  • This is one of m favorite movies when i was child but it really makes me cry in the end, cause it reminds me how things were back then. Now it's just facebook, twittter, and 24/7 talkshows/news in your face anymore, i just miss the days when everyone was forced to see people in person not on the antisocial media sites all the time... =/

  • i havnt seen this movie in a bout 8 yearfs its still so good:) xxx

  • WE could use the missing segments

  • Love it!! Haven't seen this since 86 when I was a little boy ;) omg how it brought me back:) thank you sooo much for putting this movie up

  • Amazing movie. Thanks so much for up loading this

  • brings back memories

  • Pity the actor ended up the way he did. Great film from when i was a kid tho :-)

  • Thank you so much for this movie...such a great movie and like many of us I have seen it so many times but love introducing this to my boyfriend who hasnt seen it.

  • Ive seen this movie more times than I could count. Absolutely amazing film that I will show my kids someday.

  • @RKVersion1 , Love this film, one of my childhood favourites,i showed it to my kids (5,9 and 11) last week and they really loved it!

Yes it's a little dated , but the brilliant story carries it through.

    x

  • Probably the greatest end credit sequence ever. Incredible and the music fits perfectly!

  • great movie !!!

  • Wait a sec David Freeman?

Does this mean this kid is an ancestor of the great Gordon Freeman?

  • omg i miss old movies like this and being a kid, the best

  • This is absolutely one of the best Disney movies ever!!!!!!My most favorite quote is from Max to David..."I don't leak,YOU leak,remember?"...LOL!!!Fantastic movie that i never get tired of seeing...thank you for posting :-)

  • thanks for posting havent seen this in years

  • Thanks for uploading... It gives back from my childhood favorite movies...

  • thanks to youtube ive been able to relive some of my fav movies and others ive missed. I echo PeachCatHill..god bless youtube!

  • Priceless memories! Thanks for uploading.

  • So the alien was really Pee-Wee Herman all along!

  • @PercyShaw81 I remembered that laugh anywhere as pee-wee Herman :-)

  • Thank you, for helping me remember my childhood.

  • Would those scientsts really take David against his will? I mean earlier on the move he went with them to have tests done but that was because he chose to.

  • Wow this compliance movie brings bak super memories

  • Compliance!

  • Movies like this make me go hug my family and tell them I love them Its a powerful message, appreciate those around you.

  • Great movie. Scientifically speaking though, backward time travel is physically impossible. An unending causality loop would be created which would destroy space-time. How do I know this? Because Dr. Hawking says so, and Dr. Hawking is GOD...

    (struck by lightning)

Truth is, who knows for absolutely sure? But FOTN is still one of the best kids movies (albeit with some foul language) from the '80s, and Disney is making a huge mistake, same as with "Witch Mountain", in remaking it.

  • @seattletenor

not if a alternate reality is created for every possible scenario there is, including all back time travels.

  • David says he wishes he could take the alien home w/ him. It turns out he does.

  • The ending to this is similar to the ending of Jumanji.

  • Thanks very much for uploading this :D

  • awesome movie! I still remember watching it on the disney channel when it premiered.....

  • A great movie that was created by walt disney in 1986.

  • One of the best time traveling movies I've Seen In A Really Long TIme.

  • I saw this movie when I was a little kid, and it's still one of my favorite movies ever. At 2:30 is a surprisingly epic scene for a kids' movie. It really does give you a sense that you don't know what is going to happen to David. He fully realizes how dangerous it could be, but he still just wants to go back home and he is willing to take whatever risk there is. The way the music suddenly becomes darker and how the clouds change is so cool. And even now the special effects look cool.

  • Thanks for this. Really enjoyed seeing it again after all these years.

  • Great memories, one i always enjoyed.

  • ok to those who werent children in the 80s. what stands out about these magical films like this movie, the goonies, a never ending story, cocoon, and a million others i can name is that..... in the 80s everyone was dreaming big about the stars, imagination was at its height. it transcended into the early to mid 90s, but somewhere since the late 90s the dream is gone. i don't know why it's happened, but i do know i am grateful to have seen these times. now i wanna die cause the world is dead

  • @datura1983 i agree with you....... not about wanting to die though :P

    80's!!!!!!1 FTW!!!!!!

