  • Bang on awl fucking right tee

  • fucking magic. simples;)

  • This is the first song I ever heard by the Chameleons, it first hit my ears in my 13th or 14th year, and really spoke to a depressed teenager at the time.

    Gosh, I love these guys.

  • There've been The Beatles and other brilliant bands, but the Chameleons are a brilliance of another, higher order. I've just never heard anything quite like them and I don't expect to again. Listening to "Intrigue In Tangiers", "Screaming Rule Brittania" and too many more of their songs puts me in the passenger seat of a Ferrari convertible driving at screaming speeds on mountain roads beside and above the Mediterranean Sea in the dead of summer's night. Close as I'll get.

  • Yeah i couldn't listen to Interpol after loving The Chameleons most of my life.

I have forgiven them and can now enjoy it as a band who must admire them a lot to want to reproduce their sound so well. Nothing will ever match the beauty of "Script of a bridge".

  • MEGA UNDERRATED BAND!!

  • awesome, just awesome

  • @MrChameleon2010 Vox is Mark Burgess. I can only assume that there is some copyright issue w/ using the original name.

  • @thenameisbond Yeah. That's what I think too. Have you seen Vox? If so, what'd you think? I've seen them. It was loud. Good to see Mark and hear the Chameleons songs live, but a bit underwhelming. Maybe it was the venue. I'm still glad I got to see the show though!

  • @alitamf84 No, I've only seen the videos. I wish I could have seen the Chams when they were still together.

  • @thenameisbond Me too. Alas, when they were on the road in the 80s I was under 6!

  • @MrChameleon2010

Chameleons Vox is Mark on vocals with Bushart (who feature John Lever on drums), performing a full set of Chameleons material.

Although they're not /quite/ the real thing, the general concensus is that the gigs are better than the Chameleons reunion tour from 2000. Though of course, you ought to consider that statement sacriligious :-)

If you can get to see them, do. Even without Reg and Dave, it's still marvelous to experience the whole thing as it was meant to be.

  • THIS WAS THE REAL THING.

John Lever called the Chameleons times like this. Only just last April. Met him 7th April 2010 in Liverpool. JOHN LEVER!!!

  • U2? Who are they??

  • This video is available on the Cleopatra Dvd compilation Industrial Revolution (two disc set)..

  • Underrated MUSIC LEGENDS!!!

  • i love these vocals, and consistant bass playing, a true artist....fuck that, a great band.

  • Ive seen both U2 and the Chameleons.

    Chameleons win hands down!

  • @stratts123 I ve never seen U2 but i saw the chameleons in 85, it was great gig !!

  • f-ing Interpol ripped em off so bad!!!!

  • @urckrecords I love Interpol's first album. I love the Chameleons. I love Joy Division. I didn't really understand all of the Joy Division comparisons. When I first heard the Chameleons I thought "This is who Interpol sounds like!"

  • @alitamf84 completely agree

  • OWIT!

  • I'm digging these guys so much I want to cover one of their songs!!

  • This as way cool! Great sound for this time. Forget the comparisons to U2 because these guys sound like they could have taken over the world!!! And how is it they did not? Great band though...I'm shocked I just found out about them!

  • What a great song. I wouldn't compare the Chameleons to U2. There are some superficial similarities in the minimalist guitar-playing that you hear in the two bands, but that's about it. The Chameleons, especially during this period, had a much darker, more intense sound than U2.

  • I saw U2 in 1982 and they were horrible. I never saw the Chameleons but I know they were a far superior band.

  • I never thought to look up the Chameleons on here... glad i did and finally get to see them... Brilliant!

  • i would kill to see them live today cant wait till they next play, and by god they better play again !

  • You get quite a few people on here saying they should have been bigger than U2 or something. While The Chameleons at their height were amazing (I saw them live once in the early 80s and was knocked out by the performance) I dont think they quite had more than a few outstanding songs. Brilliant live band.

  • Qu'est ce que je regrette de ne pas les avoir vu en concert .

  • dark, strong, depressive and grand at all.

  • What made Burgess a great vocalist was his great vocal timing and melodies. I dig his lyrics too.

  • I loved these guys since 84 - they should have been massive, - but im kind of glad they werent. - I have this on VHS

  • Very intense song.

  • BMF!!!!!!! 20 years :')

  • still good after all these years

  • has anyone got the full lyrics to this song?

  • fantastic song, love the lyrics

  • o, my, God. I'm gonna cry. THANK YOU

  • "ignored by them all - i stumble & fall..."

but definitely not ignored by all of us here!

Thanx for posting this amazing track!

  • I know Swamp Thing is ther most known hit, but this has always been my favorite.

  • As far as I am concerned this is the best song ever recorded. Thanks Mark...

  • Their best performance I've seen.

  • Superb vidéo whith good acoustic
