Jimmy Stewart, patriot and outstanding actor. This nonsense about him being a racist reminds me of those 9-11 conspiracy theories. A lot of accusation but no proof.
IN REAL LIFE, JIMMY STEWART WAS A BRIGADIER GENERAL IN THE AIR FORCE RESERVES!!! NOT ONLY THAT, ED MCMAHON(JOHNNY CARSON TONIGHT SHOW), WAS ALSO A BRIGADIER GENERAL IN THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD!!!!
This episode was actually telecast in either season 3 and season 4.
And speaking of guest stars that were on My Three Sons.....
Jimmy Stewart was one of them. The others were Angus Moorehead and Van Heflin. I'm surprised that one of Fred MacMurray's closest friends Henry Fonda didn't make a cameo apperance on the show. Or Barbara Stanwyck for that manner.
Jimmy Stewart fought, as did so many others, for the right of all to speak their minds. You needn't agree with him. But do make an effort to appreciate him and the sacrifices he made. The Peter Firths of the world can continue their shallow mud-slinging but it doesn't amount to anything. If I had to choose between the two - no contest. Jimmy Stewart anytime. My father fought the same war. God bless him and all the others who sacrificed so much. Good luck to everyone!

Best to just ignore idiots like "PeterFirthFan". Jimmy Stewart was a great actor and fine human being. The left wing wackos like "Peter" just hate him because he was an anti-Communist.
I want to know who wasn't a racist then. I am a Black woman born in (hold your breath) 1951! So, trust me, I've had my share of racist remarks from everyone. Look at all the new racist we have now taking advatage of my ancestors blood sweat and tears! But I thought this was a forum to comment on the shows we're watching and how they relate to some of us today! My comment? I loved watching My Three Sons! A great piece of nostalgia for me! The new racists? Mexicans, Dominicans etc.
A lot of them are classics so most people don't agree with you. What did James do to you ? Run over your tricylcle ? You seem absessed with your hate of him and his films.
I did some research into if Jimmy Stewart was a racist. Can't find any evidence. During the filming of a movie an actor used the n word. James rushed to him and grabbed him by the shirt and told him to never use that word around him. He also said the only reason he won't bust the guy up was many expensive shots had been filmed and he didn't want to have the expence of reshooting them with an unbroken up actor.
No I got it from Hal Williams himself. It is also confirmed by Hal Kanter, Lucille Gipson, Leonard Gershe and many others. Aside from being a talentless overacting one-note personality, Stewart was also an eveil racist just like his close friend John Wayne.
I guess none of us are perfect then. When I read your comment to me ( the first one ) I goggled to see what you were talhing about. Majority of people were saying that the man is long dead and can't defend himself from things said about him in the 90s and beyond. I agree with that. Maybe James was flawed, but I don't see him as evil as you say. Watch some KKK and Springer vids here on UT and you will see real evil racists.
By you calling him talentless overacting one note I have to assume you are bias. You don;t like the man or the work he did. If you left out all of that I might have considered your opinion.
Yes, a truly great seafaring epic, Brando was certainly much better than a far too old Trevor Howard. Stewart certainly couldn't play Europeans, it's laughable imagining the talentless racist in The Godfather or The Nightcomers.
Howard was FAR too old to play Bligh. The real Bligh was only 33 when they set sail, Howard was nearly 50 and looked much older. In real life Howard was a homosexual and an alcoholic.

Hope you didn.t put your arm out waving that flag George Washington. Time certainly were not the same from ww2 to the Vietnam era of course with your head up your ass you would not realize this .stewart was like any other hawk I don't care how many fucking missions he flewe, he was stuck in his era and like you, not too clever!
My dad knew Gen. Stewart quite well back in his USAF Reserve days. He was an excellent human being. There are many who may say different but if you never served with him, or knew him personally, then any comment to the contrary is pure crap. He was a true hero in every sense of the word. Anyone who can do 25 missions in a B-24, risking flak and fighters is a better man than many who make cracks about him. At least he took a man's risk for something worthwhile: our freedom!
This episode, aired in March of 1963 was a very special episode guest starring James Stewart. Stewart was asked be to a guest star courtesy of its star Fred MacMurray.

Actually that story is from Michael Munn's made-up "biography". I suggest you read what the racist Stewart did to poor black actor Hal Williams.
