  • qui c'est ce guignol avec le béret vert sur la tète, cela n’existe pas dans l'armée Française uniquement que pour le cinéma......

  • For those of you who talk about this, as if you are about to join. Don't think it's all games. A lot of it is secrets. But 1 thing í know, is that one of the tests you can be tried for when trying to earn your white barret (becoming a true legionaire), is walking 120 kilometers in 48 hours with 40 kilograms backpack, through snowy mountains. So don't sit around here and pretend that you for sure are going to join. You probably won't make it, but do try. It is a dream of mine too

  • i dont see anything elite about these guys. a bunch of rejects from society who get rejected by the ordinary military? just sad. nothing to be proud of.

  • Whatever power those legionnaries might have it doesn`t transfer to civil society. Once they`re out of that legion they`re back being rejects & missfits of society again.

  • Rumours of the FFL disbanding is false, infact i was on the phone to the FFL, Paris yesterday about joining. But, they never told me how long the selection is

  • I heard they disbanded

  • French ARE allowed to join the Legion and make up %25 of their numbers. The Legion was made because foreigners were forbidden to serve in the French Army after the 1830 July Revolution, the foreign legion was created to allow the government a way around this. The purpose of the legion was to remove disruptive elements from society and put them to use fighting the enemies of France. Recruits included failed revolutionaries and SOME troublemakers, but was certainly NOT a haven for France's scum.

  • @Y2KillerSPOOBLY

    Officially, they are NOT.

When a frenchman join the Legion, he is registered as swiss, or belgian.

  • @MrStaxxy Hm. Well that's interesting, I didn't know that.

  • @Y2KillerSPOOBLY France have no more colonies to protect what I now. So what`s the role of that legion now? It seems redundant & irrelevant to me.

  • @DeciBoibel Legion was separate to the French Army until the 80s (I think), then they were merged with the French Army and serve as a heavy line infantry unit. They have their own special forces wing in the form of 2reme Parachute Regiment. The role now is as an infantry brigade under the command of the French Army. The legion gives the French an easy way to muster new troops and reach recruitment goals - remember 9/10 applicants are knocked back, and many wish to return to give it another go.

  • @DeciBoibel Oh and the Legion is useful in situations where military involvement may be necessary but it is extremely dangerous, or there is a risk of political and public backlash - in situations that the public dont approve of. The French would send in the Legion; if they die, well at least no French were hurt, if they win, then that's a victory on France's behalf. They did exactly this in Namibia, sending in 2reme instead of French forces because the mission was deemed too dangerous.

  • Whoever made this documentary clearly has no idea what the legion is about and is very ill-informed about the military.

  • Who the hell made this? You can join if you are French, they just change your nationality on your papers to that of a french speaking country such as french canadaian, certain african states etc. I served , first with the British Royal Marine Commano's and then the 2eme REP. The majority of the elite 2eme REP come from Britain and Germany. In fact look closely at the nationality ratings and the majority of Legionnaires are British, Germans, Eastern Block Europeans and Africans, in that order,

  • Says here french cant join....Thats untrue. as u have little chance of being an nco if not french.

  • Just reading a book regarding joining, the author turned up at 10 to midnight had the shit kicked out of him and was told to come back at 8am. lol

  • A good Friend has 3 non- violent non drug related felonies, will the screening process deny him? Saving and planning for the trip, there is material online stating that the ffl branch may be shut down for lack of funds. Is ther any truth to this? Thanks for anyone who can respond. Best to you.

  • @imgonnaletyoutellit I saw a recent documentary that said the legion will ignore a persons criminal past as long as it doesn't involve dealing drugs. You can send them an email to clarify on their official website.

  • Why French tanks have a rear mirrors?

    - So the Crew can watch the battlefield...

Why Foregin Legion trains soliders outside the France?

    - So the native French garrisons dont get terrified by real gun shots

How many French Soilders takes to defend a paris?

    - No one knows - they never done this before

  • @Eclipsepoland

Shut up, I'm french, I would love to smash your face with an old paving stone from Paris.

Learn history. You must be american, you probably water instead of a brain.

    Fuck your dead people!

    Vive la France!

  • @clemnewyorker

    Q. How many jokes are there about the French?

    A. One, the rest are true

Q.What is the first thing the French teach their kids in school?

A.How to say "We Surrender" in German!

    Q. What does a French military alliance and a French romance have in common?

    A. Both are brief, sordid, and completely meaningless.

    Q. Why do we need France on our side against Saddam and Osama?

    A. So the French can show them how to surrender.

  • @Eclipsepoland

    Not funny.

At least French are not sent to war because of a lie to a country that has nothing to do with 9/11

  • Q. Why don't they have fireworks at Euro Disney?

    A. Because every time they shoot them off, the French try to surrender.

    Q. Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysees?

    A. So the Germans could march in the shade.

Q: How many gears does a French tank have?

A: 4 reverse and 1 forward, in case the enemy attacks from the rear.

Q: How can you identify a French Infantryman?

