  • I keep flipping between the Super Balanced Action -- a horn that would sell for ten grand easily -- and the CE Winds Pro, and I hear very little difference. At most, the CE Winds sound is slightly closer to Gerry Mulligan's baritone sound (out of a tenor), but that's about it. These must be very good horns to compare so favorably to one of the legends of the sax world.

  • What mouthpiece is that?

  • The solder on these horns is garbage...don't get me started. I'll take one of these on tour and destroy it guaranteed. I re-listened to the comparison and punched in at the beginning of each solo. STILL hands down the SBA has more punch and a wider spectrum of frequencies/color and also is more focused than the other horns. It also has a better neck. You must be making money with this because you sound great on the SBA, sorry, the truth hurts.

  • @MasterBlasterRGR The SBA should sound better, they sell for above or below $10,000.. where as the CE WInds Pro Series sell for above or below $2,000. You mentioned the solder on these horns is gargabe, have you owned one that this happened to? if so, the company will gladly cover this in the warranty. If you have not owned a CE Winds Pro Series of A2 Series, then how would you know? Thanks

  • @MasterBlasterRGR Gimme a break, in a blind test they'd be almost impossible to distinguish, this coming from somebody who absolutely loves SBA's. Solders suck? Own one? Pure conjecture?

  • Hands down the 53 SBA is more multi-frequencied than the other BRIGHT horns. It's not all about sound as it is responce /resistance etc. You can tell thers's no copper in the other horns with the "Zincy" sound...too much zinc.

  • @MasterBlasterRGR

the Pro DC and Pro DV saxes are made of a very high percentage of copper. The average brass saxophone has about 70% copper in the alloy, where they Pro Series saxes have atleast 85%. The SBA retailed for over 10k and the Pro series sell for around 2k. Thank you for posting.

  • Yeah I like the DV best

  • What's the song?

  • The WL i thought was my fav of the 3

  • I really like the DV sound as well..shares many characteristics with the SBA. I thought each horn had something different to offer, but the sound of the DV is something special.

  • I could really get a better idea of the tonal differences in the horns. I'm really digging the CE winds pro DV. It has a lot of character.
