  • This recording has the Marvelettes on background. But the Adantes are there, too, under the background vocals. You can hear the two groups if you listen closely. It's Georgeanna so prominent here but on "Need for Love" it's Katherine! I called her voice on that one piercing in a story for I think it was Goldmine and she complained to me about it but I told her it was a compliment. By the way, Katherine is one of the most classy, intelligent, informed people you could imagine.

  • It's GEORGEANNA & JUANITA!!! Will you folks PLEASE learn how to S-P-E-L-L your favorite Stars names?- Jeeze Louise!!!

  • Wonderfull! Love them so much, this is music people! Love the funk brothers, love the Marvelettes. All the credit to them.....

  • LEAD SINGER GLADYS HORTON DIED IN 2006 R.I.P.

  • @OldGoldSoul Don't u mean 26 january 2011?

  • If they hadn't turned down WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO, things could have been different.

  • I have this song on a cd of Marvelettes songs but I think Gladys is doing the lead. If this is Georgina she had a very nice voice and should've done more leads.

  • @Vincent50

This is Gladys on lead. Georgeanna never led a song.

  • @behdoc I agree. It's definitely Gladys singing lead. Georgeanna is simply "hogging" the back-up!

  • @behdoc Also, was this song a "B" side to any hit? Or album filler? Although I Luved Georgeannas tenor- She simply sang TOO LOUD on most of her Marvelette recordings-which mired the groups harmony! Poor Katherine-the groups only soprano- could barely be heard...

  • @zodiolestes Well, to answer my "own" question; I think that this track is from the Motown Vaults... Peachez De Meachez- Gay men can be "Cattier" than most women!!! Lordy Be...

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Thanks for posting. I love this son.

  • Did Georgeanna do more leads? This is the first time I've ever heard her.

  • Why did gorgianna have to die same with junianta

    such a shame

  • Wyanetta (Juanita when she was with the Marvelettes)Coward Motley left The Marvelettes in April 1962. She is alive and well and still resides in Inkster, Michigan.

  • Great song, finally available on the new 3-CD set "Marvelettes - Forever". :-)

  • RIP, Georgeanna.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I love the marvelettes its sad that all the marketing of those days went to DIANA ROSS and then the supremes.I love the supremes but the marvelettes there are no words.gladys and wanda have unique voices.

  • this group is really amazing- they could play it completely fun and youthful, but then they could also give you a very thoughtful and moving performance. this is one of their great "let's-throw-down, take-no-prisoners" performances!

  • HEY NOW. I have this song too. That real Motown Sound! Thanks for posting. My fav female R&B group of all time.

  • I always wanted to hear them individually because I read in of the many Motown tomes that they did not blend well and that is reason for using The Andantes(they deserve mad props 2)

  • everyone has a lead except kat and wanita,

but i have got a tune called silly boy that has kat, gorgianna and wanda saying phrases sepretly.

    shall i upload it?

  • I've always windered who led this, TYhanks for posting this and Do you have "Maybe I Dried May Teardrops For The Last Time" If you do please post it

  • yes i do.

    i will post by tuesday.

  • OK, I'll look out for that, I've always been a big fan of THe Marvelettes

  • Comment removed

  • yes it really is...if only they were groomed like the Supremes...because as much as live 4 the Supremes 60's and 70's and love Martha and her many vandellas,The Marvelettes just do it for me.I love their sound and songs.Wanda Rogers needs to be in the Hall Of Fame alone just cuz her voice is like no other ..okay let me calm down

  • true. theres something special about these girls

  • Wanda does indeed have a wonderful. i remember back in 1965, I was invited to a Motown Ball at the Greystone Ballroom. I met alot of Motowners, and I had a long talk with Wanda. Her voice almost had a kitty kat type of style didnt it?

  • Wow! You got to talk to and hang out with legends! I'm envious. The Marvelettes don't receive enough credit.

  • yep

  • @BEAUSONS EXCUSE? But the Marvelettes were NEVER "The Wanda Young-Rogers Show!" She wasn't even an Original member-but a Last minute replacement for another girl who wrote the "Please Mr. Postman"-Georgia Dobbins. Furthermore, Wandas early falsetto in the group sounded exactly like Edith Bunker on "All In The Family"! Gladys Horton was the Original Lead on "Please Mr. Postman","Playboy", "Beachwood4-5789,&"Too Many Fish In The Sea". YOU ARE THE TYPE OF FAN THAT MAKES MONSTERS LIKE DIANA ROSS!!!

  • @zodiolestes Don't get me wrong-I AM A HUGE WANDA YOUNG FAN, and I am "grateful" that Wanda was able to pull the Marvelettes out of their economic/artistic "slump". She returned the group to "steelar-star-status" with hits like "Don't Mess With Bill", 'Danger:Heartbreak, Dead Ahead", "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game", and "My Baby Must Be A Magician". BUT THE MARVELETTES WERE A GROUP EFFORT- just like The Temptations. They ALL need to be represented at The Rock& Roll Hall Of Fame Awards!!!

  • whoa what a find!!! where did you find this gem??

  • its great right!
