  • - Daddy, so that's how people used to write, with paper and pen, no computers?

    - Yes, son, that's how they did it.

  • How does Youtube know to suggest Beethoven's piece? wow.

  • Love this series. The "But *please* do not let me influence you," at 1:50 reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Vetinari character saying "Don't let me detain you" XD.

  • @viola551 oh my goodness .. He'd be PERFECT for Vetinari .. with a little bit of gre

    y hair ... *shiver*

  • @arul20 I'd been thinking that! The sexiest thing Vetinari does is his lightning smiles, and Brett has a whole repertoire of those XD

  • @arul20 If he was alive, maybe. :( RIP JB

  • Holmes could find bigfoot!

  • "But please, do not let me influence you."

    Peer pressure at its best.

  • Clever ending! LOL! I how Watson is mouthing the titles at the end.

  • *playing violin....screws up*

    "PAH!"

    *Cheeky grin from Watson*

    God, I love this show.

  • J'adore la fin quand Holmes va faire du violon à côté lol et la réaction de Watson qui n'arrive pas à être concentré ^^

  • "Holmes!!"

    "What's wrong?"

    Hahaha!! Love it!!

  • I wouldnt actually mind holmes' violin playing, even though throughout canon watson doesnt appreciate it all the time. he's actually very good : )

idk wtf they did to the Robert Downey Jr version though....

  • @lidlehotti3 Apparently when Holmes is thinking he just plays random, discordant notes. He can play violin perfectly well and indeed in the Study In Scarlet he plays a violin lullaby to Watson to send him to sleep :3

God Watson's writing is huge. He must have a word count of 6 words per line, as opposed to my 12 or 13

  • The ending was just humorous and completely Holmes- he always knows!

  • 1:40 PERFECT! I ADORE JEREMY BRETT!!!!!

  • Each episode a gem.

  • 'oh, n youmean *shows violin* oh, i nderstand)'

    'thanks AWFULLY'

i have to laugh at watson's title 'the brook's street' mystery being shunned ('i guess it will suffice.') by holmes: the portuguese version was called exactly that. :D mind you, the titles are usually translated straight out, but this was one of the ones that the title was different.

  • lol at the way he says "whats wrong"...dear god he's too much awesomeness

  • My Dear

I watched the drama once again, did you notice that ,at the very beginning Holmes, played his fingers as playing the violin in the barber, and it is just Beethovan!

Besides, why did that servent open the door to allowed those Russians enter in?

IT IS NOT LOGIC FOR ME!!!!!!

  • @BlueLarkFly They mentioned he was spending his money at the pub, so he was bribed, probably heavily, to let them inside.

  • A" B" capital composer's violin concerto!

    Very difficult piece!

  • @BlueLarkFly how could I find it on here or itunes?

  • What song is Holmes trying to play?

  • @TheEmporer It's Beethoven's Violin Concerto, 3rd movement, you can find it here on youtube

  • @MrsSherlcokHolmes thanks a bunch

  • Watson wants to work and Holmes is sawing away at the violin. And he has the nerve to act like WATSON'S inconveniencing HIM! LOL

Watson has just been forced to remember Rule #1 when dealing with Sherlock Holmes: Sherlock Holmes is ALWAYS right!

  • I like the change in music here. Holmes is playing quite a sorrowful sounding piece of music while Watson deliberates over the title of the story. As soon as he writes down the title Holmes suggested, the music changes to very upbeat and cheerful. Almost as if Holmes knew what Watson was thinking!

  • Hahahaha, I loved the ending.... while reading the books, I always loved the little domestic introductions Watson would have, where Holmes would be plucking at the violin or just zoning out, curled up in a chair. Maybe it's just Watson 'romanticizing' the cases, as Holmes puts it, but that's 100% ok by me XD Love these two

  • Jeremy is soooo breathtakingly handsome and sexy during this ep! He looks just awesome in his black suit.

My favourite scene is when he says "what's wrong" to Watson....Superb acting!

  • I think David Burke made a much better Watson than Edward Hardwicke. He has a lot more expressive face than ol' Ed.

  • @jamiewithers Oh, I don't know, I like them both... David Burke is certainly the more energetic Watson, but then again, his Watson is younger than Hardwicke's as his is after The Great Hiatus and al the stresses of supposedly losing Holmes and the years ahead... and Hardwicke, I always felt, was the more kindly Dr. Watson to others of the two- both had their strongpoints...

  • Heh heh

  • 2:39

    Ha

  • "Well I myself would prefer the Resident Patient . . . but PLEASE do not let me influence you." LOL

  • The look ... so dashing !

  • Wow and with all that paranoia Sutton never thought to get a better door and lock for his bedroom. Or to just load up his chest of vaulables and leave town.

  • Did anyone notice the shapes of the T's when watson was writing the titles? The first was different from the next 2.

  • Yes, but he probably wrote the first title carefully, and obviously more slowly. The word 'Street' is exactly the same.

  • indeed it is - thank you! I'm off to download at once!

  • Does anyone know the exact song Holmes plays to end the episode? I want to download it but can't find exactly what it is...

  • I think it could be from a symphony by Haydn

  • It's Beethoven's violin concerto, 3rd movement

  • In the first part of this episode Holmes says exactly what it is "...third movement of Beethoven's violin concerto..." The detail description would be I think "Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61"

  • Just check out Watson's expression when Holmes says The Resident Patient... XD

  • Jeremy Brett is the best.

  • Haha, funny ending. I love Jeremy Brett.

  • i LOVED the subtile way of superimposing the violin playing and Watson's choice of titles!! As one gets more euphonic, the other gets better... And it was one of the best adaptations among the series, I think.

  • LOL, Holmes just goes and plays in the next room. Haha, to all the practicing musicians who hasn't done that. cough

I love how Jeremy Bretty rolls his 'r's. Uber-sexy

  • Apparently Jeremy Brett in his younger days had a speech defect that prevented him from pronouncing "r" correctly - he overcame it through therapy and assiduous practice. Guess he tended to overcompensate as a result!

  • @Theta101 i truly hope you're not a guy

  • holmes made mistakes on the violin until watson wrote the resident patient hehe

  • "HOLMES!" I love Watson's annoyance at Holmes's violin playing, haha!

  • thnx a lot... videos were great....

    livestrong!!

    "dont let me influence you"

    cool statement... :)

  • I love this part because, it is so funny when Holmes shot Watson with that look of unapproval on his face. He also plays a catchy tune on the violin.

  • I love how he says: "What's wrong?" haha one of the BEST!

  • Brilliant. Hilarious that Holmes heard Watson groaning because he knew his title sounded better then to toss in that little smug laugh.

    I really liked this one!
