  • So who's excited about the movie musical coming out staring Hugh Jackman as Valjean?!?! :D

  • I really wanna watch this in the theatre :'( it sounds so spine chilling to watch it in the theatre! ^_^

  • I've seen Les Mis 4 times in person...finally just changed my name to Valjean...should be finished building my barricade this summer...

  • i have just cried listening to this beautiful beautiful song!!

  • One thing I have to say about Gary Morris' performance is that he has the power and emotion that Colm had. I will always be a fan of Colms Valjean but this is absolutely a performance to not be overlooked!!

  • i saw les miserables in horsham yesterday - and the lead character of that was just as amazing as this - (but much younger)... Favourite musical - - favourite song in les mis

  • 9 people are not going home.

  • What key is this in?

  • @TheFreddyist It's in the key of F. This is the original key.

  • @Soulsurvivor4165 I hear A Major, or F#minor depending on where you are.

  • @TheFreddyist The Key of E - F is the original key.

  • i actually cried :') it's beautiful

  • Before hanging, up after ordering a pizza, I make the operator listen to me sing this to my future pizza.

  • @andypandy311 I dont know what the hell you meant but I am drunk and just laughed my ass off. Thanks for the laugh

  • He is amazing!! I have seen the play professionally twice and neither performance can live up to his performance as Jean Valjean!! I am always disappointed!! Maybe I shouldn't expect them all to be as excellent as he is!!

  • 8 people had so many tears streaming down their face, they missed the like button.

  • Such an amazing song. Such an amazing voice.

  • This Song Was Played At My Great Uncles Funeral, brings back some memories<3 <3

  • When ever I'm down, this fixes it..... Fantastic

  • Absolute magic. We saw Gary with Alfie Bow on the Royal Variety Performance and we adore it.

    Barbarian

  • @Barbarian1938

I assume you mean the 2010 variety performance. If so, then Morris wasn't there. It was: Bow, Colm Wilkinson, Simon Bowman and John Owen-Jones.

  • I find it amazing how he can switch from head to full chest voice on his high notes

  • I fell in love with les mis about 6 years ago and this song has never failed in making me cry! It is beautiful song and i am mad about it!! =D

  • 8 people missed the like button it seems

  • a lil embarassed to admit but only very recently i hv come across les miserable, n there r two songs im deeply in love with - bring him home and i dreamed a dream. can someone suggest me some more from the list of les miserable or similar heart warming songs. thanks

  • @kurtpitt I say buy the whole cd! This is my very favorite musical by far, and I promise you that you will fall in love with it! And you will understand the story much better:)

  • @kurtpitt

Song of angry men, on my own, one more day.

You know what , each & every song in the musical is breathtaking !!

Watch the "les miserables in concert" events and enjoy !

  • @kurtpitt please don't ever be embarrassed about finding a new musical "joy". the world of music is so vast that no one can pretend to know it all. i have a degree in music and have worked in that field for over 40 years. my goal has always been to learn something new every day. i "discovered" gary morris in my car listening to the raido on a night in 1989. he has been a "joy" for me ever since. please continue to discover and ENJOY!!!

  • @kurtpitt EVERY SONG!!! It is an amazing musical! I have been entranced by it since I was 12!

  • This is The best Music i Ever heard i give This Music 10/10

  • My heart's cry.

  • sang this for choir last year... it was so emotional

  • that vibrato is not cool!

  • wow send chills up your spine, when you think of all those troops still out there, Happy Veterans Day, Rememberence Day :)

  • All I can say is: WOW

  • this consummate musician is one of the most underrated and unrecognized singers in the industry. it is a very unfortunate example of how much the industry SUCKS!!!

  • Absolutely incredible!!!

  • hay kakaantok

  • Hey guys! Have a look at my version of “bring him home” at /watch?v=N57XS8AjvCs … thanks! It would be amazing to have your opinions! :) x

  • I remember seeing him sing this on the Johny Carson Show when I knew nothing about the play, had never heard of it. It just gave me goosebumps at the time. I wonder how they figured out how well a country singer would do in that role.

  • SOOOOOOOO beautiful. I first listend to this soundtrack on a long drive to Vegas from L.A. It was perfect.

