@JustinBoy2OnRoblox you say fake yet did you read the video title? -_- its from a film called raise the titanic which was based on a book written before the wreck was found so everyone assumed it went down whole.......in future read before you comment -_-
Actually the movie Raise the TITANIC was filmed 5 years Before it was discovered , so no one knew it actually broke apart but In the movie the idea was to fill the hull compartments full of foam and make the ship float ..
the actual ship couldnt be raised because its falling apart by itself , people couldnt go down there because they would die. Its been on the ocean floor for just under 100 years so its buried there. and finally its like a mass grave trying to raise it would be totally disrespectful to everyone who died that night.
@CJaguar265 It's called "Memories of the titanic Ballroom". It was played during the scene where Richard Jordon was waking through the ballroom carrying the White Star flag.
it couldn't be raised. the real ship is practically collapsing in on itself, as is now common knowledge it snapped in half, meaning little structural integrity without taking into account its been on the seabed for 100 years.
@mammandablues Yes it did. However back in the day when inquires were held there was a conflict in survivors accounts regarding if it broke up before sinking. The surviving highest ranking officer insisted that it did not and so the inquiry board took his account to be the correct one. This fiction movie came out in 1980 – 5 years before the ship was discovered confirming that it had indeed broken up in half as it sank.
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 in this years i saw the titanic model 100 time since i was a child ,my grandfather used to own a ground in front of the the studios
yes... i think tht titanic should be left alone widh the people who died widh her....no need of bringing her up to the surface (though we can)....let the people( who where lost widh her) rest in peace..
Hard to beleive that the actaul titanic looks better than this model and it's been under the ocean for 100 years.. what a waste of a amazing piece of art.. this could have been on display somewhere.
What a sad end for a fine piece of movie model making and memorabilia. Surely some film association could rescue the thing. Or perhaps someone like Spielberg could put up the cash to have the thing restored and given to a group like the Smithsonian.
Leave her where she lay. Those who died on that ship are resting there with her. Leave her lay where she is, and have respect for those who died, including her. It is great to be able to see her and all of that. That is fine. We are learning new things all the time. But do not try and bring her back. In the long run it would completely destroy her faster than being completely left alone down there.
-sigh- We can't raise the Titanic. It's too deep, only machines can go there. Divers can't go down there. It's too dark and they'll die because of the high pression. The bacteria is eating the ship... Also, we should leave it there in peace. Have RESPECT for the people who were on it. Dammit -.-
@XxHarryJamesPotterXx - I agree, the REAL Titanic should be left aloan and those who were lost in the sinking left in peace. But don't forget, what you see here is film prop made and used for a fictional film based on a work of fiction (Clive Cussler - Raise the Titanic - 1976)
@XxHarryJamesPotterXx ALSO... is we were to move it, it would fall apart, and if ovygen hits it, well, we can say that it's a pile of rubble hurdling to the ovean; no longer a ship
@XxHarryJamesPotterXx Technically there really aren't any bodies on it. They have never found human remains, and the only evidence that there were bodies at one point are the pairs of shoes they find (which is far more eerie than actual skeletons, but I digress). The same forces disintegrating the ship have already completely disintegrated the flesh and bones of anyone unlucky enough to die that night. Though your point still stands about not being able to raise it.
@JHHBeck No, that is a different situation. Individual graves are marked, and there will always be a marker to show that.
What I am saying is that the people that were once interred in and around the wreck are no longer; essentially claimed by the sea. Letting the wreck deteriorate into dust without at least some attempt salvage, restore, and display (but not profit off of) historically and culturally significant artifacts does no justice to those who perished, as a marker traditionally would.
@drosera88 Essentially, along the lines of recovering artifacts from the tombs of Egyptian kings.
Thanks for replying by the way. I realized after you replied that they way I worded my original comment might have come off as a bit callous, as I really provided no context to my statement.
this is so sad i agree with the other posters, they should have preserved it i only hope somthing can be done to save it and put it in a musium and rebuild some of it!
It is a disgrace this was allowed to happen to this model. it should have been donated to a museum where it could have been preserved. this model was well detailed. and to end up like this is a crime. The Studio Execs should hang their head in shame for letting this model rot away as it has.
This is painful. I say that because the sheer deterioration of the model is remenisent of whats happening to the actual wreck of Titanic herself. I wish funds could be raised to buy and restore the model to it's original glory. Perhaps it could be donated to a film school.
@Emporator - The track is from the film 'Raise the Titanic' by John Barry and titled "Memories of the Titanic". The version heard here is specially extended by myself.
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 A very hearty congratulations is deserved - you've done a beautiful job. I've been listening to it over and over again all afternoon!
Since the love for this ship is undying, it would seem that building a Titanic that could travel the world for people to see would be an idea. Perhaps this would give the people on the living side of the legend a chance to actually see this marvel. It is very oblivious that the Titanic is greatly loved and admired and people every where will not let her die,or disappear in to obscurity.
What a shame....what a credit to the model makers of the time. It did look such a convincing model in the movie. The real one will never be restored, but perhaps someone could restore this model?
wouldn't raising it by now be unssuccessful cos the more time she remains on the seabed the pressure of the 31/2 ton water around her still crushing her slowly each minute and raising her she'd just come apart....is it necessary to tear apart more of her structure a smuch as she's already been torn?
its to small to be the titanic ( i know its a movie but they could of made it bigger like the one in the real titanic movie with rose and jack) crys jack
Yeah; but, a lot of people are finding it after the location of the ship. And the notion of raising her still keeps cropping up. People just don't seem to get how big a mess that ship is now. Most get it; but, a few...
