  • The Beatles loved Buddy Holly and Elvis, and were influenced by them.

  • The tempo picks up toward the end of his performance. Watch his eyes starting at 1:09. I think someone he loves is watching. His eyes keeps going back to her. The way my eyes go back to my love. Can't keep my eyes away. Tell me love is real.

  • I love that Paul McCartney took it upon himself to make a proper Holly documentary. I'm not peronally a Beatles fan, but I have great respect for what they have done to keep Buddy's legacy alive throughout the years. Thank you, Paul!

  • and i have that movie on tape and it's really good

  • For a 3 chord song its amazing, Buddy is a genius. Who better to cover it than macca!!

  • Perfect *_*

  • this is from the movie 'The real Buddy Holly story" made by Paul himself, Great movie

  • Paul is god.

  • RIP Buddy Holly 50 years

    Thank you, Sir Paul.

  • Awesome performance as usual :)

  • Buddy Holly song + Paul McCartney = the best thing iv heard in a long time. voice of an angel ppls

  • he said not for a guy ? what

i didnt understand him aww man i love this song both versions hollys and this 1

    8D

  • "This is not bad for a guy from Lubbock right?" Buddy Holly was from Lubbock and wrote this song.

  • id hate to tell you drutgat but paul can hit any note he wanted to he sounds as if he has a cold or somthing the man is the best

  • Just check the 'Back In The U.S.' DVD extras where he is telling (Emmylou Harris, I think) that he used to play 'Here, There and Everywhere' in G, but now does it in E. Also, LISTEN, work the chords out, and you'll see he changes the keys to several songs because his voice (like Jagger's and others') had gotten deeper.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a genius, and a great performer and wonderful musician, but we all age. Don't let blind allegiance deceive you.

  • Yes, Paul sings it well, tho' his voice isn't Holly's (whose is?) and it lacks the sheer vitality, the fun, the romp, the brio, of Holly's embellishments. Still, I can understand why Paul wanted to re-visit this classic, because IT is perfect. All its elements are clear, economical, balanced. Paul captures the relaxed tempo and rhythm of the original so nicely that it comes to life again, singing its words of love and pleasure without a trace of mania or angst...thanks for the memory!

  • its holly dude

  • Well I disagree strongly. Buddy Holly was great but he was no Paul McCartney. Paul's voice is superior. But it's not a contest. And it's not putting Buddy down, because this is Paul fucking McCartney. Few compare to him. In fact I can only think of one. His name was John.

  • Paul's a creator as is Buddy.... Buddys leap was farther from what was the norm, but Paul is living a much longer life than Buddy, singers with quality voices greater than both of them are fortunately in greater numbers.... but creators are rarer... plus better equiptment and higher quality will always glitter above 50's music but the raw quality and its emotion is hard to match...I am almost 60 and a Beatle fan ... they took the hand off from Buddy, Eddie, Richie, etc.....

  • Actually, Paul's voice on this sucks vs Buddy, but I will agree that Lennon-McCartney were the tops.

But listen to Buddy on this, and Paul sounds flat in comparison. He is in the wrong key for him. He goes flat on the low notes....

  • so what hes messing around it's not serious, who cares?

  • @TravelerDiogenes No offense but you must be tone deaf because at no time during this film does Paul's voice go out out of pitch or flat, either the very low or very high parts. Tell me how many singers have that range and his guitar playing is great especially the arpeggio at the end.

  • wow

    i <3 macca's voice on this :)

  • tell me how you feel...

    super chido.

  • It is actually kind of sad because Paul's harmonies with John and George were so great on this song and now he is alone.

  • Wow...your right man.

  • LUV U PAUL!!

  • forgot last verse ..." let me here you say the words...

  • D E A. So simple. So good.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...sir paul

    5 *stars*

  • awesome post MACCA LEGEND awesome awesome share laura060366

  • Love Paul!!!

  • This is the best video I have seen on You Tube. What a beautiful tribute from one awesome musician to another!

  • Great job once again Paul...

  • buddy holly will always be remembered.

    he started rock n roll.

and it is true.. the song miss american pie.. its right that day the big bopper richie valens and buddy holly died.. was the day music died. there is still amazing music after them.. they just started it all..

    thankyou buddy holly!!

