You can hook up your fantom to teh X50 and use it as a controller. there's no point in having two high end 88-key synths. stick with the fantom, and buy a keytar!!
You're only going to find ONE type of keytar, believe it or not... Luckily, it's a very good one (but very high end, since it's new technology.. it'll run you about 1,000 bucks) and that's the Roland Ax Synth. It's the Roland Ax-7 upgrade. You might still find older keytars on eBay for 700-1000 bucks. Won't find anything cheaper... I'm saving up for an AxSynth!!

I've played both, and I'm telling you it's like the same keyboard. The keys are different and the triton has more features, but the X50 does all the triton can do. I recommend getting a cheap smaller controller and running it through your triton, so you're using the fat sounds but the light keys. Gl!
For the intro, I used a string patch (D003). For the main riff I used D106. For the crystal like sound I used A080. All of these are in prog bank. Only changes I made were I transposed the A080 and D003 sounds by 12 steps/full octave. Hope this helped! Oh and post a response when you're done!

No, no! Don't buy an X50 if you already have the Extreme! There are tons of duplicates! In fact, the X50 is a more affordable option to the Triton. If you do get it, it's like downgrading.
That sounds about right. It's a professional keyboard, and if you can afford to make that kind of investment on an instrument, I assure you won't need to buy a new keyboard for at least 10 years

I don't remember specifically for this video, because back then I didn't have the update with the favorites menus... But now, I use D003 for the strings in beginning, D106 for the Main lead sound riff, A080 for the crystal-like sound after that,D003 for the strings after that, and then the sounds are just repeated. They are tweaked slightly (I added reverb to strings, a delay to the lead, decreased the reverb on the crystal sound) but it doesn't make too much of a difference. Good luck!
They are all PROG-bank sounds. D106 AMSFeedBackLead is the exact patch name for the lead sound. In fact I just turned my keyboard on and the patch is there. You have the X50 right? What version is it (when you turn it on, it tells you the version)?? like 1.0.1

The X50 is the upgrade to the X5D, so I would recommend the X50. I'm not sure about the TR61, It is more expensive than the X50, so it probably has some added features (I would imagine it has a Favorites bank, being that the X50 is the ONLY keyboard without it...) so it's up to you. Find out if a local music store has one or both, play around for a bit, and only then make up your mind. Good Luck!
I bought my keyboard yesterday,the TR61 because the springs in the keys are better and theres a sequenser in the TR61. I'm happy with what i bought + i get a free padkontrol with no charges with it ( worth 250 )

thanks man. some korg x50 users told me that there is a split and layer function. korg X50 can be splitted up to 8 voices..the X50 is more powerful coz aside from splitting to 8 voices(triton engine), you can insert effects(IFX)on each voice,use portamento,arpeggiator,SW(octave up,octave down),realtime controls and more features not to mention if you will explore it.. uelkeyz told me..

He does though, seen them live before? He's got some method of switching sounds quickly, I think a pedal would do fine. The think with the X50 is that it's a PAIN in the ass switching sounds. Any other keyboard you can do it with 1 button, X50 you need to input Main bank, sub bank, then 3 digit number. So thats 5 wasted clicks. Plus, the sound I use on the main riff is Monophonic, so I couldn't play the string chords with it. Thanks though!

I was messing around with "War of Worlds" and "Trip". Easy songs, but it's kind of like........ I don't like the sounds Janne uses sometimes, makes him sound like he's the guy from Dragonforce..... Speed isn't everything, IMO.
Man you have to learn to play the piano with the right technique, also learn how to creat good sounds with your keyboard, you have an excellent keyboard so..learn..

Heh, thanks! But yeah. I don't play piano, I play keyboard. In my eyes, two completely different instruments. I am self taught, so "learning the right technique" is just out of the question. However, I'm thinking of taking lessons soon, when I get an upright piano. And the problem with having kick ass sounds on the Korg is that I have no quick way to switch between them. So I stuck to basic ones.

Actually, in combination mode, the D bank doesnt exist, and it just doesnt fit in Program mod. Are you sure its the D106 sound ?

Cute, lol. It's PROGA080 PaddyWhack. I transposed it a full 12 steps / full octave, b/c the keyboard doesn't have the full 7th octave I needed..

does the korg x50 have a split voice function? like using a voice on the left side and another voice on the right side? i just want to be sure before i buy one for myself. thanks in advance.

I'm not entirely sure, I have yet to tap into the board's full potential, but I don't remember seeing anything about Split/Layer functions in the manual. Sorry...

PROG A080PaddyWack. Raised it by One (1) octave, and changed master effect to 056.

good cover man but i think you should leave it on the effect you use for the main riff.
because you don't see janne swapping effects when he plays live. no offence but you spend to much time messing round with effects. effects aside tho very good cover

He does though, seen them live before? He's got some method of switching sounds quickly, I think a pedal would do fine. The think with the X50 is that it's a PAIN in the ass switching sounds. Any other keyboard you can do it with 1 button, X50 you need to input Main bank, sub bank, then 3 digit number. So thats 5 wasted clicks. Plus, the sound I use on the main riff is Monophonic, so I couldn't play the string chords with it. Thanks though!

Keyboard was US$699 dollars. I don't have a video for a new version of Hate Me. Youtube won't let me add a new video but keep the same views and comments (15 thousand views!!) so I think adding a new one is kind of redundant.. unless I remove this one.. but I understand some ppl have it bookmarked..

I was messing around with "War of Worlds" and "Trip". Easy songs, but it's kind of like........ I don't like the sounds Janne uses sometimes, makes him sound like he's the guy from Dragonforce..... Speed isn't everything, IMO.

Man you have to learn to play the piano with the right technique, also learn how to creat good sounds with your keyboard, you have an excellent keyboard so..learn..

Heh, thanks! But yeah. I don't play piano, I play keyboard. In my eyes, two completely different instruments. I am self taught, so "learning the right technique" is just out of the question. However, I'm thinking of taking lessons soon, when I get an upright piano. And the problem with having kick ass sounds on the Korg is that I have no quick way to switch between them. So I stuck to basic ones.