  • hey check out my cover of this song that i did in my fund raiser, lemme know what you think, cheers adz

  • every time.... when a man has to get on his knees with no shame and pray.... every time! amazing

  • I prefer his version to any other version...better than Colm's IMO

  • love this song and this man sings it better than anyone . Please listen to my version of this and other songs including Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. Look up Leon Tagoe. Thanks. Just gonna listen to this guy sing again!!!

  • What a grand gesture this song speaks to - Jean Valjean offers to sacrifice himself for the life of the man his daughter loves. Gary Morris' delivery is excellent in capturing the emotion.

  • I have loved Gary Morris since I first heard him in 1983 in Indiana at an outdoor concert!!! I had never heard anyone sing like him!!!

  • who is that little girl in the logo? is it Eponine? oh and amazing performance

  • @SuperSeaCucumber That would be Cosette.

  • absolutely brethtaking. this song is my favouite out of the whole album. i saw the concert in london. it was absolutely amazing.

  • I intend to read the book

  • Ive just played the part of Valjean in york id a loved every second of it!! It is such and amazing part to play!! I hope one day i could play it on the west end oh that would be an ultaimte dream! If you can would u mind watching me singing bring him home at my first rehearsal of this song comment and rate!! Gary is an extremley hard act to follow and this rehearsal clip is by far no my best performance of but its the only one i have, Christian x TYPE IN: Christian Lunn Bring Him Home

  • That's the one!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally outstanding. Definitive. Does everyone know Les Mis is back on in Paris - a 25th anniversay season - for a couple of months only, from later this month (May) to July? In English too, with French surtitles. Let's all hop a plane!!!!!

  • I grew up listening to Gary but never knew why he just died out, so to speak of the country music world. I went to see him in Mt. Pleasant, Tx. about 1987 and thats the last I really heard of him. If this is from 2007 he still has an incredible voice, better than some of the junk out there today that is supposed to be the biggest and best.

  • @scotty1045 thank you so much for recognizing his talent. he is so versatile. in my mind, his "country music" recordings stand as examples for anyone performing in that genre. his ability to interpret "broadway" and other repertoire with equal ease is a talent that few musicians possess. unfortunately, the music industry has consistently failed to support such artists.

  • This nearly made me cry when i saw this in london - soppy i know but hell with that ;)

  • @MusicBeth1 Nothing wrong with honest tears.......this is one of the most emotional songs ever written.

  • i love this song !

    its such a beautiful song

and Gary Morris is an amazing voice

  • His version has grown on me. Im still not sure he was the best choice for this album given all the great JVJ's, but I've definitely grown to like this version.

  • we are singing this for our May concert! it's so beautiful, but I have never seen the whole musical, any of it for that matter.

  • @AylaRselhesur My school just performed it. First play I've seen at my school. I regret not seeing any others after such an amazing performance D:

  • How many people know that Gary Morris was one of the top COUNTRY Music artists of the 80's with five #1 songs? After he performed Les Miserables, Country radio turned it's collective back on him, thanks to radio consultants who "assumed" (incorrectly) that country fans would not longer appreciate him. I know. I was in radio back then.

  • Gary Morris is a great Valjean! I feel like he's kind of underrated...

  • ONE OF MY most memorable times. We were in the basement of RASCALS comedy club...my good buddy JOEL, the headliner JOHN FOX and I. The show was over, the club closed and the bar was left open for just the three of us. Drunk as a skunk..we sat on cases of beer in the basement . At John Fox's request, Joel, let loose with this song. It was mezmerizing..YOU SEE...JOEL was JEAN VAL JEAN ON BROADWAY in Les Miserables for 9 yrs ..John Fox was stunned. We were breathless.

  • this was done at my nephew's funeral :( love the song

  • @marroblex the're gonna do it at my uncles funeral

  • AMAZING but I must say I like Michael Crawford's version he has the most sorrow in it to me not saying anything bad about the other that is jsut my opinion.

  • Alot of power in this version

  • Absolutely beautiful! Thank you to chkjins for sharing it and to JeMs4LiFe for posting it!

  • amazing!

  • So many raved about CW's version, I listened to it, again. Then I listened to GM's, again, and tears of joy ran down my face. Colm's voice is breathy.

