I play killzone 2 on CRT projector with HDFury adapter to send hdmi out to analogue via vga. picture is good. at 725 lumens 120 inch or less is ideal. if u try 200 inches like i did, any black detail is gone. CRT doesn't block light like bulb units so you get better blacks and contrast.
i have electric 120 inch screen but don't use it, no room at the oment.
@DEEZY79999 lol its funny you should say that because im probably going to get the Logitech Z5500 as someone i know has it and the power is AMAZING. Its a desktop system but due to its power its more than adequate for home cinema also. So excited!
@juvenil6969 I don't use a screen, so you can get by without one as long as you have a good wall to project on.
You will need some sort of sound system, and I'd recommend getting a surround sound system that fits with your budget (you can get one for between $100-$300) and you'll need a digital optical cable to plug your PS3 into the surround sound system.
Otherwise, I use HDMI to plug my PS3 into the projector, and that's all you really need.
@t3hmauler Cool thx for the quick reply. As I said on my other post I am going to get the Logitech Z5500 surround sound system as I have already heard it in action and it is immense
@soulweaponry It does get very hot, but I haven't had it malfunction due to the heat before. I have on the other hand, had my bulb blow up after about 10 months and 500 hours of use. I called Optoma and they replaced the bulb for no charge even though it was well out of warrant.y Since I got my projector back from them, it seems like it runs cooler, so if you had any problems with it, they might fix it for free.
@No3225 as far as I can tell, you can't set the refresh rate independently, it is done automatically. Mine runs at 60Hz on 720p and when receiving a 1080p signal, if that helps.
@No3225 Not really, the only thing is that because the projector is so bright, that it reflects off my wall a lot. For example, playing Modern Warfare, if someone hits you with a flash bang, it actually brightens up the entire room and can actually be a little bit hard on your eyes. Other than that, it's not really any different than a TV or a Monitor, it's just a lot bigger.
hi guys im bowt to get this projector and one tiny thing is bugin me. i have a plain big wall however do u recon itl ruin it if my wall has a vvv slight grainy texture on it or will using that projection paint solve it
My wall has a grainy texture to it. I'd say painting it can't hurt, as long as you paint it the right color. You shouldn't be able to notice the texture on the wall, unless you are viewing the screen from the side.
hey, one last question, on the product infomation, it says tht the projector shud be placed 12 metres away from screen for best picture. i dont hav this much room so do u still get a gd quality picture from 2-3 metres away? thanks
Yes, I would actually think the closer the projector is, the better the actual picture quality will be. What the product information probably meant is that is the distance you need to achieve the largest screen possible.
nice, i got an ecp 4500 hd cathode ray tube projector an i play HD 720p gameplay footage off pc of killzone 2 and it looks awesome. picture size is 150 inch diaganal at 16:10 1440x900. i use 720p and others. just i like that res for widescreen.
digital projectors are good because they throw much more light, sharp pixels and show dark detail more easily.
however crt projector has better colour, contrast, absolute black, perfect white level.
im from Ottawa canada, do you know any retailers that might sell them, I heard costco has a deal $980 with a 92" screen but last i heard about that was months ago.

I am pretty much set on this projector but what else do you need? I already have a PS3, do you think a projector screen is necessary?
Also what do you need for sound and how much does the sound equipment cost?
Any additional cables needed??

what about lag/
how is the situation with that?
wath is the respons time for projector and what is his refresh rate?
No3225 1 year ago
@No3225 The refresh rate is 43-120 Hz. I haven't really had noticable problems with lag after playing a lot of online games.

hey dude looks good. how does this projector perform in the day with some ambient light?
smokenz 3 years ago
As long as it isn't super bright in the room, it looks pretty good, but obviously the darker, the better.

I always reload whenever it's safe. Better to reload early than get into danger and run out of ammo because you didn't reload when you could have. =)
