McCain on a Flat-tax System

McCain supports megacorporations, and MCs would get RAPED with a flat tax system. That means less money in their pockets, so bye bye yacht, bye bye billion dollar jet, bye bye island paradise, bye bye POWER. They aren't going to want to let it go, which is why I hope this goes through, but given the influence MCs have on our government, I highly doubt it will.

John McCain will favor any kind of income tax because the only thing cares about is keeping the people in check rather than the other around. Politicians like McCain love big government and big business and unlimited deficit spending and income taxes are what make it all possible. He doesn't like the Fair Tax because it empowers us to retain our wealth and to keep weasels like him in check, or in retirement.

I was going the say the exact same thing. The poor and the elderly would carry more of the burden than they do under our current tax system. Not to mention a flat tax is more reliable because revenues won't go down in a recession.

This is why the FairTax has the prebate.

No one pays the FairTax up to the poverty level.

Poor can live tax free and the elderly on fixed incomes also receive much needed tax relief.

FairTax replaces the current tax system so they either pay the embedded taxes on top of the current taxes or just pay the FairTax.

Read the bill, there is much to be learned.

McCain obviously has no idea what he is talking about. He states the FairTax as an exclusive tax which it IS NOT. It is inclusive.

Politicians just have a hard time swallowing the fact they will have to start paying taxes on every purchase they make just like everybody else. Say goodbye to subsidies and lobbyists. We won't need them anymore.

Yes, this should be re-labeled to reflect the FairTax. McCain is clearly not fully educated on the FairTax. He supports his argument solely with a reference to an article that full of provable fallacies. As for the flat tax, we had a flat tax 94 years ago. Look where we are now. Congress "fix the tax code"? Ha! They've tried to "fix" it numerous times and now we have thousands upon thousands of pages of undecipherable code easily exploited by politicians and lobbyists.

bacon is right, this question dealt with a national retail sales tax which is a fair tax. Flat tax is just that a flat tax on income, not sales. and btw McCain dropped the ball on this one the fair tax is the only way to go.
