what happens at 0:13? does he hammer the B-10th fret with his pinky and put his index figer at E-8th fret and slide it at a point just to give the taste of "its being slided" ?
@blok31092 the tele is twangier, and has a more noticeable treble, the strat is known for its mids. They sound very different, especially when its a clean sound
i have a question about your fingertechnique, do you only use your index fixer and your thumb while picking? thanks! i adore your work btw, beautifull tone!
I'm so tired of hearing how tabs are so evil. It really depends on what type of learner you are. I prefer a combination of tabs for reference, and a video lesson for technique, fingering, and timing. If you don't need tabs, that's great but please feel free to keep it to yourself and let others find their own path. Thanks for the video dude, it sounds great
Stop complaining people, this is the best thing you can do if you want to learn it: watch his hands. The tough thing in the song is the right hand pattern, once you get that it'll be a piece of cake. Just practice and it will come.
@jedster5 he informs you on his page that "Lots of people ask me why I call my videos lessons, and my reasoning is that I believe that the best way to learn is by watching people play songs over and over until you SEE and HEAR the notes. This method is much more beneficial in the long run compared to tabs."
@A7X514 I could not figure out what that last chord was to save my life. So I was looking all over the place to find out how other people fingered it. Now I know that it's Db/ F, and I also know why everyone is starting on D instead of C#. Woops.
The only thing I would say - and it´s not a criticism - just what my teacher showed me, is that when you slap with the thumb, it´s best to leave the thumb on the string. This gives a more percussive sound and stability to the hand, which in turn can give an even better tone. Thanks for posting!
@Geetar2112 Well it's tough because you have to slap and pluck with your finger at the same time. So slapping means you are also coming down with a finger on the string...it's easy to do them separately, but together it's a different story.
Very true mate - it took me ages but it´s worth the hard work:) Once you get the habbit of slapping and flicking at the same time everything else gets easier. I was watching your vid again for the middle section and I really like the way you play it!
Depends on your point of view troygstott, there are plenty of vids teaching this slowly and breaking it down. I found this one helpful as it´s nice to watch the whole performance and see how the pick and flick technique works with the little melody lines thrown in. Good job by the way! Nice guitar, is it a 1952 reissue?
i can play this song.. but he just makes my version sound not so good.. i mean i dont know some parts of the song.. and he does and now i need to learn more but i dont have the time =[ geez.. .. ok let me try some more..
@AyuniShaari Not at all. The chords are complicated for a beginner. The fingerpicking is complicated for an intermediate player already. I suggest you start with a simpler song. I suggest Daughters by John Mayer.
@MalfoysMuppetMates try checking knowa626's tutorial. He teaches Stop This Train also. But it's essentially the same pattern. ... and if you listen closely, it's essentially the same as Who Says also.
what the hell whats with all these bad ass guitars, fender tele, that sttrat with reversed neck that mayer has, that other strat the gibson, the martin'S, if i wouldnt know better id ask if youre john mayer jsut wasting time doing covers of your own songs with your great guitars
@hankammer23259 not always man, being able to read musical notation is just as important. While i do agree that it is important to be able to learn tunes by ear, i think that it is silly to say one thing is "better" then the other.

great playing, you think you could pm me the chord(s) for that outro..I can't figure them out for some reason even from the vid... greatly appreciate it!
I see you lift your thumb off when adding that note on the high E string during that Bminor chord. I've been wondering how people add that note with their pinky while their thumb is still fretting the low E... Impossible for me to do. But now that I've seen that it sounds good that way I'll play it like that from now on!
