nothing significant happens until Krall starts C-jam blues and then into her FANTASTIC performance with excellent backing by guitar and bass. I like her early work much better than the later stuff. She was still young and FULL of energy. Then she went "commercial" -- kind of lost that strong jazz feel. Her BEST album was "All For You"....
Man, Russell is a master. he can really wail. the fact that he can play down home blues like that, and play jazz and swing makes him especially excellent. not too many musicians can say they can do all three of those things. he is a great versatile musician who isn't stuck in either the jazz rut or the blues rut. two words: Yes, Russell!!!
I know 20 guitar player's that can do it too..... but how many do you know that get the call to play with ANYBODY on the Montreal Jazz Festival Ticket.?????
Even at 3:00 the Bass player is yawning and falling asleep -Stick to the BASICS of the classic song. Nat king Cole is probably Throwing down stones from heaven
@eternalcolonel "Guitar player (even great ones) are a dime a dozen.
Playing dopey blues riffs; while attractive to dimwitted audiences,
is tacky..."
folks like you on youtube (prolly jealous cuz you ain't the one up there playing like Russell are a dime a dozen). lol. what are you doing, can you get on stage like him and please an audience and play for Diana Krall?
No matter how good you think you are, if the audience don't like you, who cares.
One of the best guitar solos I've ever heard!!

@SpandexMask I hear Ms Krall is looking for a new MD - sounds like it's tailor-made for you.... With eternalcolonel as your side-kick.
