  • expensive?

  • it's been almost exactly 5 years!!! since they made this (or according to when the video was posted)

  • Sony pulled out of oled last week... They did made oled But was to hard to make.

  • Sony pulled out of o-led discontinuing only making monitors not tv due to cost I. Making them...

  • @KiraRuya And Samsung took up the challenge and made a way better one than this.

  • 4 years ago? WTF?

    They still didn't commercialize it!!

    FCK!!

  • 4 years ago ? WTH ? you rock sony !!!

  • a t-shirt made out of this would look nice :)

    HOLY FUCK!!!!!

  • Holly fuck

  • pretty cool, but what's the benefit of a flexible screen, a smartphone for example is better off NOT flexible

  • @Volarknight Thats narrow thinking, with a decent enough power cell your clothing could become a smartphone or even better.

  • This was the tech of 2007 imagine what they are working on now? tracing paper with hdtv?

  • This is fucking amazing.

  • now flexible CPU ?

  • That is already happining on galaxy S2

  • Why did Sony ditch the OLED project?

  • @piper4seeformerly

they didnt, they have a few new cameras with oleds and the hmz-T1 3D viewer uses 2 oled screens, one for each eye

  • 240p, we meet again..

  • I'm so proud of Sony.

  • @itzmatt11 Well, who knows, really?

When the concept for apple's iPhone first came out on the net, people expected such classy devices to exist well into 2020...

But then, the first generation of the iPhone actually came out much earlier than even now... (2011).

I think that ultimately, it's the company that's the main issue here.

I do not think Sony is actually pushing hard for such flexible OLEDs to appear in the main consumer market currently. (They could if they tried.)

  • it would be cool if you could have a flexy phone it could be like near thickness of a credit card and be all flexy and spiffy and stuff and things :3

  • they should call it THE SONT FLEX!!! pretty cool name...

  • put them in a shirt.... and we can all be tellytubbies!!!

  • Comment removed

  • So when will my Capt'n Crunch cereal box be fitted with one of these playing one licensed episode of Spongebob Squarepants? Then the empty box and its disposable OLED sticker display is tossed....

  • Boring what else is new I didn't find this " discovery" interesting.

  • it'll only be a matter of time before we can roll up our tv's and glue them to the wall

  • @wawahwario this video is from 2007 lol

  • @wawahwario it's only a matter of time before our walls are the tvs! :D

  • @wawahwario I would welcome that.

  • @wawahwario shit im bringing my tv everywhere I go if thats possible

  • @wawahwario glue them??? do you still use candles and horse carriages?

  • @markuskentwood Yeah, I live my life a little bit Amish and a little bit modern. You got a problem with that?

  • when im writing this comment the video is 4 years old and it is still no where in sight WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • Just imagine having that on a rear cars window, so who drives behind can watch TV :)

  • Buy PANL Stock, they are at the forefront of OLED, the company is called Universal Display the stock symbol is PANL

  • @lusaka99 they better hurry all that technology up to 2015 so we have flying cars and shoes that tie themselves like in the movie back to the future lol

  • take the screen out of ya phone and it can do that now :L

  • @itzmatt11 LED.

  • 40 dislikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every loser who disliked this is an absolute idiot

this technology is the future of monitors!!!!

  • i can hide dat in my boxers and tell people i have a tv in pants wanna c

  • Thats cool crazy

  • YEAH SONY!!!

  • how is that possible

  • super cool!

  • VR GOGGLES!!!!!!!

  • WHY THE HELL WOULD SOMEONE WANT A FLEXIBLE TV?..SMH NEW DILDOS ARE BEING INVENT

  • its SOOO thin! that's awesome... we're one step closer to harry potter newspapers.

  • @Randios187 magic vs tech! haha.

  • @Randios187 hahahahah so true

  • @Randios187 LOL

  • @Randios187 Oh, we're there. Here it is: /watch?v=srS3Y6Ofhwc

  • @Vyz3r Nice! But I do want to point out that I posted this 8 months ago : P

  • i got an idea use it on a cellphone an flexi phone!

  • @umitbenim cof cof.. nokia morph.. cof cof!

  • Four years later, what's going on? We have flexible batteries, we have flexible PCBs, we have flexible everything..

  • Why would psp2 need it ?

  • @PikolUploader it doesnt, but once they get it going, it will cost less than a normal screen and it doesnt take a battery source, and that was the main problem with the psp2 prototype.

  • Fuckin bastards let this hit the market fo once, it is been 5 years ago!!!!

