  • There in lies the reason you kiddies didn't get tha Pokemon for Christmas at Walmart that year.....

  • I drive these cranes and its a scary thought seeing them come down...

  • thx for messing MAERSK

  • At 2:03 and on, it sounds like the guy in the song keeps saying "penis"?!

  • the music is the real accident BARF

  • this happend in my port of southampton a yr ago then we had had another once a yr by that

  • WTF WITH THE MUSIC

  • Hey 554283, You are right !!!!

  • ......Dang Toggle Bolts...!!!!!

  • Wow. Anyone knows the claim finally ? Loss of vessel, container, cargo, repairing, time consuming ... There must be many many works need to do afterward. Thanks to who build this shit....

  • Run a crane 24/7 in salt water conditions and yeah you get metal fatigue... Probably lack of maintenance and safety inspections...

  • 5554283,

salt water environment does cause alot of problems, mainly corrosion. Metal fatigue is another matter which is a result of progressive fracturing of a metal by means of a crack which spreads under repeated cycles of stress.

  • @islandcerts

Corrision gives the metal an area of weakness, which will result in a crack and propagate the area of stress. Hence the metal fatigue... Its got to start somewhere by something ie the salt water

  • @5554283

Sorry, but you do not understand the definition of metal fatigue. Of course if you have metal loss from corrosion the base metal will lose strength and at high stress areas a crack may start. This is not metal fatigue. I agree metal loss may accelerate fatigue but not cause it.

  • @islandcerts

When a crane is ran none stop like at a shipping port, and is subject to salt water corrosion then it will start to fatigue. Surface condition is the most important part in fatigue. The cyclic stresses caused by the continous use of the crane combined with poor maintenance will result in what you see on the video. Like I said in my first post...

  • @5554283 Thanks, we finally agree. As you stated 'cyclic conditions'.

  • little crazy glue and duckt tape ,and u r ready to work again in no time.

  • oh oh walmart gets screwed again

  • Funny. Must be a ZPMC crane. They are rubbish. Hair line cracks before they are taken into service.

  • Someone has hacked this video. There is this aweful music playing along with the video.

    Totally retarded.

  • likely human error, logic forced, bypasses on, poor maintenance. of course jump on the manufacture, who commissioned the crane, who maintained it. i know, that doesn't matter. Korea probably doesn't have yearly third party inspections. just run it tell it drops, this could happen to any crane with poor maintenance even a morris. (haha)

  • thats what happens when chinese steal building technology of the west and build shit without having the know how

  • Who do you think builds the gantry cranes used in every port of the US? Where was the last US gantry manufacturer that you know of?

  • islandcerts, The cranes in the Port of Miami were manufactured in China.

  • DammitDrag, I think you missed my point. Of course it was made in China, someone made the comment about 'Chinese steel building technology and building shit without having the know how'. My point is almost all gantrys come out of China. Take a look at the major U.S. seaport gantrys, most all are ZPMC cranes. They are the cheapest therefore they are most popular, however, I believe this particular accident is operator error.

  • @islandcerts I've never operated container cranes so I really don't know what sort of L.M.I. system they have but I do agree about the cheap crap from China.

You'd think after numerous accidents the port authorities would smarten up.

Anyone know if the container cranes have load monitoring system systems?

  • @DammitDrag Newer gantry cranes do have LMI sysytems however OSHA 1917 does not require them if handling intermodal containers and the load weight is known.

By the way, how did you get a name like that? I take it you are a dragline operator. If so, what have you operated. I am from the coal strip mine areas of Ohio myself and ran drag since '69.

  • @islandcerts I got you about the LMI's and yeah I do run Draglines Marions, B&E,

    Page and almost anything else.

I am also a crane operator and do mostly hook work now for The Industrial Company doing gold mine and power plant construction.

I stripped coal in Alabama for Drummond Coal and Cobb Coal.

  • @DammitDrag

yeh they do mate. they have systems called loadcells. these measure the total weight on the hoist ropes and cut the crane out if there is too much weight trying to be picked up.

  • great vid how long was ship delayed was there much of theship or cargo damaged and what caused the crane to fail

  • Hello everybody, my video is banned almost everywhere because of illegal using of music :( UMG copyprint :)

  • I really don't care about the music anyway, am interested in the cause of the crane accident. Why do you think music is necessary?

  • i agree, the use of music with this video is a total waste of time! i turned the vol off when it started.

  • Cool soundtrack, great vid footage...

What we really wanna know is,

what was the CAUSE of boom failure??

    ZPMC crane?

Are we safe working around these things or are there others ready to fall down and go BOOM! ?

  • I won't be surprised if it was a ZPMC crane. Dangerous chinese garbage.

  • how 's the operator?

  • what's the first song called in the video?

  • Nightwish - Moondance

  • thanx!

  • Looks expensive damage LOL.

  • Poor....thing...???

  • they dont make em like they used to.

  • My three Ferraris were in that white container.

  • haha crane boom go boom

  • Made in China... Happy Birthday...

  • where this happned?

  • South Korea

  • Is/was the operator okay ?

  • good video man))))
