There's good weight and bad weight. This is bad weight. Unless you're rockin' lights AND lasers AND a PEQ-2A AND a bipod, four rails is dead weight in the worst possible place (out front). They need to go with something more along the lines of a TRX rail, where you only have rail where it will actually be needed. Hopefully they will introduce a slick-unless-you-need-it version. I'd buy that.
all I see is alot of added weight for very little added benefit. It looks very cool, but there are more practical ways of adding accessories to a shotgun.
@garrettzkool63 Exactly. This is shit. Is someone going to put five scopes & six flashlights on a damn shotgun? There is NO need for that much rail. Cawwadooty sure is selling a lot of firearms these days.
@Friedstuffsable pretty much. i have a light on mine and thats it. ill be getting a mini red dot for slugging but thats it forever. i dont need a bipod or holographic sight haha
These rails have been discontinued. They weighed too much to be practical. A whopping 24oz. Black Aces Tactical has upgraded models that weigh only 16oz for the Rem 870/1100, and 14oz for the Moss 500/590/ Mav 88, and at a much lower price. What's more.. they're in stock. No waiting and no messing around.
To me that looks like a lot of weight to mount a light and a red dot on my shotgun... For home protection or simply coolness factor, alright. But in any other application - too much weight. Of course just my opinion.
The reason why this is a stupid product is because, if you have an 870E, without the 400 dollar polished finish, you will need to lubricate the barrel after every usage. With this big cool thing on it, you will have to disassemble your whole shotgun every time just to prevent surface rust.
I was contemplating getting this thing, but for cleaning purposes and protection, skip it if you have an 870 Express if you don't want to have to take the whole thing apart just to prevent rust.
is it worth it to may your shotgun look like something outa a sifi movie? OH HELLS YES!!! this is the rail ima put on my sbs when i getta round to it...
The Mossberg is battle proven, yet it's only made for the 870 that failed the military trials. Shame... You won't see a 870 in a soldiers hand in Iraq of Afghanistan. Just a thought...
@12GaugeLosAngeles The remington is also "battle proven" as you put it.As far as "failed military trials", it doesn't meet the Army's milspec 3443 qualifications of having a dual excractor and a metal trigger guard therefore it's cannot pass the test due to it's design. The 870 IS used in the military under the designation M870 by the marines, as well as various SWAT teams, our border patrol, the US Coast Guard... Btw, do a google and you'll see 870's in the hands of our soldiers in Iraq...

Or you can save 200 bucks and buy the Aimtech Warhammer. Only disadvantage is not having the rail on the bottom of the barrel.
