 meters range. I wonder about the fuel consumption pr kWhr. The China diesel is a direct injected one cylinder diesel and the Alize have a Mistubishi 3 cylinder pre-chamber engine. More cylinders and pre-chamber/indirect injection should give a higher fuel consumption but 1500 rpm should help reducing it.

  • And what was the point of this ridiculous comparison??

How can you even begin to compare a single cylinder air cooled engine running at 3,000 rpm to a two or is it three cylinder water cooled engine running at 1,500 rpm??? Of course the Chinese diesel is going to be louder!

And I wonder why the price tag is about 5-6 times higher? (rolls eyes).....

  • @Lucianrider No need to make stupid comments, the facts/differences between the two is given in the description. Take this video for what it is: The China "Silent Diesel Generator" gives you a lot of noise for the bucks...