Listening again to Gary, it's like a high def version of the others, it is pure vocal tone, no falsetto, just an incredible voice range. The power of Gary's voice as he increases the volume on the sustained notes and then backs away.......... is simply unmatched by any of the others. There is such rich emotion in the vibratto, it's astounding!

  • @chkjns Beautiful!! I agree his vocals have so much emotional expression. Thank you sooooo much! Its a treat since I usually hear these songs in german!!! Absolutely beautiful....

  • amazing really brilliant thANK YOU

  • This performance is just too amazing for words . . . . . .

I've been creating play lists for the music of each year back to 1900. 111 playlists waiting to take you back in time to the music of any past year.

I wish they were all songs like this. I hope if people stumble upon this while playing my 1987 list they'll say 'Whoa, what's THAT fantastic sound?'

  • @chkjns Thanks Chuck for sharing this video clip. It is really a first-class performance. Awesome!!!

  • @nancyfloressantos Amazing, Terrific,

Fabulous ---- Gary has complete control

of his voice in the song. I loved it.

    5 Stars.

  • Colm (the original) was superb, but the current Jean Valjean (Simon Bowman) sings this, and has done for the past 10 years plus as though it was his own.

The song has to be sung very low key in the beginning (Colm doesn't start low enough) and built up to the crescendo that Colm Wilkinson and Simon Bowman both do.

However, the song is absolutely beautiful and totally represents what Les Miz is all about.

  • Have You Heard

DAVID HINDE SINGS BRING HIM HOME

    AND DAVID HINDE SINGS STARS?

  • I am from hungary,I think,that Morris is great singer,but Wilkinson is the best,what ever I heard.

  • does anybody know where i can get the lyrics for this song.... that is free and legal! if you know i would greatly appreciate it!

  • but isn't this colm? it sounds very similar...

  • No, it's Morris here but he has a very similar voice. Colm W. is perhaps my favorite. It is said that when Wilkinson first sang this song (not on stage but in a rehearsal room) there was not a dry eye in the room and stunned silence at its completion. Morris very nearly matches Wilkinson with his ease in the stratosphere. A great rendition here though. I'm glad to discover this again. Thank for posting.

  • This is the most beautiful rendition ever. What a fantastic talent... The best ever.!

  • Very good, but Colm Wilkinson is still the best

  • omg... what a voice!

  • @ivankmx Please don't say the name of God in vain.. It's wrong... thanks...

  • @ivankmx yeah wut that kid said!

  • what a voice..........super....

  • 2 guys in my skul sang this at my frends funeral :(

  • I'm very sorry about your friend. How was your school mate's rendition?

  • He does a better job than Colm in the TAC, love it!

  • I've seen Miz 7 times. Loved all the Valjeans. But my fav. is definitely Craig Shulman. I saw him 3x. Outstanding.!!!Gary Morris is wonderful too! And Colm?

    Beautiful voice.

  • Love it !! x

  • The Lord has truly blessed this man. This is my favorite version of my favorite song from Les Miz!

  • kvhassfamily: you should sing something from phantom - perhaps music of the night, or solo saxophone in miss saigon? Hope you do/did ok :)

  • i dont usually like this kind of music, but i must say this song is outstanding :-D

  • btwI want Marius

  • I'm a guy with a alto/tennerish voice auditioning for Les Mis, but I don't know what to sing. It can't be from the musical, so I'm stuck. I thought of Different from tarzan and of electricity from Billy Elliot, but I don't know If I like these decisions... Help Me!

  • I don't know if it too late but take a look at "The Scarlet Pimpernel" if you want to do a big tenor number go with "Into The Fire" if you want a sweeter (romantic) option look at "She Was There" or "Prayer" if you can get the music. Prayer is the best of these but the music is hard to come by. I use them for auditions because they are great songs and a little obscure so your directors and producers arent burned out on them.

    Good luck.

  • If you're a tenor and your auditioning for say Marius sing The Music of the Night

  • Gary has the second best voice in the

    world.

I don't have to tell you who number

    1 is.

  • Colm Wilkonson????

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Gary perform Bring Him Home at the Schwarzkopf Cup when I was just a young man. Very moving. Gary is the only Jean Valjean in my book.

