This is so interesting. It looks like Britain got all of the good stuff from the sixties without any of the bad stuff that we had over here in the U.S. You had the end of mandatory military service; we had hundreds of thousands drafted to fight in a bitter war. You had images like 05:30 - orderly bobbies decorously carrying out their duties - while we had images of brutal clashes between police and protesters/hippies/African Americans. And you had the Beatles and the Stones!
I want to write a book about the 60's...but it isn't going to be any book: It will be the one that ends the discussion of the decade. It will be more than history (unlike "Nixonland" and "The 60's), but secret history: facts that we still don't know about. And at the heart of the story will be the eight murders that shook America between 1963 and 1984-the shooting deaths of Medger Evers, John F. Kennedy, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X., Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, John Lennon, and Marvin Gaye.
Man I wish I could've been around in the 60s. The music was awesome no auto tune or any of that crap. The tv shows were cool too. Now we just have shows about teen girls getting pregnant and people partying and having sex. Ugh I was born in the wrong generation. :(
so thats how the sixties were, wow the girls looked hotter, there was a lot of partying and weed; its too bad i was born in 93 ive would've enjoyed doing all that
@SNIP3RJKS yup thats right and don't forget the tiny little Honda 50 that you coulda had instead of a big power bike thats out there these days lol..i drove one back then
they were interested in mysticism.....sometime chemically induced lol
seriously, if everyone dreamt of peace today like the hippies did in the 60's there probably always would be, if it wasn't just considered foolish and "dropping out of society" it would've happened everywhere
FLOWER POWER.

Pretty hippie girl 3:38
I was born in 94. I hope someone invent a time machine someday, and we can mess around with the hippies, listen to rock music...

Excellent video.
I loved the 1960's.
I'm from America, but we all rocked to the same beat.

Too bad the politics sucked, Rock and Roll wasn't played 24 7. But people had more of a voice.