    A: Sunburned armpits.

  • @Eclipsepoland

    Do I have to laugh?

    How pathetic.

  • @Eclipsepoland it is true that Poland was heroic during the war ^ ^

  • @Eclipsepoland don't feed the troll

  • It's most likely that all officers are French-born citizens. It's the same for officers of every nation - native citizens can be commissioned, the rest cannot. Of course, some citizens want to be regular soldiers anyway.

  • where does the name of the FFL come from? from the germans of course.

  • Just amazing how many people believe they are ''Legion Etrangere'' specialists just because they watch movies. Anyway, only in this one, there is few major mistakes. I was lucky enough to serve as an officer in the 2e REI. So to reply to few of the comments below, the max. age to engage is 35, and starting as kepi blanc, you have very few chance to become an officer. If you want to do so, you have to go through OAEA school, what is pretty difficult for non native french speakers.

  • @Julawski hi, i was wondering if you can tell me some tips about joining... what's the best to say why you are joining and what sould i not say?:) and how many questions you get asked about criminal past? and what's the avarge amount of money you can make in 5 years?

  • My plan with this, is if all goes to hell, Join the FFL, do the 5 years, go back to usa, join Navy OCS, become a SEAL Officer, Army OCS maybe, either way I would have gone through one of the toughest enlisted experience, and I hope my men would respect me more for that, and I would be the best guy possible, I know bad officers, and I don't want to be that...

  • is that an FA MAS?

  • Au combat tu agis sans passion et sans haine, tu respectes les ennemis vaincus, tu n'abandonnes jamais ni tes morts, ni tes blessés, ni tes armes.

  • @shitbrick999, 40 yo is the maximum age to enlist, although that would likely be tough without a high degree of fitness and some previous military training

  • us marine's corps is like the FFL there are whites latinos and black people....

  • best time to join is in april so you dont have to be at the farm during winter

  • @stevencharliekomene

    What is, the farm?

  • @chica476 I believe it's some sort of trainingcamp.

  • Thomas Kadish is a badass.

  • More Disposable? Ready for Death?

We are not fucking Garbage. We are ready to take your death and arent scared of our own.

    Fuck outta here.

  • It is my understanding that in reality there are a number of French GIs. They join up under a false nationality. Some have noticed how some of the so-called "Quebecois", "Walloon", "Senegalese", etc., have accents strikingly similar to those of Lyon or Marseilles.

  • The FFL is a great idea. Everything about your past is erased. This is definitely my back up if shit hits the fan.

  • @Fredfredbug4

unfortunately, even if things do fuck up so much so that you need a new country to live in, you'll have to attain french citizenship under your original birthname... no "nom de guerre" for you.

  • @Fredfredbug4 shit hit the fan >.< wish me luck

  • @Fredfredbug4

in the past but not nowadays..

The murderers for examples are not accepted in the FFL nowadays...

  • i am 32 and PhD in geochemistry. am i eligible to join the legion?? whats the age limit?

  • @warriorsoul28 i think it's 40, you are ok

  • @warriorsoul28 -40 år m.v.h. legionaire Lieberkind.

    m.v.h.

    - Jeg er nu 66, så jeg er ikke helt med længere---!

  • how tool should you be to join french foreigh legion?I am 170

  • @anton7036 It doesn't matter, I think you are eligible!

  • @Since1831 ok,thanks.do you know when is the best time of the year to join FFL?

  • @anton7036 best time to join is in april so you dont go to the farm in winter. As soon as you get your combat boots put the soles from your trainers in

  • @stevencharliekomene Great advice!

  • @stevencharliekomene thanks for the advice

  • @anton7036

I guess you would be welcome in "1° REC" (armored regiment), not tall people are more efficient (ease to move) in restrained space : like inside tank

  • @anton7036

Thats more than tall enough.. Most asian recruits are 170. If I remember right the minimum recruierment is 155-160

  • @anton7036

    200 cm

  • depuis septembre 2010, les volontaires français peuvent s'engager sous leurs vraies identités. du coup les stats sur les volontaires belges, suisses et canadiens vont baisser (42% de français).

  • all i have to say is at lease the french forign legion takes people felonys unlike the sorry as americans at lease the french are willing to give people a 2nd chance at life unlike the usa

  • @sniperRobert On what grounds are you saying that USMC are better than FFL?Every elite force has its own training ans secrets.Don't judge FFL from a TV show.

  • no 1/3 are french

  • @frenchpride14 the officiers are french, grunts are foreigners thats why

  • @farbuttnear not all grunts are fireigners

  • @farbuttnear

20% of the soldiers are french

  • @milky0candy i love how people think they know better then me cuz they read it somewhere. yes there are french in the legion, grunts as well but the number is so "high" cuz of the officiers. in my section we are around 30 and only 1 guy is french

  • @farbuttnear

Yeah but officers start off as grunts....right?

  • @milky0candy very few do. they most enter the military academy straight after their college degree.