@havoc092 - Why worry about it? If people fantisize about raising her, let them get on with it. Anyone with an ounce of common sense will know that ship will never be raised. . . . Thankfully the 1980 movie "Raise The Titanic" is a work of pure fiction.
@havoc092 I would think in it's current condition, The ship would just disintergrate if any attempt was made to raise it. That's if it were even possible. I think it would be more profitable to Build an exact copy of the ship, and probably cheeper.
@havoc092 It's also a big RUSTY mess, and it would break into pieces if they ever tried! What I wonder though is if they can raise the crew and passengers along WITH the titanic?
An interesting model; but, the concept of raising the ship is probably the king of all bad ideas and likely why the movie referenced was a flop. I don't think one can see the wreck on the bottom, understand the level of destruction and what she now represents and still fantasize about raising her. It just doesn't sit well. But thanks for posting the video. ;)
@havoc092 You have to remember Raise the Titanic was written and the movie produced long before the ship was found. Nearly all of the survivors testified the ship when down in one piece so until the wreck was found it was subject to speculation. As to why raising the Titanic was a good idea; I leave it to you to discover by reading the book. The movie was a flop because it was a horrible treatment of this great book.
@FromStartupToSuccess - Sorry, but a large number of survivors stated the ship broke apart during sinking. It was also raised during the 1912 inquiry, but because senior officers stated the ship sank away from them "intact" it was looked upon as she sank in one peice. Afterall, a surviving passenger was out to discredit the White Star Line. It was not until the discovery and following photographing of the wreck in late 1985 that it was 100% confirmed she had broke apart during sinking.
Are there any interest groups prepared to restore or preserve this prop/replica of the RMS Titanic ? Something as significant as this should be preserved in a Maritime or Motion Picture museum. Even a spare garage would be better than this !!
apparently my great grandad sat beside captian smith on the titanic at least thats what my nan used to tell us, sadly he didnt make it out in time although being in 1 class he didnt get to a life boat in time. R.I.P great grandad :)
Good pics. It's too bad that it was just left there like that. Your the shear size would make it hard to move-but, they still could have somehow kept it in good condition.
@TouchedMyDreams - It was the shear size of the model that prevented it from leaving Malta. At 55ft in lnegth, 12ft in height and weighing over 10 tons, the model was far to big to transport. They even had issues when the model went from L.A to Malta during production of the film.
@nfsmw9 - This is a job for a professional model maker, not a shipyard. The model has gone beyond repair. Easier and cheaper to build another from complete scratch.
@Soundwave3591 - Oh, yes, the original ship was built at the Queens Island works of Harland & Wolff, Belfast (along with most of the other notable White Star vessels).
@BarryDennen12 - Ken has tryed, and failed, to get the model over the years. The model however is now beyond repair. But the TV company who owns it will not let it go.
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 If they don't care if they have it or not, and if they don't care if it falls apart or not, why don't they sell it if someone wants it? at this point it's not worth much, takes more money to fix, and then they don't have to deal with it... win/win in my mind.
@JeffHendrie - It belongs to a company and not a person. Why sell it in the first place. Its too big and cost to much money to restore what is left of the hull. It would be a far less costly exercise to build another from scratch than to repair this. Plus, who would show any interest in a badly rotted away film model from a film that flopped big time and one that is regarded as a bad omen in the film industry. All because its the TITANIC does not mean it will make someone money.
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 I'd show interest... and I know a company owns it... I already stated a company owns it, and I also stated it takes more money to fix, and I like the movie raise the titanic... and apperantly YOU show interest too if you're making vids on it.
@JeffHendrie - Whats the film being a flop making, as you put it, "no sense" in me liking the movie. Are you telling me I should'nt like the movie because it's a flop? I like the movie because "I" like the movie, regardless what others think.
@GuyverFan95 The TV company is more ungrateful to it than everyone else on earth is to the real thing, at least other people makes models and actually TRY to keep them in shape, and actually CARE about them. Neglect, isn't good for people, or living things, as it's not good for inanimate objects. therefore, you're right.
Hello, i saw this movie lots of times and own a couple copies too, the musis is breath taking , can you tell me whats the name of this tune ? love sax music ! Thanks for posting this video ,Tom
@Classictom1 - The track is called "Cornwall" by John Barry and taken off the movie soundtrack to 'Raise the Titanic'. However, this is my own extended remix of the track which is not available anywhere else except here.
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 An absolutely amazing remix of a wonderful piece of music. Congrats to you on a great YT channel. Raise the Titanic is one of my favourite movies, even though the plot was very thin, the special fx and the soundtrack won me over.
did any one that its against the law to raise the titanic and take stuff even bodies coz its a grave and in the usaul graves u wouldnt dig up bodies so?!
@bebe098bebe Yes I agree but as RaiseTheTitanic1980 stated its only a movie, and a book, and the raising the bodies well that is impossible bodies must have been deteriorated and eaten by animals or bacteria, or the salt simply would explode the cells from the body as they would move from high concentration of salt to low concentration of salt. Like fresh water fish it would explode if you leave it for a very long time in salt water as the molecules would exchange positions.
@kapat12724 - The model was in terrible condition before the storm hit. If you take a look at my other videos, you will see one showing the model from the time of the movie right through to the mid 1990s. I have a large number of close-up photographs (not seen on my YouTube vids) of the model from 1993 and it is in very poor condition with much deck detailing all but gone. Decks have collasped, bulkheads have rotten away.
@tascott59 what i meant was many crucial scenes, Like the Russian Commando raid to capture the Ore that was behind the salvage operation, were not filmed to begin with. i should have worded that better.
@tascott59 as much as we can hope, i heard Cussler hated the movie more than anyone. the model, while beautiful in her day, took no reference from the Book, (ex: she was not supposed to have ANY funnels in the film to begin with) and many scenes were cut out, such as the Russian Commando raid. the trip to New York was supposed to take MUCH longer.
But Still, you are right, this is a shame. you'd think Cameron would have made use of it.

