Part of recon skull easter egg. To do it, do what he did, go into the blue lift slowley(you need a code to get you to the place where the recon skull is) and you'll be teleported onto a mountain. walk carfully and you'll se the skull. pick it up and you've got it.

On the level The Covenant, there is a secret room in the third tower where Johnson was. But to get into the tower, you will need to time travel into the future with a Hornet. If your not sure how to time travel with a Hornet, you can watch my other video about how to time travel with a Hornet.Once in the future, go to the third tower and fly behind it. Now you will see two floors. Fly into the bottom section of the tower but not under it. Make sure you fly at full speed or you won't make it.READ

a trigate is something from halo 2, it is secret hidden markings, usually on a wall, and you usually have to glitch the map to discover them. There are trigates in halo 3 but not all have been discovered

its complicated but the Halo games were originally supposed to be about gate travel where you unlock certain gates and travel to new worlds. Bungie didn't have time to finish this in Halo 2 so they took it out. In Halo 3, i think they are just there as an Easter Egg or as a reference to Halo 2.
