Paul only did it 'cause he cares a lot about musical innovation. He has always made a big deal about trying out new sounds. Plus, it gives him yet another version of the song to add to the 3000 + recorded already ("Yesterday" is the most recorded song in history). So, yeah, he IS a genius.

The harmony was way off and just in poor taste. The thing is that the song is very tuneful, and he didn't harmonize it the way he should have, because the main tune is the one that needs to come out, not the harmony. I could barely hear Paul when the other guy started singing. His harmony was way too loud, and didn't allow for the melody to be heard right. Just awful. I mean, Paul was as amazing as always, but the other guys ruined everything.