Nearly all of the survivors testified the ship when down in one piece so until the wreck was found it was subject to speculation. As to why raising the Titanic was a good idea; I leave it to you to discover by reading the book. The movie was a flop because it was a horrible treatment of this great book.
FromStartupToSuccess 1 year ago

AussieAviator 1 year ago
apparently my great grandad sat beside captian smith on the titanic at least thats what my nan used to tell us, sadly he didnt make it out in time although being in 1 class he didnt get to a life boat in time. R.I.P great grandad :)

What ship is that?
callofdutywawcj1 1 year ago
@callofdutywawcj1 - It's the fairly new Cunard QUEEN MARY II.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
Good pics. It's too bad that it was just left there like that. Your the shear size would make it hard to move-but, they still could have somehow kept it in good condition.

So it looks reallier than in the movie

Hard to believe that this 55ft replica cost 3 million dollars more to build then the original titanic....pity
sissymarylen15741a 1 year ago
Couldn't they scrap the decks, fixing the hull and re-paint it and then rebuild the decks again? This could become a famous model...
Abricialio 1 year ago
What a shame. The TV company could of gave it to someone who'd look after it.
TouchedMyDreams 1 year ago 8
@TouchedMyDreams - It was the shear size of the model that prevented it from leaving Malta. At 55ft in lnegth, 12ft in height and weighing over 10 tons, the model was far to big to transport. They even had issues when the model went from L.A to Malta during production of the film.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 Something that big could still be easily moved with care.
TouchedMyDreams 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 you'r right butt if it's transport to malta than it can be transported to belfast ...

@nfsmw9 - Belfast?
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 yes where the titanic is build this model is a big 1 i think it's the biggest one earth
nfsmw9 1 year ago
@nfsmw9 - This is a job for a professional model maker, not a shipyard. The model has gone beyond repair. Easier and cheaper to build another from complete scratch.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 it's where the Titanic was built
Soundwave3591 1 year ago
@Soundwave3591 - No, this model (used for the film RAISE THE TITANIC) still sits in the film studio where the film was made, in Malta.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 i mean the original ship was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast, Ireland.
Soundwave3591 1 year ago
@Soundwave3591 - Oh, yes, the original ship was built at the Queens Island works of Harland & Wolff, Belfast (along with most of the other notable White Star vessels).

