  • Its called a reverse sneeze. nothing really serious jus gently rub the neck and check to make sure thr collar is not too tight if ur dog has one. I have a pug n i panicked at first then did some research and found out shell b fine.

  • I have a sliky also. She does this once in a while. The breeder called it a "reverse sneeze" and it's nothing to worry about. Totally normal for Silky terriers and those breeds closely related. She does a fair amount of "grunting" also. My wife calls them puppy grunts. She does it when she is very content....like when bacon has been served.

  • My silky dose that to but more hevier :S :(....But shes fine: )

  • That is some times called a reverse sneeze. My silky does that all the time. Its normal.

  • My dog has done this before...it freaked me out.

  • My dog's a golden retriever, and if you scratch her in a place she likes, she does the exact same thing! How weird...

  • my Pomeranian terrier snorts like that mostly when excited or scared.

  • my silky terrior does that i though it was dry heaving though

  • I have an australian terrier and he grunts and snorts alot... the old owner said it meant he was talkingto you...

  • haha was it a old man, because my friend bought a dog from a old man and the dog was snorting and he said "O ya, he does that alot near me, he just wants to talk."

  • I gots an australian terrier. its a beast. they are such loyal dogs =D

  • Thanx Daniel for sharing your baby with us. I don't think you are dumb or mean. I think maybe you didn't realize that he needed a drink. My silky sometimes does that because he has allergies. Again..thanx Daniel.

  • This is common for small dogs, especially for old terriers. Our dog makes that sound sometimes (she is an australian terrier like your dog). The breeder call it "terriercough".

But it's great that you checked it out. It could collapsing trachia.

  • I was concerned when my little rescue silkese did this. The vet did multiple radiographs to be sure he did not have collapsing trachia as is common in some small dogs. He did not. Many small dogs do this, but it is good to get it checked out.

  • yeh man i did take her to the doctors, and they said she was fine

  • that happened to my last dog, in the end he had to be on tablets because his trachia would collapse, it was like he was having a fit the poor thing.

in the end he passed away its good that you took it to the vet to get your dog checked out.

I'm just glad my dog died peaceful at home and I didnt have to take him to the vet to put him down.

I now am blessed with a beautiful maltese pomeranian who is 11 months

  • People who don't know anything about dogs shouldn't comment. This is a very common thing called a reverse sneeze. It can be caused by things such as gulping food, drinking too fast, or getting excited or nervous. It does not mean the dog is sick.

  • This is true

I have a silky terrier and he does this when he gets exited

I aked the vet about it and she says it is common in some breeds of small dogs

  • Good for you! I have had 3 poodles in my 40 years and all 3 of them made that snorting sound all of the time. In fact our dogs did it long and hard for about 90 seconds at a time. The vet always said it was normal and that it was a trait in some pure breaded dogs. Usually the smaller dogs did this.

  • yeh thats good man....:)

  • your dog is sick get him to the doctor dumbass!

  • i hope everyone reads this, the dog is not fucking sik, it happened once and we just happened to video record so stop sayin its sik and im an idiot for not taking it to the doctors ,we gave it some water and it hasnt done it since.

  • @Wildwacht Dog is not sick. This is a genetic " reverse sneeze" that all silky terriers do. Mine will do it when excited, like when bacon is involved.

  • your dog looks rather like as a silky terrier instead an aussie terrier,I'm wrong?

  • its called asthma da

  • idiot, i have an australian terrier too and when he does that, it really ain't "hillarious sounds", it means that the dog is sick. moron.

  • hes sooooooooooooocute and ur mean =(

  • my aussie makes the same noise my vet heard it and said it comes from a slight collapse of the trachea as these critters age

  • I have had heaps of aussies. I have had ones that snort, but I have also had one that snort gasps like yours. It has heart worm, little dog like that can't survive the treatment, sorry dude.

  • LOL MY DOG DOSE IT AS WELL

  • its when the dogs throat dries up. Just take it to a bowl of water and let it drink. Small dogs generally do it more.

  • ye u write its not sick

  • yer i like dangyamns dog it was good but not sick

  • That´s not funny. I have an australian terrier and everytime he does that it means he´s sick. Stupid, how could you upload a video like this? Jerk!!

  • ya full of crap mate

  • @davechicolombia The dog isn't sick. It's a genetic spasm. Ours does it when she is excited.
