Hi, ChuckAkins, can you tell me where this video is made..perhaps at his dad's house before he passed? Thank u for posting, I love Scotty and his brothers...all are top musicians. This video reminds me of all the times growing up they came an picked on the little south fork, here where his dad grew up. I am a cousin and had the priviledge of singing at his mom's funeral. Scotty has such a humble spirit which ranks him number one in my book. :-)
timings a little funky in spots and he doesn't play the correct bass notes like chet.more like merle's style.this song swings like a dead monkey.scotty knows where one is!he knows lots o' licks though.
@matt1284508 did you realize Merle wrote the song????so how could chet be doingthe correct bass notes and Merle not? please Im trying to lay back and enjoy no mindedness and I have to respond to this comment
Folks, talent like this doesn't come along every day, so get yourselves to hear the great Scotty Anderson live and support him by purchasing his recordings, too. I've known about him since the 1980s, and am still floored every time I hear him play. He is also a genuinely nice man and a gentleman. Scotty is much too humble to say so himself, but he is a musical genius.
I keep coming back and listening to this. I can't stop! Between the vid quality and my eyes, I can't see if the tailpeice or trapezoid inlays of a 175 are there. The dogear P-90s are right for an early one. I suspect this to have a more plain tailpiece and dot fretboard inlays. I think that would make it an ES125 DC (poor man's 175) - assuming it is a full depth body. If I'm right except for it turning out to have a thin body, I should be an ES125TDC. T=thin; D=double (two pickups); C= cutaway.
I thought 137's came w/ Humbuckers. This one has P-90's, which cameon ES-135's. One of which I have (a '93) Only thing is, they did not come in Blond back in the early 90's, just Sunburst, Red & Black. Buckers did appear later on & w/ a Blond finish & Gold Hdwr. 137's are a later edtion w/ a better build quality...imo. It's really hard to tell in this Vid.
What a transcending style. He is completely on his own page while still in the thicket. I like the doubled harmony run, thats sum slick pickins! World class for sure there is much talent out there and he's right up there in my books(minus the hero or comparing factor).
my father heard about Scotty in a guitar player magazine I think and ordered a CD after I heard it I could'nt believe this incredible talent!I hope to see him play live someday.
Great..

What beautiful guitars. Just can't beat Gibson for that smooth, mellow tone.

Choice! What great playing by these two. What kind of Gibson is the guy in the backround playing. It's no ES-175, me thinks?