  • voice to shaky for my liking, i think it's called vibrato but I'm not a singer, I just know what I like. The worst for it is leona lewis, fucking hell she takes the piss when she sings, I can't listen to her without getting angry /:-(

  • I agree on this one. I can't listen to this kind of vibrato, for me it's not at all tasteful. People have very different opinions about this matter, and this is my opinion...

  • Nothing as good as the original!!!

  • This isn't the original Valjean. Colm Wilkinson played the original Valjean in London, on Broadway, and in the 10th Anniversary Concert.

  • This really is a superb rendition of this wonderful song. Haven't heard better. I disagree with some who think Colm W's is better, but to me this is more mellow and heartfelt. Thanks for the upload.

  • i love this piece and gary does it proud i wish i could sing with such feeling it always brings tears as it reminds me of lost ones

  • ahhhhh why is his vibrato like a river ripple its AaAaAa its slow its like hes on a roller coaster im sorry Colm is much better!

  • les miserables, still remains my faveourite musical. this particular solo never fails to move me to tears. love it.

  • It's beautiful this song ..i only heard it for the first time recently and everytime i hear it i nearly cry .

  • There have been several exceptional vocalist doing Jean Valjean over the years.

    Gary is, however, incomparable.

    He is Jean Valjean!

  • my friend mel sang this in a concert i was in last night and it sounded absolutely amazing. i love this song <3

  • BGT (Jamie Pugh) brought me here too!! Jamie did the thing that suited his voice and made a great job of it in my opinion. He brought it down to suit his vocal range. BUT, listening to this, oh my word, the song is SO written for a tenor....

  • Fantastic. But nowhere near Colm Wilkinson's version, that was from the heavens.

  • You are so right, Colm is the very best in the world, the best there ever was or ever will be.♥

  • Jamie Pugh brought you here !

  • Colm Wilkinson brought me here! And I prefer his version, but damn. Gary has a killer voice to, but there is something a little bit disturbing about it. But who am I to complain, singers on this level are gods.

  • damn Jamie Pugh brought me here too...

  • who the hecks jamie pugh?

let me guess, guy from tv?

  • Yes

but he does sing this really well

  • Jamie Pugh certainly brought me here! :D

I actually prefer Jamie's powerful voice singing this more than any of the others I've heard so far.

I haven't actually seen Les miserables, but this has made me want to now :D

  • he really doesn't have a powerful voice... its nothing in comparison to the bit Valjean's. Seriously, I can't see why everyone liked him... i think it was just the surprise that he had an alright voice... but still nothing to get wound up about.

  • Jamie Pugh brought me here!

  • Jamie Pugh brought me here!

  • Personally i prefer Jamie Pughs version to this one, he seems to have a more powerful voice

  • I agree. Also the deepness of Jamie's voice just gives me chills.

  • Jamie sung it an octave lower. I think the original score calls for a part sung in the male falsetto, but Jamie's voice sounds so much richer because he sung it in his chest voice. Honestly, I wish stage performances of this piece were sung by a baritone.

  • It wasn't meant for a baritone

The writers specifically wrote it for Colm and his falsetto. The 'Prayer', to sound vulnerable and majestic, and even almost crying.

But I agree, it would be interesting to see it performed that way. My guess is though that it would come across more mysterious then sentimental

  • Jamie Pugh brought me here

  • Jamie Pugh brought you here !

  • Copy and paste if Jamie Pugh brought you here

  • tambien me trajo aqui la cancion de jamie pugh, exelente voz.

  • damn Jamie Pugh brought me here too...

  • This brought me to Jamie Pugh! No, seriously!

  • who the hells jamie pugh?

  • Copy and paste if Jamie Pugh brought you here

  • Jamie Pugh brought me here!

  • And btw...never heard this song before jamie pugh song it. You'll always find that one moment where u just think...wow. that changes everything..even the smallest of things can do this. this is what happened to me. amazing song and jamie pugh sang it amazingly regardless of how he sang tonight (live show) Everyone gets that one moment..maybe more.

  • I have long been a Gary Morris fan, even listening to his Country music and seeing him in person. Such a beautiful voice. I have loved his rendition of this since I got the recording. However....my favorite version is done by Michael Gott, a musician in Dallas. Every year at a Christmas party that Michael entertains for, he MUST do this as his closing song...brings everyone to tears.