  • @MrAmicobello that what im talking about

fucking companies they have the technology but they want give us 2030 yes the technology that we will see in 2030 they already have but they don't want until they get their return on the other investment

  • @lusaka99 Not true at all. If a company holds back on selling a new cellphone because they want to make money on their old cellphones, then they are retarded. a different company will sell new ones and drive it into the dirt. Contrary to the beleifs held by retards such as yourself, companies do NOT wish to go bankrupt. The reason this technology is not in production is because it is a PROTOTYPE!!! The cost of producing it is beyond what the average consumer would be willing to spend on it.

  • @jhat2014 companies need to invest equipment and machinery for new technologies. they already invested in led and LCD plasma they have to get back their investment all the companies agree with that. the material needed to produce oled is abundant is not scarce but they have to build plant . I'm accountant dot ever call me retard i hold more knowledge than you do about business.

  • @jhat2014 And something else for you companies already have the technology that will hit in the market in 2020 is in the lab. they already know what they gonna bring 2020 to the market. the technology u see today was discovered in the 1990's . companies need to plan ahead they can give you latest discovered technologies

  • @lusaka99 Before you brag about the "knowledge that you hold," please learn to use proper grammar and to speak english in an intelligent way. Retard.

  • @jhat2014 - Dude - I really need to point out, your use of spelling and grammar, is not superior to 'lusaka99's.

And you are the one being rude, they asked respectfully for you not to address them as a crude name, you repeated it instead, adding unfounded insults. (Unfounded, because their spelling and grammar, is fine, it's not perfect, but no ones is.)

It makes you look like a troll, unless you are a troll (in which case you're just going to insult me) I'd suggest you stop behaving like one.

  • @lusaka99 - Exactly so. There are very few instances of the eight-track, or the dream-cast. (Which COULD have done well, if marketed correctly. Not to say that would have been a good thing, but just to say it could have been the case)

Most companies have just enough capitol, to ensure they get a return on their investment, before continuing on to the next thing.

I think, you have the nail between your thumb and forefinger, for sure.

  • @MrAmicobello Four. L2matts

  • I bet you money that manufacturing these screens will take less time and money yet Sony is going to sell them at a price that is way higher than a standard HD TV. They think just because it's cool, that you can raise the price of the product.

  • @dragonbreathstinks That's the law of supply and demand at work friend

  • @dragonbreathstinks ye.....obviously=/, too bad even though its so easy to make you cant make it so therefore you gotta pay what they want to get it.

  • PSP2 believe

  • @blueballgamer High 5

  • "In Tokyo, this is Master Williams" - WHAT!!? Oh HELL YES! I am going to start putting Master before my first name, damn that! It's sheer EPICNESS!

  • @Melanatedone Martin Williams ... Not master. Although it's a good idea to title yourself master nonetheless.

  • @lordofhjoerring - LOL!! NICE!, then I can keep the credit for that myself... wonder why I heard Master and not Martin. LOL! I accept FULL credit, and I will now place master before my name - lol... hmm.. maybe Lord even.

  • this will take out the need to buy triple monitors for gaming and just one glorious ass reaping wide bzeless monitor , i can't fuckin wait ^_^

  • imagine this thing has an HD camera, then you could just post it in a wall like a sticker and use it to capture things... you know what i mean.Lol I mean, this is a great device for the future

  • This is what PSP2 will comprise of : )

  • @JointKiwi

Amazing, because it just got announced at Andriasang that PSP2 will indeed sport OLED.

  • @KingScar06 But not flexible OLED

  • i can watch DVDs in my maths book!

  • every single comment on these new revolutionary screens are PORN PORN PORN PORN every single video I click! knock it off you horny people! gosh...

  • @korikakumei u make me wanna sexually molest you

  • "Look at me! i can bend a screen" lol

  • look like silicon

  • Very big SHITTT. function only 7.000 h

  • I'm lovin this stuff

  • One day we may have TVs that you can stick on your wall. They may be like this but much bigger. I am sure this would be very expensive at first. I think it would be nice to have a 19" TV or bigger made like this that had some sort of sticky back. Imagine how much easier that would be when arranging furniture or finding room for your tv. It would be just like a large picture on the wall.

  • @InspiredMuse74 one day, very soon in the next 5 years t.v. will be a box you will click it on and the picture will be all around u. No speakers but still amazing sound. I talked to my grandparents about this and they actually tought me something. It already is around. Go and walk through NASA.

  • yeahh great

  • harry potter.... here we come!!!

  • I have a few questions about OLED TVs. When will they come out? Will they come in a variety of sizes (whenever they are released)? Will they be 3D capable? And lastly, will they be better than plasmas? If anyone knows the answer, I would greatly appreciate a response.

And if you want, check out my 65" 3D plasma setup on my channel.