  • @milky0candy In the french army, about 30% of the officers are former "grunts". If you're OK, you will have a real chance to become an officer. The other 70% come from military officer academies.

  • Marine Corps or French Legion ????? mmmmmmm

  • @DjDaJuice USMC

  • if i ever decided to get out of the core in the future this is where im going

  • That's bullshit. Anyone can join the FFL, 20% of the FFL soldiers are french. They make mistakes in this video

  • hi everyone ,i have decided to join the legion due to the problems i have to rejoin the british army,is anybody interested to do so ,get in touch with me , cheers

  • @TheTkmy message me. I'm american and plan on joining as well.

  • if your irish can you join the legion ?

  • @gearsofwar404 Yes you can, But just know you cant quit for 5 years and if you do you go in jail

  • @gearsofwar404 no, the irish are gay

  • FALSE A FRENCH CITIZEN CAN ENTER THE FOREIGN LEGION IF HE PASS ALL THE TEST'S.

  • @MrKg1971

dose he have to change his Identity??

  • @madjaime2007 yes he have no choice. But the legion is thinking seriously about changing that. You can join the legion with ur real name. But to those who want to join the legion, think very seriously before joining the ffl. you will be a PUPPET for the legion this military corp is fucking crazy LIMIT TO LEGALITY NO KIDDING. A special investigation have been done on the legion by a french tv CANAL+. and believe it or not is not always as they call AWSOME.

  • Things man..Things..Crazy FUCKING THINGS MAN. Lol im jking I could never join the legion, the legion is for a man that can leave everything behind him, family friends his life...Which many men cant..so many are men who have nothing. CRAZY shit.

  • I hate how this documentary makes it sound like the legion is all secretive and mysterious. Maybe the soldiers' true identities aren't known, but the legion itself is NOT particularly secretive.

  • @nojyt I hear that, what the legion allow to show on tv is just 10% of what the legion is all about.

  • @MrKg1971 Only 10%? What a nice round number.

  • there is a BIG differance from having made some bad decisions in life and "being a failure" . Some of these man have been to the edge way before they joined the Legion, they probably have risked life and limb for more pointless reasons then "god and country" . it's like there fighting for redemption, thats a powerful insentive to get the job done

  • I was in the legion..ive seen some things..some fucking crazy things manNn...

  • @wastedyouth1109

    What were they?

  • Check their website...decent pay and the typical French 6+ weeks of vacation per year!

  • mercenaries are supposed to make a lot of money.. these guys dont make tht much.. its more about the feeling of being alive before dying than makin money..

  • @rockyl84

    1100 eura

  • 'I was in the Australian Army and i was kicked out'

So how the fuck did he manage to keep that from the Gestapo? I thought the legion did thorough back ground checks on all applicants and any little problem would mean you get rejected.

  • @techlogi7

not really.. the reason he got kicked out is more important.. they r not that stingy..

  • @techlogi7 u dont get rejected by the legion because u been kick out by the Australian army. The legion will kick you out when the POLICE ,INTERPOLE of ur country is looking for you.

  • @techlogi7 Maybe he didn't keep it from the Gestapo. It's my understanding that if you are honest with them, that goes a long way. It also depends on why he was kicked out of the Australian Army. If it was something trivial and told them about it, then the Legion MIGHT give him another chance. If it was something serious or really bad, then you're right, he would be rejected or have INTERPOL on him depending if he was wanted or not.

  • i´m tires of my actual lifestyle. what do i need to be a legionaire?

  • mentally and physically strong, willpower, and you can't be french:)

  • @geunsjl a yeah ? i'm french and i'm in the foreign legion and the most big part now are the guys from east of europe they are the most strong physically

  • Hey Mark, just had the most honest and incredible conversation about your time in the legion. Good luck to you and yours! An amazing story that started... and ended... in Dublin...

  • LEGIO PATRIA NOSTRA

  • Viva La Legion Etrangére !!

  • What a great group of military operators. However unconventional in their concept and recruiting they get the job done around the world. I served along side of these guys as a US Marine during Golf 1...

  • thanx for the marquis de Lafayette france!!!!

i cant wait to get my passport and apply to these warriors

  • the lgion is nearly made up of 25% french 03:12

  • 8 ins 25(ish) he says its FAILURES that join the Legion, in that case he is also talking about himself because he doesnt sound too French

  • Viva La Legion!

  • I have to make one correction to the Colonel's statement, there is one more difference between the French Army and The Legion: Prior to 2001, the French military had a conscription system, whereas The Legion is and has always been, all volunteers.

  • The Colonel Bouquin is now the General Commander of the legion since the 1st of July 2009!

  • yup

  • @georgehennessy I know this comment is pretty old but didn`t the french government decide to make main french army consist of voulenteers as well now ?

I heard their goal was to focus on a smaller more professional army

  • thanks for putting this back lol i dont think france likes this documentry i expect it to be down soon lol

  • why you think France don't like this docu??

  • they have the coolest march, hell the way they march is almost enuff to make you want to join