  • who more fitting to pay such simple, yet profound homage to the great Buddy Holly. This simple acoustic is such a profound personal tribute, from deep inside Sir Paul's heart. It touches you in a whole different way than Buddy's original. Its almost as if he is so graciously just saying thank you, and rest peacefully, your music lives on.

  • Nevermind...

    Now I remember...

  • OK, YouTube is screwing up now. I don't remember posting anything here but, I got a response to a comment anyway. I DO remember watching this but, that's it. Unless it's a new feature, I didn't think you could generate a response by just watching...

  • this is a genious guy at his very best. WELL DONE SIR PAUL

    we love you too

  • It sounds like Paul was thinking so much of Buddy Holly as we was singing this CLASSIC BUDDY HOLLY SONG, yet somehow he was able to put HIS own trademark on this song. Thanks Sir Paul....Great Video...

  • this is one of the finest videos I've seen on Youtube...the Beatles version was the ultimate, but seeing Paul do it alone is very moving.

  • I love this song and Paul does it awesomely!

    BUDDY HOLLY LIVES!

  • perfect performance! thanks gina.

  • This is great and very nice. Thank you for charing with us, and thank's for tips Gina!

  • playlsted ... you silly rockabillychickee... love sir paul....

  • Yes!! its perfect like everything paul does... thanks for the comments... i´ll be sharing more of this videos...

  • awesome! lookin forward to it! =)

  • this is from BBC program called appropiately "BUDDY HOLLY" ....includes interviews with Paul M, Keith R., Buddy's 2 older brothers, the original Crickets, Maria Elena(sp), and lots of others... tours around Lubbock to show spots where things were done and a real treat was home movies and pictures of their short tour into England..... this prior US invasion in 50's ignited the powerful British Invasion of the 60's......great show...

  • What year is this from? And what program? Still looking good Paul ;)

  • I love this!!! What's the deal with the not-very-Liverpudlian-accent though? :S

  • paul mc cartney like buddy and his songs hes on the real buddy holly story

  • I've never seen Paul so at peace. It comes out in his voice as well.

  • They called it "jangle pop" - featuring chiming 12-string guitars (Rickenbacker 360/12 usually) and typical power pop elements. The Byrds, The Hollies and The Who were all on the bandwagon for a while. The most famous opening chord in rock, from "A Hard Days Night", was on a Rick 12 (as was the fade). Peace, love, and happiness.

  • Pauk could sound good playing a Kazoo!

  • What video is this from?

  • I didn't know sir Paul lived in a barn

  • It's a special left-handed barn built for him by Vera, Chuck & Dave.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAA good one

  • i love how the beatles did this song, and i love the beatles, but buddy did the song better.

  • No, seeing as this is a Buddy Holly song. The Beatles covered it back in the 60's.

  • awesome ¡¡¡¡

  • What did Keith Richard say at the beginning?

  • not bad for a guy with the love of bread

  • ur kidding me: Keith's words are "This is not bad from a guy from Lubbock right" Refering to Buddy Holly who wrote the song.

  • i don't hear him say "right" at the end

  • he is saying love of bread because that is all they had in liverpool. poor area. it is also an old saying from england

  • He's saying "this is not bad from a guy from Lubbock, right?" It's from a show honoring Buddy Holly. (love of bread!!!!!!!)

  • he is singing johns harmonies, this is fenomenal!

  • how can you sing a harmony with one voice

  • I was talking about the version that he recorded with the Beatles.

He sang harmony with John and George on that one and it was the only Buddy Holly song that they ever recorded.

  • they also did crying waiting hoping live at the bbc

  • that'll be the day

  • he is singing johns harmonies, this is fenomenal!

  • I feel with my fingers

  • This acoustic was done in 1987 as a tribute to budy holly..

  • Thank you very much...

  • when did he do this acoustic version

  • hold me close and tell me how you feel tell me love is real mmhhmmm words of love you whisper soft and true darling i love you

  • i love this song and this version is really pretty

  • I saw them on Ed Sullivan's show and the Beatles are still gear.