  • The cloud scene at 1:35 is really cool and AWESOME! Imagine flying through that, haha :)

  • i dont care what anyone says it was a fucking dream

  • Brought back happy childhood memory's!! Thank you so much!!

  • this movie is classic and iconic, leave it hollywood to remake it. Gonna murder yet another classic 80's movie.

  • the ship is so pretty and shiny on the inside

  • Thanks...........

  • I came.

  • Hyvä leffa :D Tätä on etsitty.

  • thank you matt484991:)

  • There's plans on a remake of this movie since 2009. Hopefully they will start filming the new one soon.

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...YOU MADE MY INNER CHILD SOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish a spaceship can pick me up and bring me back to the '80s... :-(

  • @TitoTheThird you never know it might just happen

  • @TitoTheThird I know right! I would be able to do so many things differently and made different choices then maybe my life would be a lot better. But I guess we just got to move forward.

  • @TitoTheThird I so agree! The 80s was the Earth's golden decade! I wish I could have the same wish you do!

  • I love a happy ending

  • Brilliant. I often wonder what a sequel would be like.....

  • Never knew why he didn't tell his family! I mean if you have an alien in your backpack I don't think they are going to think you are crazy.

  • same here. siko21 same here. I miss those days too.

  • Good movie!!!! See you later ALi-GAtor!!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS!!!!!!

  • i love that movie seen it years ago it was a good movie gott to buy it on d.v.d

  • you suck asshole that movie rocks

  • fuck yeah...yes indeed the best movie ever...,love it!...i dont know why there is 3 dislike...unbeliveable..

  • I also agree, I'm 31 and it sucks :(

  • Maaaaan I miss my childhood!!! They don't make movies like they use to!

  • God bless youtube

  • gas station attendant - rusty pouch

    wow...what an unfortunate name...

  • thank you, you took me back to a happy place when films were amazing

  • i have been to outerspace and back without the comforts of the space shuttle it was the most fun i have ever had with an alien than with a human being

  • Totally loving the 80s music at the end of the film. Takes me back to the good old days.... :-)

  • It has good morals this film, not like the shite that comes out nowadays!

  • Great movie, but i really wanted to see the boy get the girl.

  • awwww great fukin movie! I just had to show my children!

  • "trapped in my mind" is not twisated sister! it was sourced/and/or performed by Steve tyrell, listed in credits, secong song in left column @9:07 . recorded and published BMI under Tyrell-Mann MusicCorp. but not finding any existing tracks out there.

thanks again matt for the awesome ride!

  • Thanxs!!!

  • I wanted a Puckmaren more than a Mogwai.

  • captures the childhood dream of adventure like nothing else, when the world was just that bit more innocent back in the mid 80's. Many peoples childhood captured in film, thanks matt!

  • Thanks to matt484991 for taking the trouble of uploading this. I really enjoyed watching it. Much gratitude.

  • Now that's a blast from the past! Great film. It stills stands up pretty well, even after 25 years or so. Actually, that's probably just the nostalgia in me talking. Brings back so many memories. I used to watch this film over and over as a child, back in the days of VHS, until the tape wore out.

  • This a great movie i have never seen it before i really enjoyed it.

  • i still think this film is awesome the atmosphere isnt like a kids film

  • Awww! Im in grade five and my class is watching this for music, and we dont even care about the bad words. It was verry interesting though.

  • savage film luv it cud watch it ovr and ovr god they dont make films like this nomore and its even better than E.T. im always goin to be an 80's baby.like top class shit frm then like tink about it.

  • David: Max? Will I ever see you again?

    Max: . . . I don't know . . . we must start the journey . . . Hold on tight Davey.

    David: I'm gonna miss you.

Max: I'm gonna miss you too, Thanks.

David: No big deal, really. Come on let's get out of here.

