We never had a drug problem until the government got involved. What business is it of the government to have an interest in what I put into my body, which I, a free thinking individual, own? Answer: religious superstition and hyper-morality.
fuck yeah let the government make the cash and let me smoke weed every prob will get better money crime poverty drug use over all...thank god on the weed its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay safer than drinking no one beats there hick wife on weed or kills old ladies dring drunk pot heads only steal ur rice krispies treats big crimes man
At last someone who makes sense - if government were truly concerned about the health of the citizens then GM foods and aspartame and fluoride would not be in general circulation. Government is a hypocrite, and a dangerous hypocrite at that. MJ and others are outlawed because you can't get a patent on something that's 5000 years old - get real.
Prohibition only profits the criminals and police state
The blind senseless fear people have for drugs is a disconnect. They don't fear the state sponsored drugs, alcohol, coffee, prescriptions, all of which kill people everyday
Hemp has never killed anyone. In fact people who smoke pot live an average of 24 years longer than those that drink alcohol
Hemp is in the bible, it's is a super food a super bio fuel and makes over 55,000 products which are all produced by big oil synthetics today
Not to mention, hemp oil could be used to power our cars and the such.
So there's absolutely no need to even get into this discussion. The only discussion we need to get into is with the people of America and legalize the use of hemp.
Great! At least one politician knows whats up. The bad news is it will NEVER happen because our CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT wants drugs to stay illegal to keep the price up [they bring the drugs in] and their butt buddies who own/run the prisons fat and happy.
Well said Mr Gravel. I've been saying this for years to the police & local polititions, but it doesn't fit in to the agenda so they continue to criminalise people over it rather than educate. Most of the profits from drugs are spent on black opps & secret agendas to further the NWO.
If cannabis is so bad then why did the dutch legalize it, and magic mushrooms you can't overdose on either can you overdose on alcohol? EASILY. every drug should be legal.

This may or may NOT be related, but I DON'T believe ANYONE is BORN a "felon" (a BAD person)...I believe some people BECOME bad because of one or more of the following reasons: 1. He/she is addicted to a substance that is mind-altering &/or is EXTREMELY addictive that the person must steal, cheat, etc. to be able to keep buying it, 2. He/she was SCREWED-OVER MOST of his/her entire life (USUALLY by people he/she TRUSTED) & there is NO other recourse than taking one's own REVENGE, 3. He/she has

A fetus has 46 chromosomes. The only species that has 46 chromosomes is homo sapiens. A fetus is a member of our species. It is human. That is a fact.
I stand corrected, you're right about that. There are other animals. Regardless, the human genetic code contained therein is unique to each individual and the organism does NOT lack biological and physiological characteristics that "make it an actual human being." Saying so is simply idiotic.

i had an abortion in 1993, paid for by NY state taxpayers. i want to tell you that it is awful. i killed my first conceived & this blood is on my hands & those of NY.
i promised my self that i would never do that again & i have honoured this.

That's one of the only things I don't agree with Ron on as well. Although, he does believe that each state would be responsible for making abortion laws...that I agree with!
pot is only illegal because it comes from many other countries besides U.S. that if it becomes legal, the economy would get thrown off
the goverment is lying about all that stuff how weed is addicting and it makes u stupid and it causes lung cancer and its a gateway drug and all that stuff. it may not be the most healthy thing for u, but not nearly as bad as they say it is. i agree with Gravel. alchohal is much worse than weed and theres tons of other evidence about what he is trying to prove.
I've made the conclusion that the government lying about weed is the reason its a gateway drug, cause once you try weed you realize its not bad and some people (not all) experiment on other more addictive drugs thinking if the government lies about weed what else have they lied about.
Because big money buys elections. Big money wants war continued and the drug war continues. A lot of money is made off both. We have a military-industrial complex and a penal-law enforcement complex working to maintian the status quo, even while they sink us.
It's also a reflection on the average voter. The average voter is not interested in logical arguments as to why the drug war is wrong cannot possibly succeed. They would rather see the smooth-talking politician sort get up there and spout garbage like "We will crack down on drug dealers, keep drugs out of your children's schools, and win this war on drugs!" These types are the ones who get the votes from the masses, leaving candidates who are direct and logical with an enormous wall to climb.

