When someone say "you just lost yourself a customer", I couldn't care less about him/her coming back. The less people I have to deal with attitude like that, the better. Also, I don't believe it for a second a person like that would not come back to Wal-Mart.
Thank you Jeremy, this video is spot on. I worked retail for six years, mostly at Target. Your thoughts in this video are so redeeming to hear. People are belligerent animals. Most have no sense whatsoever when shopping. I had many middle aged mothers of two yell and swear at me because they were one day late for a sale on Wii games... Now I have a career as an artist and will never have to go back to that retail hell!
I participated in Black Friday once. I didn't wake up too early because by the time I woke up, my aunt had already bought an HD TV and the only real problem I had at the stores was the long lines. It was the perfect middle spot because you don't get attacked, but you still get feel a little bit of shame for participating. After that, I don't see the point in waking up early for some stupid sales.

Whenever caught in an arguement with a customer who is irrate because you don't have his item don't argue. Your boss (SHOULD) always back you up because that 1 customer isn't going to exclude your store he just wants to make you feel bad. Also get a supervisor or at least someone higher up on the food chain. (Full time > part time) because a full time employee should have the skills needed to end this confrontation peacefully (or at least not violently) and why the f___ did I bother saying that?

This is one of the main reasons why I hated the retail/grocery jobs I've had. Everyone jumps on you if you don't have the item they want in the back room. The holidays are the worst, because EVERYONE waits until the last second to get what they want, and when they find out it isn't in stock because a million other people have done the same thing, they freak.
Anyone working in retail knows the bs that goes on during the holidays(especially days like Black Friday), it's a nightmare.

what you explained in this video, are the exact same reasons why i sleep in and never touch a store on black friday untill like 3 in the afternoon, and chances are i usually end up getting one of the last items left and its what i wanted. lol go figure.

customers are fuckin stupid...every so often you get that customer who is actually more intelligent than the employee, but that does not happen very often. most people think that when they walk into a store they can automatically turn into little spoiled brats who bitch and complain if they don't get their way...or if they can't get something because its not in stock. and btw...parents, if you're kid is being a screaming crying twerp...leave the kid at home. the employees are not your babysitter

went to black friday with my mother-in-law. wasnt there to buy a thing but i tell you what...It was the best! I have never seen so many bitchy old ladies. standing back and watching the elbows flowing and cat fighting is better than watching ultimate fighting. cant wait till 2010!!

This is one of the main reasons why I hated the retail/grocery jobs I've had. Everyone jumps on you if you don't have the item they want in the back room. The holidays are the worst, because EVERYONE waits until the last second to get what they want, and when they find out it isn't in stock because a million other people have done the same thing, they freak.
Anyone working in retail knows the bs that goes on during the holidays(especially days like Black Friday), it's a nightmare.

So true people need to get their priorities in order. It is so worldy of them to waste their thanksgiving waiting in line to "probably" be that #5. To save what? a hundred bucks? Family is so much more important than any item that they can throw at you on sale. I wish we could just go back to the days when this season was about family and being together and just being grateful for having eachother. Nope, its a consumer driven world and i am not a material girl.

Dude, I worked in retail for almost 10 years (for Wal-Mart, in Missouri), and Chet's portrayal of the disgruntled Black Friday shopper brought back some horrific memories. 5 stars for reopening old wounds and providing me with 'Nam-esque flashbacks. I'm gonna go cry on some left over turkey now.

damn dude, this video had me almost in tears laughing so hard. I worked retail for a while and you nailed it. That tv thats on sale marked down 1000 bucks, guess what, thats still above cost. Companies mark up prices so these sales can look appealing. It's all a big joke. Also here in NY some dude died cuz assholes ran in and trampled.These stores can use tickets if they want people to get there early. Instead they choose to create a frenzy. Assholes. total assholes. I order everything online.

Yeah, I worked retail at a point, so I sympathize with retail employees. Tomorrow; all the worst traits about people will come out 10 fold. It's circular reasoning; Stores have Black Friday sales because people go, people go because stores have black friday sales. Black Friday is like if Hell had a kid with chaos while having an affair with greed, and then had a child called lack of impulse control. If only people realized that if they didn't go; the chaos would stop.
