Such a great sounding band when he did dance band numbers like this rather than the light orchestral ones that seem to crop up in the main on the UK HMV i come accross.
One of your best uploads! Sensuous without being schmaltzy, even though Marek W. was a Galitzianer. (Old Jewish rivalry bet. G's and Litvaks like myself)
A lovely restful tune, so sweetly played. I love the bio of this urbane Galitzianer turned an American farmer. I can just see him on the farmhouse porch in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe and counting chickens.
The picture at 1:30 is priceless. It says so much. Very chilling. It's a warning as to how a nation was betrayed on January 30th 1933.

@Vogler9 Me too ! I may be a minority, but I do love his Salon music recordings as well. I wonder
if any Weber recordings have shown up on CD besides the ones on UK Vocalion CD's.

Obwohl nur instrumental, ist das mit Abstand die beste Version von dem Lied. Da stimmt einfach alles. Ein Meilenstein der Musikgeschichte!

Weber recorded a superb arrangement here, cautiously keeping balance between true dance band style and a more classical concert style.