    Max: Compliance, Navigator. Good luck.

*sighs* that part gets to me :( .... *tear drop*

  • @darkstealthrider

that part chokes me up too and is soo sweet

  • @FlashDance002 Yes it is :)

  • This movie has to have some of the best closing credits I've seen in a movie. God, that music really takes me back.

  • Thankyou so much!!!! Favorite Movie!!!

  • Such a shit, yet absolutely awesome movie :D

  • Thanks for the upload. Great movie.

  • I love this Movie Better then E.T.

  • I loved this movie as a kid. Why are they trying to do a remake of it? Hollywood needs to stop screwing up classic movies.

  • That traveling back in time bit with the flashing between views used to scare me as a kid.

  • I want to be a kid again

  • great plot.

  • thank you very much for posting this video...:) i really love this video so much... thank you again!....

  • I'll never forget those end credits... so nostalgic

  • @Bokken2006 Yeah I love them!!!!!!!

  • love the song at end!!:D

  • Foolish child! You had a vessel to explore the cosmos and a passport to the dimension of time and you chose to stay in the 1970's with a state full of Jews. Idiot!

  • they need to make more kids movies like this.

  • So this is where my fear of time travel came from, all the Future shock and the terrifying travel back in time scene. When your four years old and watch movies like this you end up with weird phobias.

  • i like how he says "good luck" and kind of nods his head

  • The ending gave me goosebumps. Such an awesome kid's movie!! :)

  • It's only a matter of time before Hollywood remakes this... probably with Will Smith's son.

  • @McSuperfly101 ROFLMAO

  • Ahhh childhood....I want you back!

  • The memories came flooding back in an instant. Thanks so much for putting this up!

  • You know I can sit through this movie again and again (im 28 years old), yet when i try to sit through a modern kids movie with my daughter I cant get half way through... wonder why that is.

  • Seeing race to witch mountain the remake of this will most likely be rubbish, Disney employ a good director I.e someone like JJ abrams ,Spielberg, And employ real Actors people who have studied ACTING like (Shakespeare) Other wise you wind up with SKYLINE lol

  • ATTENTION EVERYONE: THEY ARE REMAKING 'FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR' THIS YEAR.

  • @JoeMikeGent I would, but disney is too cheap to do this in blu ray!!!

  • Thanks Matt, I appreciate it, and the Rocketeer!

  • God damn I got this good feeling inside of me.....brought me back to the good old days when I didnt pay bills and life was good....nowadays it's bullshit everywhere u turn....

  • @siko21 Never has a line on youtube resonated so much with me.

  • @siko21 Quote all of it :)

  • @siko21 Thats the old classic Disney buzz. from a time when movies were actually interesting and the music was oh so sweet!

  • @siko21 it's amazing how fast we grow up to. The first time we really know who we are, we must be like 5 or so

  • @siko21 I can definitely relate to that mate. That's exactly how I feel, it's a dark age I tell ya, adulthood sucks ass.

  • @siko21 Yep, where being a kid you didn't have too many responsibilities. Now entertainment is so messed up.

  • Such a classic awesome movie! i grew up with this movie. me and my mom love it! we couldnt get enough of max and his silliness.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!

  • When that little alien appears in David's knapsack and of course when you hear and see Max fly across the sky, it definitely proves that David's adventure was NOT dream.

Maybe David, should try to track down Carolyn or at least go to the base when 1986 comes since he knows that she'll like him.

It might have also been good if he bumped into a cute 12 year old girl walk when he returned and asked her what her name is and she'd smile and say,"Carolyn McAdams."

  • Paul Mall?!?

  • @Maxalicious pee wee herman, paul reubens prior name

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE ..........CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

  • Thanks for posting, i never saw the last half hour of the movieas a kid at the drive-in, i fell asleep.

  • I want to go 8 years into the future, which would be 2019...and never come back.

Would this message still be here on YouTube in 2019??...

I will miss all you guys, now I'm departing!... so long.

  • Ah come on.....Max even says "See ya later navigator!" Where's the damn sequel? We don't need a remake.