  • @EpiclsME These types of flexible paper thin displays, slated for a late 2011 release date. Also an organic laptop with this kind of display. and yes 3d is available with out the glasses. i forward you the video. and yes they are way better than plasmas. LCD is better than plasma, and this is more environmental and not poisonous, so to speak

  • This is nothing. There is so much technology that is being kept away from the mass right now.If you read about Nicola Tesla you'll understand.Just google that name. You also wanna know about free energy (zero point energy). There is so much information about these things just on youtube. I think that the people in the top of the pyramid have technology that's ca. 100 years more advanced than the technology on the market these days. read and you'll find out why and how.

  • @6thLMNT Yeah, I couldn´t have said it better.. You are soooo right...

  • @6thLMNT

100 years seems a little far fetched. Furthermore, if any country wants a certain device, they five out contracts. Almost anything developed by firms is for the consumer market, that's where the money is. Except maybe weapons research which is primarily government run.

BTW, the existence of zero-point energy is indisputable, but it's use as a source of energy violates the most basic laws of physics. Perpetual mobiles don't exist!

  • @bonham1981 It doesn't seem far fetched at all. When you see how and when Nicola Tesla invented things that are even far fetched for our time, don't you wonder why we aren't using those inventions? Why weren't his inventions being used and developed back then? And i'm not talking about firms that make profit of new things, or the government that is inventing weapons (they sure do). I'm talking about using the inventions of Nicola Tesla for the existence of the earth and human beings.

  • @bonham1981 Continued: The reason why the sponsors of Tesla stopped financing his program, is because they understood that they couldn't make profit with Nicola's invention of free energy. Well, he didn't invent it, but he sure was on his way. And what does free energy actually mean? It means the end of the existence of money. There would be no need of money anymore if everything was made for free, because energy would be free.

  • @bonham1981 Continued: Now that wouldn't be so nice for the money lords. Because if that would happen, their control over everything would be lost. And let's be honest,it's not the governments that run a country these days, it's the people who got money. And there aren't so many people who got real money.I may be wrong, and I really don't count that possibility out, because i am a sceptic.I don't trust anything until i really understand it. And I AM SURE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON!!

  • @6thLMNT

I haven't read anything about Tesla, but energy out of the blue would be magic. I say again: perpetual mobiles don't exist. You cannot harness zero-point energy. It doesn't matter what Tesla wrote, he sure was a very productive man but even the greatest inventors make mistakes and false assumptions.

As with most other secret stuff, someday, someone blows the whistle. A disgruntled employee maybe - which has happened many times in history.

  • @6thLMNT

And of course, free (for common sense's sake 'cheap') energy would totally crumble the economy. On the other hand: the nation, group of people or company which controls this technology would become immensely rich.

I keep my fingers crossed for ITER. That's our best bet. Everything else is pseudoscience.

  • @6thLMNT You clearly are ignorant of the implications of semiconducting polymers, the guys who discovered this material won a Nobel prize >.>

  • @ff8masterc ok, i tried to figure out and understand what these 'semiconducting polymers' are, but i really don't understand it. Can you explain what it is and what it has to do with my point?

  • umm when will this be out on the market? in america....like idk if there going to mass produce it and i sure HOPE so! cause this is awesome!

  • IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO MICROWAVE THIS?

  • "... and it has the disadvantage of being highly infectious, hence it has to be handled with latex gloves"

  • Chuck Norris has OLED mirrors.

  • id rather have a tv thats 4 inchs thick that lasts me 20 years than 1cm thick lasting me 1-2.

  • 160 by 120 PICK-CELLS

  • future tvs will be sheets (11 mm thick)

  • SONY: produces the world's smallest things

  • @felixjetgo: Anyone that takes an OLED screen can make it small and thin. They wouldn't be able to do that if it was LCD or Plasma, OLED is the future. Hell look at Samsungs Galazy S series, look at their phones. They have AMOLED screens well, Super AMOLED but they're thin AND powerful phones. Most powerful phones with LCD screens are usually thicker. But because of OLED, electronics can be so thin.

  • @DarthProlif ikr.. all im saying is that sony makes everything small, try to look at the smallest sony laptop

  • @felixjetgo: The Japanese love making things small.

  • @DarthProlif haha xD

  • does anyone know if this is made of graphene?

  • Made in Taiwan @@ invented from Taiwan

  • o.O *sells ipod *

  • why so surprise? so many other companies have made the same thing. I don't think sony is the first made that. I have seen news from other companies two years ago.

  • @cpthk but not as flexible as this one

  • @cpthk you said this 3 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago is 2010.

this video was posted on 2007, 2 years ago is 2008.

  • at is bad ass a

  • they have to invent a 3D screen that needs no glasses or any other items xD that will kick ass

  • @Nimerbushnaq pretty sure they have that already, I believe theres even a TV network that broadcasts 3 channels in 3D for it. Not completely sure but yea, google it.