What company owns this model?
dhart1977 1 year ago
@dhart1977 - The TV company that had taken over ITC.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 ITC? Sorry but it doesnt ring any bells. Are they out of the US or what?
dhart1977 1 year ago
A case of art imitating the real thing, the model is slowly rusting and collapsing just like the wreck.
181stTIE 1 year ago
Just like the real Titanic, one day she'll just become a pile of junk just because she didn't turn a profit.
Remington1875 1 year ago
What a wreck!
I wish Ken Marschall or someone would buy it back and try renovate it, I bet it'd be hopeless but it'd make for a great video.
BarryDennen12 1 year ago
@BarryDennen12 - Ken has tryed, and failed, to get the model over the years. The model however is now beyond repair. But the TV company who owns it will not let it go.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
What a bizarre thing!
BarryDennen12 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 then if they won't let it go,why are they letting it fall apart like that.
hecrpd 1 year ago
@hecrpd - Because they don't care, it's only a film prop.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 they must have no idea how much that prop would go for it it was still intact.
hecrpd 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 If they don't care if they have it or not, and if they don't care if it falls apart or not, why don't they sell it if someone wants it? at this point it's not worth much, takes more money to fix, and then they don't have to deal with it... win/win in my mind.
JeffHendrie 1 year ago
@JeffHendrie - It belongs to a company and not a person. Why sell it in the first place. Its too big and cost to much money to restore what is left of the hull. It would be a far less costly exercise to build another from scratch than to repair this. Plus, who would show any interest in a badly rotted away film model from a film that flopped big time and one that is regarded as a bad omen in the film industry. All because its the TITANIC does not mean it will make someone money.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 I'd show interest... and I know a company owns it... I already stated a company owns it, and I also stated it takes more money to fix, and I like the movie raise the titanic... and apperantly YOU show interest too if you're making vids on it.
JeffHendrie 1 year ago
@JeffHendrie - You did not state a company owns, that was I who said that.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@RaiseTheTitanic1980 BTW, if it's such a flop, why do you care about the movie? Hmm? makes no sence.
JeffHendrie 1 year ago
@JeffHendrie - Whats the film being a flop making, as you put it, "no sense" in me liking the movie. Are you telling me I should'nt like the movie because it's a flop? I like the movie because "I" like the movie, regardless what others think.

So sad. They should had at least try to protect it more better than this.
GuyverFan95 1 year ago

However, this is my own extended remix of the track which is not available anywhere else except here.

did any one that its against the law to raise the titanic and take stuff even bodies coz its a grave and in the usaul graves u wouldnt dig up bodies so?!
bebe098bebe 1 year ago
@bebe098bebe - This is only a film model, and a film with is fictional.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@bebe098bebe Yes I agree but as RaiseTheTitanic1980 stated its only a movie, and a book, and the raising the bodies well that is impossible bodies must have been deteriorated and eaten by animals or bacteria, or the salt simply would explode the cells from the body as they would move from high concentration of salt to low concentration of salt. Like fresh water fish it would explode if you leave it for a very long time in salt water as the molecules would exchange positions.
TITANICLUSITANIA 1 year ago
Actually, the model was in really good condition before this, then it was damaged by a storm in 2003.
kapat12724 1 year ago
@kapat12724 - The model was in terrible condition before the storm hit. If you take a look at my other videos, you will see one showing the model from the time of the movie right through to the mid 1990s. I have a large number of close-up photographs (not seen on my YouTube vids) of the model from 1993 and it is in very poor condition with much deck detailing all but gone. Decks have collasped, bulkheads have rotten away.
RaiseTheTitanic1980 1 year ago
@tascott59 what i meant was many crucial scenes, Like the Russian Commando raid to capture the Ore that was behind the salvage operation, were not filmed to begin with. i should have worded that better.
Soundwave3591 1 year ago
@tascott59 as much as we can hope, i heard Cussler hated the movie more than anyone. the model, while beautiful in her day, took no reference from the Book, (ex: she was not supposed to have ANY funnels in the film to begin with) and many scenes were cut out, such as the Russian Commando raid. the trip to New York was supposed to take MUCH longer.
But Still, you are right, this is a shame. you'd think Cameron would have made use of it.