  • David's brother is a troll..

  • cute movie

  • thanx for taking me back man.. i haven't seen this in years!!

  • its like nerf football crossed with a cashew lol

  • glad u uploaded this, i awlays remember this movie glad i found it

  • Good going Davey, you just created another alternative timeline in 1986.

  • @RacerXGTO i hate time travel movies. If 1986 has now changed, he'll never be able to get back to 1978.. which means that in order for this whole thing to have happened and for him to be in 1978 NOW, the universe would have to collapse out of existence.

(That's the abridged version but think about it and you'll see what i mean..)

  • @groovylocks A time travel paradox occurs if he messes up the future and travels back. In order to fix it, he must return to the exact point in time he disappeared without impacting anything or anyone around him.

  • @groovylocks I don't know what you're talking about. If 1986 has changed why does that mean he can't get back to his time. I don't understand what you mean by the universe collapsing out of existence.

  • I love this film. I always admire the design of the chrome airship. Thank You for uploading this film. It brings me back to my childhood.

  • I love this film so much. The shiny, perfect condition vehicles and buildings, and obviously the chrome ship definitely give this film a very special feel. If this was released on Blu Ray it would really smooth out the visuals, removing any analogue graininess, making this fim even better!

  • so much stuff was happening in my life when i first seen this movie that it made me wanna die but watching it completely made me wanna live again and have hope cause i was 5 years old im ever so greatful for the people that made and played in the movie thank you who ever you are with all my heart thank you so very much

  • Good thing those cheap government bastards didn't give him new clothes so when he climbed into the ship he was wearing exactly what he had on when he first left.

  • COMPLIANT...Navigator

  • SYNTH TOMS!!! awesome! 80s music still rocks!

  • the scene where thay fly in between two membrane dimensions is quite cool 2:50

  • As as I kid, I always dreamt of living in Florida after watching this. Now I'm an adult, I still dream of living there. Bah.

  • thanx a lot!!! loved this film as a kid and came across it tonight. wow a film that actually has a story. don't get many of them now

  • No chavs in the 80's either

  • The song in the closing credits could not be more eighties...LOLL...Love it....Miss that decade so much....easier times, safer times, just plain more fun times!!!!

  • every kid in the 80s wanted their own space ship, complete with sassy alien navigator

  • @PhilM662 you are right we all did.....

  • 01:50 to 02:25 makes me cry :(

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for putting this on here. one of the greatest films ever.

  • I remember watching this in the cinema in 86. Brilliant movie.

  • doesnt the part about David wanting 2 go back to 1978 but risk being vaporized and leaving his family in 1986 and missing Max make one choke up and David taking the risk.David really want his family but feels left out but likes that he made friend and went on a mission

  • Pretty tight, check out "The Dirtbike Kid" its another pretty good one.

  • David has just created 2 versions if the

1978-1986 timeline, the one where he lived out his life from 78 and the one when

He disappears and leaves 1986 for good

I'd like to see both versions :-) great film of the 80s, i cant believe theyre remaking it

I love SJP she has come along way and has earned her strips

  • I Love this film

  • :24 someone's cold!! nippies!!!

  • And then David meets young Carolyn McAdams, they grow up together, fall in love, and live happily ever after.

  • out of all the voices in the world!???....why does the ship sound like PEE WEE HERMAN? real good movie though!

  • @MrOce123 because it is!

  • David - "Mom? I love you"

Mom - "Why thank you sweet heart"

    that shits messed up dude

  • @ericengelberg I think its a natural response

  • "He said he wanted to phone home." Kuh-Classic!!

  • And because of david's selfish decision to go home, humanity continues to struggle with itself and will never learn of light speed travel, or super high tech stuff. great...

  • Thanks for posting this movie. Its been about 10 years since i last watched this movie.

  • I would like to see more about the origins of the ship and its creators... that would make an awsome movie

  • Thankyou so much brings back great memories!!!!!

  • i love this film i have it on video have had since i was about 8 years old always watched it