He is absolutely correct about the prisons There was a recent case here in my town. Young boys and girls getting into the system for simple drug offenses for pot, while thousands of children and their parents are hooked on Aderral. And you see, when someone is locked up, they are almost inevitably exposed to AIDS since some righteous dicks keep condoms out of prisons. AIDS is the sentence for smoking a little hemp? Absolutely wrong. While Shire employees should be locked up for this ADHD fad.
Common Sense. The government blows. Democrats and Republicans aren't interested in solving any problems. They don't freaking care about us. F*** them all. Gravel is a great person. So is Ron Paul.
For example, Ron Paul introduced the Family Education Freedom Act, which would give parents a $3,000 tax credit to send their kid to whatever school they want. Education can be better run locally, just as other social programs can be. LIMIT FEDERAL GOV'T.
How do you know those Americans can't survive without social programs? I understand what you are saying, and Gravel speaks the truth on many issues and is a honest man. But the free market ideals can work. Fact is: people cheat welfare, inner city public education sucks. The question is: Have social programs really helped?
Sorry fellas, but the U.S. shouldn't have this great guy as a president, we need him here in Venezuela... we have a loon here and we need someone with common sense.

I've never seen any person blame their local licensed liquor store or bar for crime, drunk driving and public disturbance due to alcohol consumption. It's always the pot dealer down the corner or no violent pot smoker in the alleyway. It truely IS bizarre.
Since when has a pot dealer been blamed for someone commiting an offense while under the influence? Any local liquor store CAN be blamed for incidences that involve people who commit crimes while drunk, and I see it happen all the time.
Woo! Totally awesome. And he'll never get anywhere.
I don't like Gravel's economics, and some other stuff. But I like the man anyway, because he is not the same middle road Democrat that ends up supporting no real freedoms in any area. And I am sorry that he has so little support.

No he's not.
He's very well educated, and he's not insane. He just talks about things that nobody else has the balls to talk about.
Operation Ajax for example, and how that led to radical Islam.

No.
He's the real deal as much as Paul is.
He's a REAL Democrat, just as Paul is a REAL Republican.

"He studied Ron Paul and is repeating almost word for word..."
Two people aren't allowed to agree on an issue? F--k you, man.
The difference is that Ron Paul is a lunatic who wants to roll America back into the stone age. He wants to throw the poor to the wolves.
uncreativejackass 4 years ago
How is he wanting to "throw the poor to the wolves"?
I will say that I disagree on what the other user said about Ron Paul. Their opinions on this issue are similar, but not the same.

I've never seen any person blame their local licensed liquor store or bar for crime, drunk driving and public disturbance due to alcohol consumption. It's always the pot dealer down the corner or no violent pot smoker in the alleyway. It truely IS bizarre.
Eyebird1 4 years ago 7
Since when has a pot dealer been blamed for someone commiting an offense while under the influence? Any local liquor store CAN be blamed for incidences that involve people who commit crimes while drunk, and I see it happen all the time.

Woo! Totally awesome. And he'll never get anywhere.
I don't like Gravel's economics, and some other stuff. But I like the man anyway, because he is not the same middle road Democrat that ends up supporting no real freedoms in any area. And I am sorry that he has so little support.

mr1970gumby 4 years ago
He's a former senator; he's no longer in Congress (he hasn't been since about 1980).

Vote Mike Gravel for 2008
Don't fall for rhetoric... research Mike Gravel. Stop electing these rich people that don't care about us... TAKE INITIATIVE! SPREAD THE WORD!
hamsterpoop 4 years ago
The media will never cover someone like this. If they do it will be to call him a 'vote stealer' or a 'radical'. Enjoying your 'democracy' America?

Wait... is this what Mike Gravel is like when he actually get's an opportunity to speak??
OW! That's awesome!!
CNN! CNN!! LET him speak next time!!!
He really has some worthwhile things to say.
Didn't you know, Mr. Journalism Corporation?
Try doing your homework next time CNN.
At least give each candidate an equal opportunity to speak. For Democracy's sake already.
