  • you should be proud to be Deaf. you cant even Sign true ASL. this is sad.

  • @melinda4christ with a name like melinda4christ, that sounds a bit judgemental... I thought you Christians were all about being non judgemental.

  • What's happen your face from Cochlear Implant effect?

  • You are awesum 

  • @gooberboy98 srry meant to vote up for ur comment and dwn for the jerks above u

  • question: 1: did you hear the sounds when you walk thru the security door at the malls.? 2: have you think if you have heart problem or heart attack, Can they use AED (automatic external defibrillator) to save you or will it sparks to strike to your magnet. like Pacemaker? 3. If you break the law with resistance with the cop. Will they taser to you ? will you be alive while you are on Ci magnet inside your brain?

  • Its kinda weird that you cannot sign 2 months correctly, also that your voice is super good. Especially for you having been completely deaf. lol

  • Wow, it is amazing how fluent your speaking is

  • :D im deaf too and i had cochlear implant for 9 years (i changed hearing aid to cochlear implant so yeh :D)

  • I, too, speak slower when I sign and talk at the same time. I only started learning ASL in my senior year of high school (I graduated in 2005) and I haven't had much chance since then to communicate with others who know sign.

  • @TheGiapa -- some hearing-people (like me) choose to learn ASL in order to communicate with people who are different from us... maybe some deaf-people choose to get Cochlear Implants in order to communicate with people who are different from them. We are all ready completely dependent on machines for life (cars, computers, electricity, farm equipment etc) so how is CI any different? Some Deaf people now have a choice to hear or not, so let people choose what is right for them, either way.

  • @HapahaoleBLUES its funny how you mention that. i'll tell you a story that i have heard. few years ago a deaf college student was riding his bike and then he got hit by a car and got killed b/c he couldn't hear the car coming nor the horn. so was it smart for him to choose that path rather not give the opportunity to hear in the real world? similar stories like this, this is why there should be a law for all deaf/hoh students to wear CI/hearing aids.

  • @whitesoxrules I DON'T agree that there should be a law for ALL deaf/hoh people to wear a CI/HA. First of all not many of us has the money or the insurance to afford either CI/HA, but also it shouldn't be forced on those who may just be happy the way we are.

  • @ladysolitary85 Just for your knowledge, Wisconsin became the first state in the nation that passed the CI/HA bill to allow all of the insurances to cover these expenses so this will be easier for the parents! Surprisely, more states are going to follow this approach!

I don't mean to sound ignorant but I'm telling you the truth... Deaf Culture is already shrinking! Everyone knows that! Esp. the people who are deaf supporters but they don't want to show their admission of guilt!

  • @whitesoxrules I don't believe that for a second. Just because you can't see them around as much doesn't mean the deaf are not there.

I do however, agree with insurance companies allowing that option covered if the person chooses. More should be doing that.

  • @whitesoxrules This is a major operation that can not be forced on anyone. I have both sides implanted and think it was the best decision that I ever made, but it isn't for everyone. What if I found a story where someones hearing caused a reaction that resulted in death? You can't use something like that to make judgment on what someone else should do.

  • my best friend is getting these im so worried about it!. im glad your doing ok

  • im 15 i was born deaf and i realy want cochlear implant because many people say they can hear i dont mind my deaf because i have never heard sound but maybe one day i want to hear can you send message tell me more about it how it feel when you get first time maybe it hurt?

  • my friend got this and it is a true miracle this invention, good for you ThunderShyne GBU

  • To TheGiapa: I am not sure the reason beyond your opinion against CI. You said you are studying italian sign language, you might be scared not to find a job or what ever reson which i really do not care. it is really stupid to say because she knows how to use the sign language she doesn't need Ci. Ci is just like other things that help people, like glasses to see well( it s stupid to say, if you want to see better get closer to object, why using glasses!),who is agree with me?

  • Having a problem with CI's is like having a problem with correcting your vision with glasses, or having a problem with an amputee getting a prosthetic leg.

The CI is just another corrective prosthetic. It doesnt not make you a different person, and to believe it does highlights any insecurities a deaf person might have.

  • I think the Cochlear Implant it's a wrong way to ''live'', now you're depending by a machine! I can watch you using the American Sign Language very well! Why did you choose the implant?

I'm an italian girl. I'm studying the Italian sign language and I totally reject the Cochlear Implant.

Be deaf is not a deseas, but only another way of living. People mustn't think on Implant, just learn the ASL or other sign languages!!!

    (Sorry for my English)

  • @TheGiapa Can you honestly hate someone for wanting to hear the wonderful sounds of the world? The Cochlear Implant goes beyond giving someone the ability to hear speech and ultimately learn to speak but allows them to experience the world as it should be, full of wonderful sounds.

  • @TheGiapa It was her choice. Everybody is different. No one should tell you wat to do, and no one should tell ThunderShyne either.

  • Thanks for sharing your story! Hope everything is still going well!

  • Very nice video.

I have a cochlea implant, too. You are speaking very good, so i can understand you fine.

Sorry for my english, i'm German.

    Thomas

  • A beautiful story, beautifully told! God Bless you!

  • congratulations dear! what a story.

  • Thank you for sharing about your story! Do you have usher syndrome or not? You can check my vlog with ASL for my CI.

  • Great story. My twin and I are deafblind but have some residual hearing and vision. We use both Braille and ASL to communicate as well as speaking. We have a 85-90db loss and hope to not loose anymore since we compose music. Finding out how to get hearing aids to work with studio equipment is hard but possible LOL.

Thank you for your interesting story..

  • Very interesting story!

  • Hmm, Interesting, so that means you could hear before right? Glad it's working out for you.
